Hello there :)

My name is Stuart, and I'm a Bloodbowlaholic.

I love this game. I love everything about this game (Except dwarves cheap Rerolls). I love the power teams and the speed teams. I love the small fellas and the big buys. I love Blood Bowl.

I play Blood Bowl whenever I can, but it is hard to find alot of people near me who play, and even harder if I want to try a new team that I don't own. The local GW store was against Specialist Games, wanting to focus on the core games, including the dreaded LOTR.

So I found Fumbbl.

Fumbbl lets me play against alot of people, pretty much anytime I want, for free, with new teams I feel like trying. My no-tree halflings had fun (before they were killed by a bunch of Chaos Warriors). It took me a while to set up, about an hour all together I'd say, which at the time almost put me off it. But I did it, and I've probably played about five hundred matches now. At an hour a game, I've spent nigh on THREE WEEKS playing all together.

Thats more than I've played my entire life before.

What does this have to do with you all I hear? Well, I now run the Official Warseer Blood Bowl League. And we want new players. We aren't small; we have about fourteen of us which for your average Blood Bowl League is actually pretty large. We have been going for almost a year, which means we're not a flash in the pan league. We have a bi-weekly news downloadable PDF with in-character information and we have a range of team styles. We feel if you want to play Blood Bowl, you should be able to.

I want people to join and help us make this even bigger than it is. If we can get even four or five new guys playing, regardless of skills or experience, then this is a good thing. That brings us to nearly twenty and We can start to have seperate tournaments and divisions. We can play doubles tournaments and have an even bigger magazine spread. In the years to come when I retire from leading this highly enjoyable group, I'll know I set people on the road to Bloodbowlism.

I can some this entire post up really easily:
I love Blood Bowl. If you love Blood Bowl, you should look into Fumbbl.

I'm asking anyone out there that reads these forums, and knows about Blood Bowl, to take a look at http://fumbbl.com and get involved. If you're on Fumbbl already then why not join the league, I'm sure you can help teach some n00bs the joys of stalling and fouling ;) (Joke Kerv, it's a joke!).

I genuinely want to see this grow into something that looks after itself in the months and years to come.

++++ Link To The Warseer Fumbbl Forum ++++ (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65695)

Take a look there at the rules. At how to get involved. At how to have fun.

My name is Stuart, and I'm a Bloodbowlaholic.

Sound interesting. I'm curently on FUMBBL. And play every now and then. I have looke at your league. But as of now I don't think that I want to comit to play a game vs a fixed oponent. I mutch more like the challange a team whan I feal like playing.

But I definitly will consider it. As new ideas take som time for me to adjust to. It's not unlikly that I'll join in the future

We don't always play fixed opponents, in between tournaments you are free to play whoever you like. It would be cool to have you aboard.

No you join at any time. Although, I would suggest you join as early as possible to join in on the fun!

Not at all, no. I wont ever turn people away because they wanted to think it over or check Fumbbl out themselves first. Take your time, by all means :)

I may just join up in a bit then. Although I'll have to think up a different team name, seeing as Gres has nicked my naming gimmick...

Out of curiosity, what's the legal situation with this Fumbbl business? GW must be aware of it, but don't they mind? That's not like them.

Legally it's all gravy. As long as you own a copy of the rules then it's totally fine to play, and seeing as you can download the rulebook for free, works out all good.

Look forward to seeing you on the pitch!

I would play it, but it's honestly too confusing with all the different stuff you have to download.

See I thought the same thing, I really did. But you don't NEED to do that much. Register on the site for your teams, and then download one package from skijunkie. That's it. We just recommend downloading a IRC program to find games as it is the easiest option, if you don't want to do that, there is a javachat option on the site itself.

download this (http://fumbbl.com/files/JBB/JavaBBowl_8_7.exe)

... That's it. Really. You have MSN the you can reach most the players through there. When we kick off the new league I'll be letting everyone know each others MSN address anyway (IF you want it known to other league players), and you can always download the IRC chat later, if at all.

I recently sold all of my GW stuff because of the complete lack of people to play against around here, but I'd love to get in on this. I played Fumbbl for a few weeks a couple of years ago and loved it, though I think I spent WAY too much time playing it. I'll do some research on it; my main team on my brief stint was Norse.

Yea fumbbl tends to eat a lot of time as you get more and more addicted! Love to have you a board, all you have to do is submit your team to our league and get ready to have some fun!

Funnily enough I've been playing away at Chaos League Sudden death of late, and used to destroy folks in Monsterbowl with my Leporine Malefactors. (Kudo's if you work that name out and have a laugh). Guess I've always been pulled back to it time and again.

Does it matter if you can't quote the rules word for word and don't have too much time to play? I ran a blood bowl league years back (Would have been the Mid to late 90s) and it was probably the most fun I've had with a Games Workshop game, but I can't actually recall too many of the rules, save my beastmen were s4 blitzing and "Big Hand" was my first sculpting attempt... using blu-tac! *laughs*, take a bit of time for me to to catch up.

Did once attempt to get Fumbbl working years ago and didn't manage such a feat. Might give it another shot, at least I won't be a newbie to IRC. (That took me months alone to understand first time around!)

*edit* Seems my login for that site site works and my still unused Chaos Team is there... now to figure out what to do with it and how...

Wow, I have been off of fumbble for a while. It is tons of fun. The people on this site are really cool and laid back. I use to post tons of Chuck Norris jokes and everyone would laugh their hops off.

I perfer Elf and Dwarfs teams. The only thing that really licked my chops was the luck % thing. If I am going to lose a BB game then I will do it myself (I do it enough in 40k, haha).

Oh yeah, I have to admit the real game is much more fun then the on-line fashion. Something about having those painted minis on the board those block dice in my hands.

I read the rules for joining and I am going to apply. I have one team the "Chuck Norris Roundhouse kicks". They have only played one game and that was at least three months ago and they lost. So I hope you take them in on that consideration.

I'm sure we could take a look at the team and consider the options there Liquiddream78 - And yes, I was there at the same time posting Chuck Norris quotes two. Chuck Norris is so hard he can walk into a Burger King, order a Big Mac, and get one. That was me :)

Arkzein, nah you don't need to quote or even know every single rule - The javascript client pretty much takes care of most of it. I'd suggest creating another team, and playing a couple of trial games just to get use to the rules first so you know how the client lets you know things, and basic tips such as standing up prone players first and leszs risky moves etc.

For everyone on this, if you have MSN add krushknov@msn.com
Thats my MSN address and I'm almost always available during the day at some point to answer any queires or questions, just to chat about Blood Bowl or Fumbbl, or any other GW game, or anything at all.

Hope to see you all soon!

Quick read through the rules got a lot of it fresh in my memory again, No long Bombs or blocking stronger players as my first action, though my beloved claw and razor sharp fangs combo seems to have been seriously toned down. ;) Just a matter of working out and getting used to the client. I'll make another team for the academy part and see if I can try it sometime this week. Be fun getting through the tough first few games as Chaos again before any skills.

Oh and when Chuck Norris walks, he isn't propelling himself forward, he's spinning the Earth around underneath him. ;)

What version are you reading? Fumbbl still runs on version 4 of the lrb.

I've got whatever was on the specialist site, though played with whatever came in the box years ago, the league is still under the old rules from the boxed set then?

Yep, so your claw/rsc broken combo is still in effect lol. Cheers

I just joined Fumbbl, have never played BB but have gone over the rules. I watched some replays and saw somethings I don't really understand how they could happen ruleswise.

5 times or more I saw Beastmen try to block a Troll, knock the Troll prone, but then knock themselves out as well. I thought when a block was thrown, the stronger opponent chose a single block die as the result. How could there be two results?

Also, one of the opponents was using Nobbla Blackwart, the special character, with a chainsaw. I thought the 'Secret Weapon' rule only allowed you to use the character only one drive per half, but this player used him the whole game. What's up with that?

th0r
05-03-2007, 05:02
When blocking you get to use assists, this can allow the weaker beastmen to go above strength 5, thus allowing two dice for the block. It is also possible to go over two times the strength (against a troll you would need 11) for a 3d hit.

As for secret weapons, at the end of a drive you make a role and if its over whats needed then the ref will spot the weapon and ban the player. Thus if the ref doesn't spot the weapon, the player could play the entire game.

Hope you enjoy FUMBBL; and if you get a chance check out the WBBL (we don't bite, honest...well maybe Autobot...)

But the living rulebook states:

Once a drive ends that this player has played
in at any point, the referee orders the player to be sent off to the
dungeon to join players that have been caught committing fouls during
the match regardless of whether the player is still on the pitch or not.

Seems to me that there would be no roll to spot, and it a done deal. Is that new?

Also, I figured out that the Beastman blocking the Troll must've got a "Both Down" result to knock the Troll prone, and knock himself out. Just happened a lot I guess.

I think it depends on the secret weapon. I know a death roller can only be used for one drive. But then I know from the stunty tournament (lots of secret weapons) we had that you do have to make rolls for chainsaws, bombs, pogo sticks etc.

Autobot HQ
05-03-2007, 12:30
The difference is that Fumbbl uses LRB4 not the new LRB5 - Under the LRB5 all secret weapons can only be used for a single drive. Under the LRB4 rules, you roll after every drive to see if he is taken off the pitch or not.

So, contarary to it being new, it's actually old lol

Saw some more confusing stuff I hope someone can help clear up. Saw a review of an Academy League game between some High Elves and Norse. Whenever the Norse player with Block Skill blocked the HE player the bot would tell him to "Choose block die" even though they both had equal strengths! This occured in the open pitch too, so there was no one aiding the block. This occurred not just once, but everytime! WTF?

Also, what is "Tackle zone state changed to true"?

Second one sounds like the tackle zone is in effect just, such as if they were knocked over it isn't, yet when they stand it it is and set back to "true". That would be my guess in any case.

I just created my fist team, and played my first game last night. I really liked the way it's played. But they are no cards? :(

Apart from that the rest is really nice.

LordSnotball

no cards, too hard to implement, and were ditched in LRB4

As for the copyrights, 2 things apply:

1) the server is in sweden, and copyright doesn't do anything there
2) GW know how difficult it is to find a Blood Bowl opponent, and this helps the community grow instead of diminish. most coaches get hooked and buy minis and paint them, so i reckon they r making more money just by ignoring it... sort of like word-of-mouth advertising

Sounds like you might not have Java or the client installed, try running through the steps from http://fumbbl.com/help:InstallingJava and make sure you can play an offline game before trying to set it up to run with FUMBBL. Try reading every section linked to on http://fumbbl.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index
