Aye, that's mine. I managed to get some GW/SG models compared to my FW ones down at the club on Sunday. I'll be posting more pics tonight showing the Thunderhawk and Phoenix up next to the existing FW models I have. :)

Fanastic I can't wait to see the size of the Thunderhawk!

I'll see if I can add some pics showing the FW aircraft next to 6mm Marines too - I found my old metal epic marines last night (about 20 of them!), the only remnants of the Marine chapter I sold last year (yep, a chapter, over 1000 marines and support vehicles too, how I wish now I'd kept them as the club has started playing Epic too - Doh!)

UPDATE: Here are some pics (sorry about the quality, I'll take better ones when the Thunderhawk has been put together).

It's basically the same length as the Marauder, but much much chunkier.

The Tau fighter is very small... even compared to the T-Bolt.

Great pics there Spacker - my order still hasn't arrived, so it's good to see what to expect.

There's a pic of the Phoenix already in the gallery :)

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack104/IMG_2360

Vampires don't ship till the end of this month, and Nightwings are out of stock so I haven't received mine yet. I've just posted a comparison pic of the Phoenix next to the Thunderbolt and Barracuda.

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack104/IMG_2361

And here's a pic of one of each of the aircraft I own:

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack104/IMG_2364

(the Thunderhawk is missing because I'd ordered it for my brother-in-law, and it's now sat at his house. I'll get him to bring it round during the weekend for a game and take some pics with better lighting)

And here's one more pic for now:

Here you can see the 40k scale flyers next to their AI versions :)

Thanks for nice photos. It looks like the Thunderbolt is little too big.

Nope, the Thunderbolt is just right going by the 40k scale models I own - it's a huge model.

Very cool, thanks a lot!

The Barracuda is indeed small but OTOH the Tigershark is huge. I ordered four packs of Tau and the book on Sunday, so it's nice to know what to expect (when they finally arrive here - hopefully before the end of February).

OK, here are some 40k to AI measurement comparions taken from the models I have here in my collection.

Going from 28mm to 6mm scale should make the AI models 21.4% of the size of the 40k ones.

Thunderbolt - 40k: L 250mm W 290mm. AI: L 51mm W 56mm. Percentage: L 20.4% W 19.3%.

Valkyrie - 40k: L 282mm W 242mm. AI: L 58mm W 48mm. Percentage: L20.5% W 19.8%

Phoenix - 40k: L 200mm W 240mm. AI: L 41mm W 45mm. Percentage: L 20.5% W 18.75%.

Allowing for measuring errors on the AI models (I only went to the nearest mm, I don't have a micrometer :P), and for differences in the way the models can be put together, these all look very close to the expected scale. Now, lets take the Thunderhawk - FW list it as L 480mm W 440mm, so the AI model should be L 102mm W 95mm, and it's pretty close to this.

My brother-in-law has posted some pics of the Thunderhawk put together here: http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Nightbringer2

:)

UPDATE: comparison pic of the Chaos Hell Talon is now up, along with pics showing all the aircraft I own next to a rule.

However, these really don't do it justice - the photo makes it look about the same size as the Marauder Destroyer, but when you see it in real life it's much bulkier and really dominates the table (had a 4 way game last night with 60pts (3 aircraft) each, the Thunderhawk seemed to take up the bulk of the table)

Thanks for the pictures. The comparisons are really nice to see, very useful. :)

Another pic of a few more aircraft comparisons - my Nightwings and my friend's Hellblades finally arrived yesterday :)

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack104/IMG_2387

Sorry for the terrible photo, didn't have the time to sort out a decent lighting setup, but at least you can see how they compare size wise.

The wings on the Nightwing do move - unfortunately they are also very thin (so thin that in places there are gaps on a couple where the details lines are), and likely won't last long without being fixed. The other problem is trying to glue the underside in place without getting glue on the wings, my first Nightwing has one wing that won't sweep back fully because of this :(

Another new pic - Tau Manta next to Thunderbolt, Marauder, Barracuda, and Tiger Shark:

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack104/IMG_2397

Sorry about the quality, forgot to turn off the flash and the batteries died right after I took it, so I had to increase the contrast in CS2 to show up the aircraft. I'll take a better pic at the weekend in natural light.

The Manta is a beast! Reinforced flying stand required :D

Here are some pics with a rule:

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack106/IMG_2400

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack106/IMG_2399

It's 165mm wide, and 115mm long (a little more once the engines are on).

I tried it with the standard flying stand, longest stem, and it's pretty stable - although it's a little rear heavy. I'll probably glue the AI base to the large clear base to provide additional stability though.

I'm almost tempted to part with 45 now I've seen how big it is. I think FW and GW would do well to include scale on all their pictures, tbh. I recently got a BFG demiurg stronghold ship, and was impressed by the size of it when it was made up...

That thunderbolt looks out of scale compared to the phoenix. Maybe it's just a trick of the light or my own expectations but it just looks too big.

I've got the 40k TB and Phoenix - the AI models are to scale. The TB is a huge fighter.

Hmmm.. just looks big, guess that's cause I'm an elegant Eldar player and my Phoenix (40K) looks pretty big on the table as it is.

As you can see, the Thunderbolt is a very large fighter.

I just got my order in. The SM T-Hawk is very impressive and the molding was almost flawless. The T-Bolts, Lightnings, Barracudas, and Orca were also very clean. The Orca is a great model. Unfortunately my Valkyries and Vultures were not in the best shape. Lots of mold filling and poor casts. That's my biggest complaint with FW. Sometimes you get perfect pieces, other times not. Overall though I was please with everything. I am always amazed how much detail FW puts into their stuff.

Vampires, Heavy Flak Guns, Missile Silos, and Command Post arrived this morning, so I'll get pics posted as soon as I get home from work.

just wanted to point out that the T-Bolt is supposed to be a huge fighting craft, if you want small and zippy look to the lightning. the size of the mini makes alot of sense. BTW the pics are excellent spaker, waiting for the vamp pics want to see how big they are
