I am planning on going magic heavy as the people at the local club play magic lite to magic balanced. I figure that the zombies will be my meatshield with the grave guard tearing into the enemy pretty good. Any ideas?

I like the list, looks a lot like my necrarch list.

My only concern are the (relatively) small skeleton units. i can see you are probably going to beef them up first 2 turns or so, but one bad magic phase early on will leave them vulnerable to a strong charge of knights.

Maybe drop the spears and fill out the units. Or give the second GG unit the war banner.

Just my thoughts anyway....

Lets us know how you go.

no knights? oh well whatever works.
im one of those VC players who always uses a vampire count in ≥2000 pts.
i only use master necromancers as a second lord choice in 3000 pts games.

i would ask what role you expect the dire wolves to play?

Maybe re-think the magic items given to the necros. It might be worth giving one of them the cloak of mist and shadows. I personally take a couple of squads of black knights with a coach and a vampy rather than a couple of iunits of GG, but whatever feels good for you.

Add one more zombie for those 8 points you have left, just because you can...

I think the list looks good, maybe drop the spears in order to get a couple of more models in, since that also gives them better armour save thus making you outnumber more often.

Any thoughts on the revised army? I plan on reinforcing my zombies and skeletons as i approach and then making new units of zombies in the rear of the enemy when i close in. the black knights are there for the speed boost and definately pack a punch that is not found in skeletons and zombies. Any ideas on the new list/errors?

i wouldnt drop the spears, they are essential for skeletons for just +1 point/model

Are you using the discounted back of the book "ask first" costs for the units? If so, why?

Im not sure what the "ask first" is but, currently I am using the program Army Builder to make my lists. The list isn't just the "vannilla vamp. counts" list, its a necromancer's army so there is a points price break for feilding the army.

There are "lists" in the back of the book which require opponents permission to field. These lists are commonly held to be un-balanced and broken, and you'll have to look hard to find an opponent who will let you field them.

I suggest that you buy the army book. Army Builder, while nice cannot hope to give you enough information to play the army.

Thanks, I didnt read the part about needing an opponent to agree to it.

Well hopefully this legal list for any opponent would be better. Any suggestions?

i prefer blood dragons and von carsteins over the lahmian vampires.
if your going to use the cloak of mist and shadows on your vampire, take lore of death, that way you can get a magic missle automatically, so you can actually do damage.

please get the VC book, or steal it or something. there is all sorts of weird stuff on army builder.

I do have the book, i just havent read it very throughly. Would a more efficiant vampire be a blood dragon count with the sword of unholy power, heart peircing, and red fury mounted with black knights (i would remove one due to points problem).

In that case should a necromancer be the general to keep the army moving?
