Here's the situation. Big orc unit, fanatics 2" and 5" in front, enemy 10" in front. Orcs roll 6 on animosity and surge forward 4". Hit first fanantic, but can't stop on top of fanatic ... so do we

(a) stop orcs at 4" and push fanatic out the back (which is what we decided to do) or
(b) keep moving orcs until they are clear of first fanatic, but they hit next fanatic, and we have the same problem

Ok, given that we have done (a), now the orcs take 25% casualties, panic and flee. Which way do they go? The fanatic which hurt them is now behind them, so do they

(a) run forward, over the second fanatic and potentially into the enemy?
(b) backwards, over the fanatic which has already hit them? Are they hit again? or
(c) towards the nearest table edge because we are so confused we don't know what else to do? (which is what we did)

1) The Orcs move forward 4" stop. They take 1d6 hits for contacting the Fanatic plus 1d6 hits for it's death-thoes. The Fanatic is removed.

2) If the orcs panic due to the first 1d6 hits then they flee away from the Fanatic. If the orcs panic due to the additional hits for stopping on the Fanatic, they might run in any direction or none! The most appropriate is to use the default, i.e. that they flee towards the table edge.

Units that Panic due to Fanatics are specifically mentioned as fleeing towards the closest table edge.

"We'll show 'em" rules do not state what happens when the Orc unit comes into contact with friendly units.

The 1" apart rule applies to enemy units so does not apply here.

In fact "We'll show 'em" does not state, the O&G unit has to move the full D6" and the Waagh spell 2D6" is the same and not as I've always thought!

The Orc unit could stop before contacting the Fanatic!

Agreed. They are not required to ignore the Fanatic, nor are they required to ignore it. It seems this is left to the player's choice. The "We'll show 'em" rules *do* allow for the unit to perform turns, wheels and the like

The unit must move towards the enemy, but should certainly be allowed to take into account such obstructions. Running into very difficult terrain to get at the archers on the other side is unlikely to be as quick as moving around the terrain.

And the game does seem to equate "as fast as possible" with "as short as possible". :)
