hey guys, over the next few months i'll be painting my Iron Warriors (Boo, Hiss :)).

so, without futher ado, here is my basilisk, 'big bertha'. i actually painted 'her' about 3 months ago, and since have added the rails made of spikes to the rear loading area, and have gave her an inkwask of chestnut and black inks, with watered down DA green, to help give some depth to the silver. Note these were before, the others are after the ink wash etc.

here's some more updated pics of the basilisk. Note the dirge caster, which I made from the thing which the searchlight or the real dirge caster is made from, with the turning wheel for the earthshaker cannon, and a daemonic head from the CSM vehicle sprue. Iplan to add some of the serivtors that came out with the Daemonhunters, as they look a bit more wacky then the new ones released with the SM techmarine.

Nice, the second pictures look a lot better. I presume the first ones were before the ink wash? I look forward to seeing more :D

god, ive been away for a day and this was on like pg. 3 :)

anyways, here's some pics of one of my aspiring champions. theyre of a pretty bad qualtity so i'll try and get some more up. At the moment he's in bits, both of the exhausts on the top of his backpack have been snapped off and he's in half after i took him along to a library club i help run, and there was an unfotunate dice throwing episode...

That bronze colour looks very nice!

cheers, its actually quite a simple tin bitz, and brazen brass over it. Also, for a final higlight, i mix Brazen Brass with skull white (only a little bit)

That aspiring champion could do with some yellow and black stripes, perhaps on one of the legs but other than that I love it...

Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing a whole squad!

Oh and chack out my shop, link in sig, I have 16 second hand chaos guys up on eBay at the moment for about 10!! One has las cannon, theyed make gr8 iron warriors!

Looking good so far mate! :)

thanks for the response guys.

i really should have mentioned im planning only to do chevrons on the vehicles and chainswords on my marines, dnot ask me why but i prefer to see less of them, maybe because they're quite distracting from the entire model

17-02-2007, 20:03
Nice work still a bit bright for my taste and hazard stripe heavy. Maybe I use a brown/black wash over the armour as chestnut and flesh ink are too light ? Like the trims much prefer the brass look to shiny gold.

hey guys. Ive finally finished a five man squad. I'll have some pics up later

back again, with a list (not too detailed)

speed prince

4 obliterators

2x5 man heavy bolter/ plasma gun

1x5 man las/plas (boo, hiss:))

1000 points ish

That's light on numbers, but it would scare my Guard a lot.

Nice scheme so far... more pics!

lol, on the subject of guard i gave an army of them a game last week. The guy insists on taking no tanks, so the possible 7 heavy bolters and a s6 daemon prince really worked, specially when he can kill off/catch one unit and sweep into the next :D

09-03-2007, 17:15

floyd pinkerton
11-03-2007, 19:37

bought some lichen to put on the guy's bases, and have almost finished a vindicator. pics soon

17-03-2007, 22:41
How did you do the silver? It'd nice and not too shiny. I'm jsut wondering because I'm doing pre-heresy Iron Warriors(for the tale of 4 gamers:Pre-Heresy thread) and was looking into some different way.

BTW, nice minis, I like the defiler.

floyd pinkerton
17-03-2007, 23:01
hey, it's fairly simple. just there's a few steps.

1-boltgun metal
2-50/50 boltgun metal/mithril silver
3-25/75 black ink/ water
4-repeat 3 if too weak
5- 50/50 boltgun metal/mithril silver
6-mithril silver
7- at most 80/20 mithril silver/ skull white

17-03-2007, 23:28
Thanks, I shall giv'er a try. What's next to be painted, Defiler?

22-03-2007, 01:03
Love the defiler and nice work on the marines i should go back to doing my Iron Warriors and put aside the templars for now.

22-03-2007, 02:43
I like the pose of the defiler. :D

floyd pinkerton
23-03-2007, 19:48
@thesalis- I'd love to see some pics after they're done

anyways, here is my very WIP vindicator. im thinnking of changing the guardsman for a marine, and adding a few bits of fine chain over the doors and all. And yes, that is a 3/4" bit of pipe

The barrel of the vindicator is elevated too high. It looks like it is shooty at fliers instead of the base of an opponenets wall. Straighten it out abit.

Nice work on the grey/silver armor on this guys. Impressive.

back again guys, i had a brainwave earlier. At my local GW the standard game is 1000pts, and i usually choose between the vindicator and basilisk. So, I thought, why not make a tank for both, which can be swapped between games? So, after a pop down to the local DIY store, i came up with this:

the question is, would you let me use this as a basilisk?

30-03-2007, 09:52
Why not, as long as you point it out before you start playing. At the end of the day its a GW artillery piece.

Looks more like a Basilisk than a Vindicator to me. Especially with the firing angle on the gun.

I like your Defiler. Nice job playing around with the kit.

30-03-2007, 11:05
nice work
i like the defiler and the basilisk
keep up the good work

back once again guys.

having been to the FW open day on sunday, i have decided i will be addnig some renegade guard units to my force, purely for character (what!?!? IW + fluff?! :D).

so, i purchased some renegade artillery crew for my 'original' basilisk, and they're next up on my painting table

floyd pinkerton
15-04-2007, 20:19
well, after a break, i have to paint my tau for conflict. The scheme will be grey armour with orange leather and turquoise jewels and all. I may knock out a test one tonight, if i can find my paints...
