View Full Version : The madness of RizzenBlade, Lizardmen and whatnot

I will use this log to get feedback on my many warhammer projects, primarily lizardmen but I have been known to branch out. I have been collecting for almost 10 years now, visiting lizardmen in both incarnations of the models. A few armies of space marines sit on my shelves in varying levels of paint and one chaos marine army being stripped, many years ago i once had an eldar army with only a few harlequins remaining. I will post pictures of these at a later date.

The first of my highlighted projects from this ancient realm of Lustria shall be Nakai, sacred kroxigor of the first spawning. Although no official rules exist for him, he still sits in his place as the best character the lizardmen have to date.

Any questions or advice would be appreciated and until next time, I thank you for reading.

That. Is. Awesome.

Is he going to carry a weapon? I don't think he needs one to be fair.

Fantastic. The feet, in particularly, are excellently sculpted.

I look forward to seeing that model painted, and to the rest of your army. :)

Um ... O_O Sweet! Great take on a big ol' krox, and nice base with the plastic rat ogre (or am I way off?) :D

Weapon-wise, pretty sure the Big N has a great weapon, and his left hand looks ready to receive something MASSIVE and KILLY.

You better believe he will carry a weapon, a rather large great axe in fact.

Your actually the second person to make that mistake, he is just sculpted onto a skeleton I made out of a saurus sprue, and that is a monster base he is barely fitting on too. Without the size comparison I cant realy show you how much bigger he is than a rat ogre, but rest assured that arm is about as big as one

Nice, but IŽd put more muscles on his arms.

While I might be biased (because IMHO everything needs more muscles), it would look more heroic. Of course I know that lizards in general normaly do not have defined muscles but rather tube-like limbs, but muscles= teh win ^^

I can see the left arm is right for an axe now... should look excellent.

A wonderfull work on that mini. Love the scales and the texture of the skin a really nice touch. The head is perfect and the looted stuff fits the mini, but the best thing is the skull on the left shoulder it left me with a jaw-ache ;) good job keep em coming!

Wow, very nice! I'm always impressed by those with great greenstuff skills. Great looking Nakai! Can't wait to see more of this...

So until I can be bothered buying another 40 dollars of greenstuff, some harder setting modeling clay and the wire armature that I will need to continue nakai, I have been concentrating on getting the saurus heroes for my army sorted.

this will include 2 Scar veterans on foot and one on coldback

http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w43/RizzenYeah/SCARVET5.jpg

I am currently modeling this ones arms with what little greenstuff I have left. All my scar veterans will be using the temple guards in some way or another, since I do not have a slann as yet I do not need a unit of these guys. When I do I have an interesting project for them in mind, it involves a lot of necromancy on my part. Anyway as you can see i have replaced the normal configuration of halberd and shield with a great weapon, rest assured this badboy is nowhere near done.

Second is the armies Battle standard, having been given this by my brother I thought he deserved a nice unique weapon, my brother collects dwarves so I thought it best to pay homage to the axe wielding stunties, creating a lizardman version of the weapon.

In the next installment I should have the great weapon veteran painted up, and I can show you all the nice coldone I have for the 3rd hero.

That is a super cool kroxigor. To me it looked like it was based off a rat ogre to. But, if a ray ogre is the size of its arm... I cant wait to see it next to the rest of your army!

I dont think I have ever seen a better green stuff sculpt.

Before I leave for uni here are a few pics of the finished conversion for the scar veteran with great weapon.

Should hope to have him at least started by tomorrow, but I will definitely need some sleep since I have been up since 4 this morning.

Enjoy

Nice painting skills too! I like the spiky gauntlet (?) on the saurus behind the BSB in that first pic. Neat stuff, and nice red on it.

On the GS front, are you buying it in the packs GW sells? Because it's readily available in 36" ribbon rolls or in big tubes, at least in the US. Both of these options cost WAY less per inch compared to the GW pack - the tube is the same price and the roll maybe runs you double the GW cost, for 3x+ the putty amount. Check eBay or Australian versions of TheWarStore maybe ...

I fogret the name of the specific one I used but it was a rather large tube that I bought for 40 dollars, the only problem is uni has just started so that means a few hundred dollars of art supplies and books. Which means Its gonna be a while until I can get my next army deal to add tot he ranks.

Well he is finished
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w43/RizzenYeah/SCARVET7-1.jpg
I need to figure out how to take good pictures because these aren't that great.
The weapon is a little annoying but I think it still works:)

Oh and I modeled the standard finally, basically it represents my Oldbloods army, I'm sure I will come up with a name for him someday but until then he is the saurus with the powerclaw.
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w43/RizzenYeah/BattleStandard2.jpg
AS you may notice there is a severed hand on there, that is what remains of his former hand, taken in battle against a high elf prince.
Well I got a little amount of greenstuff left and it is going to finishing the tail of nakai. I will post some pics of him again when it is finished.

Very good work on the saurus - both green-stuffing and painting.

The blue on your models looks like it could use some shading and highlighting. Plus, there's some mould lines jumping out. Other than that, good job, especially on details (did I mention your sculpts were fantastic? ). I'm thinking of starting a Lizzie army myself and this will provide me with some motivation, surely.

Yeah, ive just been a little apprehensive about doing a lighter layer, and the mold lines are so so annoying, ive basically been repainting my army from a few years ago and I knew nothing about anything back then, just a rush paint job then out the door.

Definately will give some more highlights to the lizzies as the other stuff I have is either too large ie saurus cavalry and carnosaur, or too useless ie swarms to bother starting.

That Nakai sculpt is fantastic!
