Greetings fellow Warseer's.
The purpose of this log is to cover a number of smaller fantasy projects in one place, as well as too get rid of my stockpile of fantasy and lotr figures.

I wont be making a complete list of stuff, instead I will just catalouge all as I go along.

At the moment I have three definate projects that shall be covered in this thread, in no particular order they are:

Forces of Good from Fall of the Necromancer (still missing a couple of figures)
Completing my half finished Dark Elf army
Dwarves from Reapers Warlord line.

To start things rolling I have decided to get some Lotr stuff finished, so here we have a whole bunch of Hobbits!!

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Lord%20of%20the%20Rings/hobbitswip1.jpg
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Lord%20of%20the%20Rings/hobbitswip2.jpg
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Lord%20of%20the%20Rings/hobbitswip3.jpg

hopefully now that I'm getting to put paint to brush on a bit more regular basis I should be able to update a bit more often than my other project has had so far.

As always comments appreciated.

Cheers

Love to see hobbitsez!

The size of them are a pain to paint, so I'll be watching this closely!

Cheers Zachos, I read that while drinking, my PC is covered in Coffee now!

Bluesabre
22-02-2007, 13:26
Hmm it does appear that they are a vocalist group, seeing their distinct lack of intstuments.

The first figures to get done will be Sam and Bill the pony. I shall endevour to get some work done on them tomorrow.

I dont actually find the hobbits too much of a problem to paint, the smaller size makes you concentrate a bit more, but overall there's less that needs painting!

Cheers

Thanks for looking.

You have really inspired me to start thinking about making a unit of hobbits for warhammer fantasy now, maybe a whole hobbit army...hmm...

How big are these in comparision to warhammer fantasy models?

Bluesabre
24-02-2007, 13:41
Tiny, skinny little children compared to warhammer halflings.

lilljonas
24-02-2007, 16:19
Very nice and neat painting! Keep up the good work. What are you going to do first after the halflings, Dark Elves or Dwarfs?

Bluesabre
25-02-2007, 02:14
I will most probably do the Reaper Dwarve's next, as its a smaller project atm and shouldnt take all that long to get out of the way.

The Dark Elves will take a little longer as I will probably be stripping back the models I painted when I first started to do them, and then repainting them along with the ones that never got started.

26-02-2007, 14:28
Blue sabre once you get those hobbits and some more LOTR done i have to come and play you down at Rocko or at the GW. Well i will always support a fellow aussie. Keep up the work. Whats with the white undercoat does it make the paint work better?

Just curious

CYA!

Bluesabre
27-02-2007, 05:32
The main reason for the white u/coat was for making the figures and bases a bit brighter. I will probly use white for most of my good Lotr characters. Black for the evil guys =)

liamrob
27-02-2007, 07:34
Hmm i guess i will have to get a white and black undercoat. Darn spray cans run out fast. Which cans do you use GW/tamiya or some other one. Well keep up the great painting

GW cans atm, only recently seen a tamiya one in my area so might try it out soon.

Really nice hobbits! Sad that Lotr is smaller than 28mm, though it might still be possible to include hobbits in one's units. After all, four hobbits in a blister is a pretty good unit-filler with square bases.

I like them, and I really think you got a nice feeling on the clothes. I especially liked Paladin Took's outfit!

Bluesabre
09-03-2007, 15:40
Thanks, I figured him as a well to do old man so he's bound to have a matching coat and hat :D He'll probly be the only hobbit I do with black clothing though, I dont think it'll be appropriate for the farmer types that make up the rest of the collection.

lilljonas
09-03-2007, 17:00
Yes, the browns and black matched very well, good choice of colours. :)

Dragonreaver
09-03-2007, 18:34
Heh, when they're at the undercoat stage, the ones with the top hats remind me of Michael Jackson in Moonwalker :p Especially the guy on the horse in the second picture in the thread _

They're looking great though, especially the guy waving his hat in the second-last picture.

10-03-2007, 02:14
I really like this, both as an idea, and how you're doing it.
Are the bases pre-sacking of the shire or post-sacking of the shire?

Have you done every hobbit character by now?

Rogue 7
10-03-2007, 02:32
Argh...They look good, and it's great to see LOTR figs on here, but it needs to be said...Poor Paladin Took looks like he's got his eyes gouged out.

Bluesabre
10-03-2007, 04:15
Heh, unfortunately for Paladin he has some very deep set eyes so it gives that impression, but hey he is a very old hobbit.

The base's are just how I do all my Lotr bases bar a few exceptions.

I still have a few more characters to do yet.

And there will be plenty more Lotr before this thread comes close to being finished :D

Bluesabre

Really great hobbits !!

I have a small critique tough : the feather in Bombadil's hat is a blue blur ... or maybe it's the picture that dulls the colors, but I think it would look better in a bright, joyous, contrasting color.

Bluesabre
01-10-2007, 08:49
Thanks for the comment.

After having another look at the feather in question, I believe I shall revisit it with the brush and make it a bit more colourful, not just a big loose thread hanging off his hat.

Hehe, thanks.

Progress update time, have now started on the next batch of figures.
This includes a Paladin style character:

And a unit of Swiftaxe's, grunts with 2h axes:

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Reaper%20Miniatures/Swiftaxeswip.jpg

As always they'll be following along the same colour scheme etc.

Recently placed a couple of orders for someof the newer figures in the range including a bear riding lass with a HUGE sword, a dire bear, and an earth elemental as well as a couple of individual troop types.

Thanks for looking.

Looking good. Unfortunately you have some bad mold lines/mis-allignment problems on the axes. :( Blame Reaper.

You got the names of Pippin and Merry the wrong way round...should I be surprised that I am the first to mention it?

Thanks for the comments.

After doing some other painting type stuff I finally got around to doing Herryk.

Here he is in all his priestly glory.

Herryk Aesir:

Next up will be Logan Battlefury, followed by King Thorgram. That will finish off the initial batch that I collected. There will of course be many more to follow after that.

King Thorgram is next, then we shall be moving onto my next batch of purchases including a Dire Bear, Lesser Earth Elemental and some pathfinders to mention a few.

Thanks for looking as always, and comments crits on what I've done are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking as always.

Finished the Dire Bear yesterday, as you can see drybrushing played a major role here.

http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Reaper%20Miniatures/DireBear1.jpghttp://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l126/bluesabre/Reaper%20Miniatures/DireBear2.jpg

Now that he's done, the order of things to do goes something like this: 2 Miners, Psychotic dwarf riding similarly psychotic boar, 2 Pathfinders and too finish this batch off a lesser Earth Elemental.

So far the bases have all been done and the figures undercoated black.

Until next time, Thanks for looking.

Comments/Crits always welcomed.
