Absolutely stupid if you ask me.

As far as I know, the modification wasn't made by Rockstar Games but a different, independent person. Why would Rockstar Games have to "pay" for that?

I'd like to avoid turning this into a P&R discussion, but it shows you how much worse pixel-nudity has to be compared to shooting, killing or running people over with cars.

All in all I don't even expect decreasing sales for San Andreas, quite the opposite will be the case I guess. Can you get any better advertising for a game?

I just can't agree with the motives behind the move...

Which is exactly why I think the programmers left it in there for a reason. THe way I understand it is that it was part of the original version, but the programmers hid it but didn't remove it. A simple patch fixed that. And I thik it was done on purpose. Because you can't beat the shock value when it comes to increased sales.

it surprises them such mods are made for that game?,... IMO it was only a matter of time before some freak programmer did it

me, I don`t care,.... I allways though SA lame anyway (not only SA,...I hate the whole GTA thing)

There isnt even nudity, or so I've heard. All they do is grind against each other and groan.

this content was made by rockstar according to Septembers issue of PC Zone, but was "removed" (obviously wasn't though) all the mod does is allow access to it.

Entirely possible that just deleting that code could have made the rest of the game unusable or bugged. Better to just lock it off instead of disrupting game runtime.

According to norwegian newspapers, the code was hidden in the game, as part of the original version, and the alleged sex scenes are about what you get in an average Sex and the City episode.

Good to see these protesters have got their priorities right.

Murder, protitution, drug abuse, theft, assault and car-bombs are fine in a game, but sh***y porn scenes? No way Hose!

It's always been 18+ in the UK anyway.

This (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php?date=2005-07-20&res=l) Penny Arcade strip pretty much explains Rockstar's standpoint on whole thing right now. :p

Having seen the actual clip (downloaded it) I can say it's (a little) more than just grinding, as the girl is naked, but still

in sweden to.

but a AO (adult only) rating in the US could mean a loss in sales for rockstar since parents that would consider buying a M (mature) rated game for their children might reconsider it now.

just hope that this new "improved" version doesen´t hinder the multiplayer mod thats in the making.

Who takes a blind bit of notice of these ratings anyhow? Just get an older friend, or a liberal minded parent to buy it for you. I remember once when i was buying GTA 3 i tried to buy it with my dad standing next to me, the check out guy wouldnt let me buy it so i just handed my money to my dad who in turn handed it to the check out guy. It seemed stupid at the time.

It was quite funny when i saw this kid in his school uniform try to buy San Andreas, talk about stupid  .

I work at a Best Buy and personally had to round up all of our copies of San Andreas and get them prepped for shipment from our store because Best Buy is choosing not to sell the game anymore. Though, oddly enough, we got more strategy guides for the game after we sent the games back.

Not only "could" an AO rating hurt sales, it will. Period. Many, many stores in the US simply will not carry any game with an AO rating.

On a related note, The Sims 2 has come under attack: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/37899

I wonder if God of War is next?

But Sims don't have genitals, even if you'd remove the blur (at least they didn't in the original game). :eyebrows:

What is it with Americans and sex anyway? This is slowly turning inot the plot of South Park: The Movie.
