So, here are the first two of my AI birds...

Otto's Lightning:

...and Wing commander Ernst Ritter's Lozenge camouflaged (in a WWI Stylee) Thud:

This is an actual Camouflage scheme from WWI (yes, I know it looks weird)

You can clearly see the neodynium magnets on the stick and bottom of the plane...

It always amused me that the scheme was actually printed on the canvas used to make the planes not painted on. Anyone for Paisley planes, or tartan, yeah tartan..

I love flamboyant camouflage. Dazzle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazzle_camouflage) is my particular favourite.
Mentioned in 'Double Eagle', too
"The delta winged double-props were painted in a grey and white dazzle, and running North hard, possibly at the top of their performance"

very cool! I just started painting an ace lightning based on the 25th anniversary edition RAAF F/A-18 (http://www.amv83.net/asm/Sig/australie/F-18%2020ans%20RAAF%201.jpg) myself.

Very cool... sorta... I think the tail emblems on a Otto's seems a bit large.

fattdex - looking forward to seeing that :)

I sort of agree - I very nearly took them off after the first one was on there, but I'm sort of happy with them now. I must do something about those transfer borders though...

I just bought this (http://livres.histoireetcollections.com/en/publication-1284-messerschmitt-me-109-volume-1.html) and this (http://livres.histoireetcollections.com/en/publication-1301-messerschmitt-me-109-vol-2.html).
Lots of pages on variant camouflages, command markings etc.

I'm planning on doing the rest of the squadron in wwII messerschmitt me109 type schemes, except the second lightning, another lozenge variant, and the Marauder destroyer, which I've yet to decide on.

Pretty cool... not a big fan of the High-Viz lightning though.

The Tbolt is nice however.

How do you do the canopy glass?

How do you do the canopy glass?
Canopies are painted black, then one corner is shaded with progressively lighter blues, the opposite corner has a highlight of white.

You have quite successfully put those planes on the zazz train to zazz-ville.

I once went to Zazz-ville....it was shut....and it rained all day :D

Nice scheme by the way - as for using WW2 german colors - oK

Me I prefer some of the USAAF Escort fighter schemes for the P47 T-bolt and P51 Mustangs as well as the schemes for the B17s and B24s for the marauders.

Though saying this I cannot paint any better than a 4 armed spastic chimpanzee......:cries:
