Couple more pictures. Please ignore the crappy painting, nothing more than testing paint schemes

I'm just starting a LotD army so I'm interested how this thread will pan out.

What do you intend to use for your traitors?

Edit. Duh! you posted before me!

Love the zombies.

14-03-2007, 01:33
For traitors im using imperial guard models with quick simple conversions. Banner poles, small chaos signs and spikes - chaos always needs spikes.

14-03-2007, 01:36
cheers. Theyre such easy models to make. Also impressive on the table the squad keeps shuffling forward

14-03-2007, 03:36
Great idea with the zombie guardsmen! What zombie boxed set did you use? I've been playing around with making some renegade guardsmen and mutants for my chaos force as well, already picked up a beastmen box, a chaos squad with lots of bits, and some catachans. gonna mix them with the cadians I already have in bits form.

14-03-2007, 03:53
One suggestion I would make is to remove the eagles off the front plates of the sentinals.

As another chaos IG/LatD/renagade collector I will be watching this therad with intrest.

14-03-2007, 18:28
@ Norsehawk: the zombie guardsmen are are standard zombies mixed with cadian models.
zombie regiment

@Ixidor10024 - the eagles and other imperial iconography are going to be partially defaced to show that the sentinels have turned against the Imperium.

Glad to hear from fellow LaTD players

Very solid looking army so far, really inspired conversions going on. Everything looks pleasantly apocalyptic, or flat out insane, rotten and mutated. Possibly only the AC I'm not a fan of, as there's something off in how you biggerized them - too long torsos maybe, with the smaller legs. Dunno ... but great looking traitors, particularly the kasrkin ones.

Hes not made it into the list as a hulking great chaos lord of :cheese: doesnt fit in with the horde approach. However it is my favourite model

15-03-2007, 00:20
sweet jebus, someone's been eating their wheaties....

15-03-2007, 00:36
He's one big hombre! Is that a standard base or 40mm? If standard, I think he'd be better off on one a bit larger. Gives more scope for modelling base detail too.

Just a thought.

Had a productive nigth working on an alternate Aspiring Champion.
Quite like the way this model is progressing it still needs lots of work. He still needs a bloated nurgle type body, some more piping on the body and arms. Shoulder pads need work and the butchers cleaver needs lots of work.

Sweet combi-bolter. I am gonna steal that concept.

02-06-2007, 23:25
yeah reli nice work, good to see a non FW LATD army!

02-06-2007, 23:30
First thing I noticed here was that you gave the AC a Power fist and Dread Axe... Unfortunately, this has made me need to post straight away without looking at the pics (will look when I've posted this)...

A power fist is fine, but a Dread Axe only ignores Invulnerable saves, which means unless you're fighting Daemons or a few other rarely seen things, its completely useless as they'll still get their armour save... Because you can't combine the efects of weapons, so no S8 armou and invul ignoring weapons...

I would say take a Dark Blade instead, but the Power Fist defeats the point of that other than the initiative thing, so its kinds expensive... Instead of the Dread Axe, make it a Power Weapon and Daemonic Strength, a bit cheaper, and works much better... so then you have the choice of low I with Str 9 or high I with strength 5... you're call though...

Your lord is awesome, your champions are also awesome, as are the everything else. We will watch this thread with interest...

looking good!

love the conversion work, but you gotta try and keep the conversions cohesive IMO. the aspiring champs are fantastic.

Looks really cool, buried_alive. Your Big Boss is made of pure AWESOME, and them Zombies are sweet. I also really like your Hortwerth mark Chaos Space Marines. Kudos, man.

Time for another periodic update

Squad of nurgle possessed. Great fun to model and paint unfortunately they dont fit in with the army. 5 flying possessed w/MoN costs almost as much as 15 leaping mutants.

Few WIP shots

'troops' choice

Painting so many models is a chore! This is just the traitors, mutants and demons still need work lol

Recent additions - a liberated Leman Russ

and a defiler

11-07-2007, 16:20
I do like the possessed!

15-07-2007, 12:15

Traitor Squad with Agitator and heavy stubber.

Still not certain on the traitors colourscheme. Thinking brown boots and grey helmets.

15-07-2007, 12:19

Mutants WIP. They will share the same uniform colourscheme as the traitors.
Mutations and skin shades will be reds, blues and purple

15-07-2007, 12:23
Apart from sharing the same uniform colourscheme the army will be held together by frequent use of purity seals, in classic imperial colourscheme, across all squads - mutants, traitors

Left shoulder pads will denote squad markings. Traitors will have a black shoulder pad with a numerical transfer from the IG sheet e.g 6,7,8,9

Nice conversions to make those traitors look suitably traitorous. I like the ork shootas.

Not as sold on your aspiring champions though. The torsos look too long for the body. However, I like the mixing of fantasy and 40K bits.

Mutants and zombies look ace so far.

Hi Guys its time for another sporadic update. With the new Codex Chaos Space Marines making CodexEoT obsolte I lost all interest in finishing my LaTD force.

The current discussion about the new Chaos Codex (Demonica?) has rekindled my interest in the army.
Jervis Johnston claimed GW would not be releasing new armies for 40k, concentrating on exsisting armies. The new C:CSM nerfs the big 4 chaos legions, demons and LaTD..... I have a feeling the new chaos codex will be a revamped C:EoT.

So to the updates:

Decided on a colourscheme: All Ex-Imperial models will be a dirty green, brown and bronze colour scheme. With the odd patch of colour and general chaos-ness. The painting style is deliberatly dirty - to show how the former Imperials have fallen and become slaves to chaos.
In contrast all pure chaos models will be painted in bright clean colours

27-11-2007, 13:15
Troops, meatshields, unknowns - chaos cares not...

27-11-2007, 13:16
the fallen

27-11-2007, 13:17
the big guns

27-11-2007, 13:22
To do next:

zombies: they will follow the possesed colour scheme
mutants: Imperial parts of the model will follow dirty colour scheme above and the mutations will be bright like the demons.

27-11-2007, 15:10
Very nice looking traitors!

Not a fan of the silver feet on the sentinals, just looks too out of place!

Loving the conversions and wretchedness of the horde.

27-11-2007, 16:19
I don't like those sentinal feet either but the rest of the army is looking great.
