Since it appears GW is giving us new rules for Mordheim whether we want them or not, I have been trying to consider all the possible advantages to this rather than dwelling on the negative.

One idea that I kind of like is the chance that we will be able to add some of the newer weapons to the game. For instance, repeater pistols, handguns, and grenade launchers could add some interesting new twist to the game. I can think of several Skaven weapons that could change the dynamic as well.

So what do you guys think, is it a good idea to bring in some more big guns or not?

Yes that would be a good thing. Also I hope they review some of the weapons. For example IMO I don't think a Mace, Club and Staff should have the same stats/cost. I know I know that may be too confusing...I do think that grenade launchers wont make the cut though hahaha. There is an experimental Dwarf sapper list that allows them to take "grenades" though

Actually I went back to the 7th edition Empire book and saw that it is called a Grenade Launching Blunderbuss. I also thought it was an area effect weapon, but it is just a single armor piercing strength 6 hit. Impressive, but not really the weapon I was thinking it was.

While I think having new weapons would be nice, I hope GW avoids capitalizing on novelty by including a bunch of new weapons. I would rather they fix things like the useless armor and 2 handers first. Besides I like the technology Mordheim has. I don't want to see commandos with MP5s running around.

Yeah I agree. Somethings need some work I think.

There are several options for armour that Specialist Games are currently working on to make it better.

I agree about the mace, club, and staff having different rules though. Well, staff different anyway - mace and club are pretty much the same.

One of the more common house rules for staff is making it a mace that takes two hands and can parry.

Yeah a mace is basically a metal club with maybe some blunt spikes right? I was thinking maybe -1 to armor but honestly it's not a nessesity. I like the sound of thoes house rules. I'll have to bring them up tomorrow

Greetings,

Ah, it will be a sad day indeed if GW takes away the current variety and special rules aviable to Mordheim players in the rules that are currently aviable. If GW tries to simply the rules of exisitng weapons to add new, oh I lament that day indeed! All of the characterful rules for such things as Axes, Swords, and Rapiers could be reduced to simply "hand weapon".

In the current ruleset for Mordheim, such weapons as the Hunting Rifle, Pistol, and Dueling Pistols are priced relatively high for two reasons. They are somewhat better than the standard bow and arrow, and amongst the mercenary warbands in the City of the Damned are seen as a sign of prestige. The same logic should apply to the Gernade Launching Blunderbuss and the Repeating Handgun.

Thanks,
Bluegrass

Yes it would be disapointing if they did change it to just hand weapon, but ITT we're talking about new aditions to the equipment.

I think they cold change rules and add misc. equipment as well. For example the rope and hook. The rules seem too simple.

Sadly, we must come to the realization that if Skirmish is made as a supplement for WFB that it will be nothing like our beloved game. The special rules and gear we have now will be toned down a great deal, because it would simply take too long to cover the weapons, gear, and other trappings that the current established warbands have. After all, WFB: Skirmish will have to cover every available WFB army that has an army book or ever will have an army book.

Compare the print runs of Town Cryer, Fanatic Magazine, and the current online articles that SG post -- and then compare it to how many books are published for WFB. GW may see the need to reclassify everything for the sake of ease in play.

Thanks.
