View Full Version : The 750 point Challenge! (750pts, 1 month)

The 750 point challenge is pretty simple…I tryto paint and base 750 points of any given army to my very highest standard in one month. I then paint 750 points of another army in one month and so on and so forth until all my projects are finished…

This new idea is partly to keep me focused on one project and help me improve my painting skills and so I can get my various projects done faster and hopefully will not end up with a number of unfinished armies sitting in the loft as I’m sure many other gamers will have (secretly hoping they will paint themselves :D we’ve all been there I’m sure)

It would also be great to get feedback and ideas from you guys on whatever project I’m working on as well as any ideas for the next months project etc. You will notice that I will be rolling my other project logs into this one, Space wolves and Eldar…

So the rough timetable is…

March: Eldar: Autarch with Banshee retinue (mounted in falcon), 10 dire avengers, 10 Guardians, A viper, 3 bikes and a war walker (I haven’t written the list yet so that may be a little over 750)

April: Space wolves (true scale) veteran company: wolf lord and wolf guard in terminator armour, 2 packs of 6 grey hunters, venerable dread, 5 long fangs (again list not written yet so that’s rough)

May: month off for GCSE’s + a few small modelling projects e.g. test models during revision breaks…

June (summer holidays YAY) Adeptes Mechanicus: techpriest +kick ass body guard, command squad (40pts, may not even field them) 3 squads of 6 storm troopers in chimeras, 2 sentinals, 2 leman Russ (knight titans, pics of an of your appreciated nearer the time) (oh and that list also wont add up :D)

So marches project is to finish 750 points of Eldar before April (although I all ready have a lot
of it done and as I have 5 grey hunters finished already I can over shoot a little bit.)

Here is a shot of the slightly modified guardsmen (bone guns) from my old army…

I hope to have this squad finished tonight as most of the work is done + A WIP banshee shortly and some updated Dire avengers….Comments and Criticisms welcome! (as I said I’m trying to improve so any techniques I may find use full would be great…oh and don’t feel mean to criticise!)

Thanks for reading!

Ok, just a few ideas for you to mull over, Firstly im thinking I will make the Falcon and Autarch dedicated to howling banshees so the whole unit (banshees lord and falcon) have a unifying theme, what do you think and how could this be achieved??? (I was thinking swords painted down the tank hull)

Also im now considering drop troop Admech (using elsian jump packs and heads but high elfe legs cadian torsos etc) what do you think??

I will try to get some more of banshees finished tonight...Till then..

Forget the Admech for now, concentrate on the 750 points of Eldar. You nearly fell at the first hurdle!!!

Guardians are looking great. Simple but effective scheme. I like the idea of personalising the wave serpent. Could you paint a Banshee Mask on to it?

Better yet, look up the Eldar runes for Banshees, and paint that on their transport.

Nice looking paint scheme. It's real close to a paint scheme i came up with for my theoretical Eldar army.

@ Luthien - Exactly what I thought! I've never noticed large amounts of junk in Eldar trunks before ... Maybe the older sculpt is just more bootilicious? :wtf:

Best of luck though with the small armies, I dig it.

Very nice gerard, the pictures really make the blending standout well.

One thing though:

Here is a shot of the slightly modified guardsmen (bone guns) from my old army…

Something's wrong here, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Keep it up!
