View Full Version : A few good (beast)men

29-03-2007, 20:13
Needing yet another reasonn to leave my Sisters of Battle on the shelf, I've decided to make a few Tzaangors for my beastman army.

There's going to be 4 in total, 1 Beastlord and 3 Wargors.

The obvious place to start was to use a beastman model, and since I have an excess amount of gors I decided to use them for something finally. Since they're Tzeentch, they need to have something weird about them and where better to look than using some flamers?

Since the Beastlord will be using the Staff of Change, he needs to have a suitably large staff (Stop giggling Konrad...) Using the standard pole that's in the herd box and a spare wood elve standard seemed appropriate. These are still obviously WIP so a few more details will be added to make it more unique.

I didn't like the idea of my Beastlord having a pony tail, so I opted for the somewhat cliché of head tentacles for him. I'll be adding one or two more that will wrap around the staff a bit more.

All of the gors are going to be armed with Tzeentchified staves, this is the beginings of the second gors staff, it will have an abundance of tentacles (sounds like a dodgey anime or something doesn't it?).

Anyway, stay tuned for an update tomorrow hopefully when I've figured out what the other arm for my beastlord will be...probably a tentacle... Comments, ideas and criticism are always welcome and appreciated.

(Apologies for the lame title pun)

Looks great so far... that first one seems to be looking down a little bit, but meh... I think I saw this kind of conversion somewhere before...

What are they called? Bestigors? yeah... or Tzaangors like you said cos of there mark... how come your only doing 4?

29-03-2007, 20:23
How'd you know i'd giggle. Looking good man

Cool project, I like where it's headed already. And you can never have too many tentacles, not that that's my thing per se ...

Best of luck!

Nothing wrong with some good tentacles

I think you need 9 of these not 4. Don't straggle these are too nice not to give full praise to Tzeentch

9 would be nice for the sake of fluffiness. However, since I can only have 4 heroes/lords in 2000 points I'm only going to make 4.

Depending on how they turn out, I may make a full unit of them, but it's somewhat unlikely due to the costs involved. Thanks for the comments though, keep 'em coming! :D

Here's a size comparison between a normal gor and the Tzaangor. Since gors are already quite big, this Tzaangor is almost double the size of a human which is quite good for a hero/lord character I think.

This is the colour scheme I intend to use for the Tzaangors, the flamer legs might blend to a much brighter blue, with some purple bits.
Just some more tentacles..
Not sure whether or not to use this genestealer arm or not. I could really do with some help for ideas on this bit.

Nice work Ravik. So far it's a great looking conversion.

Why not throw some feathered wings on the Beatlord? Perhaps you could use smaller ones from a Warmaster model so they don't overwhelm the model.

Hey, do have any shots of your other beastmen? I'm likeing the colour scheme you got going there.

That's a really cool bestman.

It's a nice color scheme too.

Good stuff all 'round

I really like the inventiveness and dynamism of these guys. The only thing I'd suggest is buling up the join between the torso and the flamer, or add some armour/chainmail etc to disguise it as they seem to go very thin very fast. Loving the idea though, looking forward to seeing more!

I like the skin color- Very Tzeentchy, but they look like beasttau.

i like what youve done so far
id say go with the genestealer arm, it works

01-04-2007, 09:06
Cool beast you got there :skull: And you should go with the genestealer arm. It looks tzentchy.

Nice to see more Tzeentch stuff in Edinburger. Tzeentch is the only true Chaos power. All the rest are too organised!

Tzeentch FTW! Nice models too btw... Although I agree with everybody else, make a unit! 18 strong should be sufficient. :D

01-04-2007, 19:06
yeah... stealer arm look good... maybe clip off any of the extra spiky bits and fill the gap things... just to make it look less niddy... keep it up :)

Tzeentch is the only true Chaos power.

Don't tell lies on the internet.

Apart from the fact that these poor goats are abviously misguided and have started worshipping some sort of blue chicken, I do like the conversions. A lot.
I'd use a lot more colours on them than on the normal Gor though - Tzeentch looks good in clashy shades.

Don't tell lies on the internet.

No lies! Tzeentch is truely random! Tzeentch is pure Chaos! lol! :D

Nurgle is cool and all but you can't beat the old Changer!

Quick update for now. Making my Tzeentch army that much bigger thanks to eBay.

Lord of Change, Lord on a Disc, 4 Flamers, 10 Horrors and a spawn. Got all this for half the price :D

Also, I got myself a couple of treats too.
The special edition Lord of Tzeentch on a Disc and a good ol' Dragon Ogre Shaggoth (who may be Tzeentch-ified).

My army isn't doing too well on the battlefield however, so if people can send some Tzeentch Beast tips my way I'd really appreciate it.

12-04-2007, 17:56
Shaggoth who MAY be Tzeentchified? Why would you not want a giant death monster that also has access to Orange Fire? Rerolls on all the killy death he can dish out! Or Yellow Fire for a Ward save.

12-04-2007, 18:11
Oh he's getting the Mark of Tzeentch alright, just not sure about converting him at all. It's such a nice model, don't want to ruin it.

I'll just make him blue, that should do it :D

12-04-2007, 18:17
Give him a Tzeentch symbol branded into his skin. Thin layer of GS somewhere then use a sculpting tool to draw the shape. Or you could tattoo him with blue paint over a normalish skin tone.

A few subtle conversions, such as the head tentacles should tie the shagoth in with the rest of the army nicely

13-04-2007, 19:25
Love the paint scheme and the conversions. The 'stealer arm looks sweet.

Also love the avatar pic, Id ;)

(*is a XG nut*)

Looking forward to seeing more.

Great conversion, I really think it captures the Tzeentch feel to it.

Excaclty. Give him dreadlock-tentacles please :D

No really, do it.

Great work so far.

A really nice conversion there with the flamers. I`m so jealous of that special edition model. Keep up the good work. Nice tzeenchy colour scheme too.:D

An update, whodathunkit? Been very lazy with painting and stuff lately actually. Though I've got a tournament at the begining of next month which is helping to get me motivated to get stuff finished.

This is the undivided/slaanesh that usually tags along with the rest of the army.

I'm probably gonna make the bases dark and snowy, it seems to fit better than the usual green I use.

And here's the badboy himself. My Beastlord with his Staff of Change. And some horror beside him.

Another shot of the Beastlord and the other horror.

Obviously they're still WIP but I hope to have them finished by tomorrow, so gonna paint them up tonight at the local GW. Not sure how I'm gonna do that Staff though, will hopefully come up with something soon.

Ideas/comments/general slagging off is always welcome!

21-08-2007, 16:26
Blend orange to yellow on the staff maybe? should compliment the blue/purple body well.

25-08-2007, 01:34
can u tell how u did the flesh on the gor? it looks great
