View Full Version : Beautiful Deadly Children - the Slaaneshi Chaos Sisters army

30-07-2005, 21:50

I just finished the command cadre of the Beautiful Deadly Children (as the client named the army).

Please note the bare breast is a motiff running through the entire army.

These include the Mistress:

The Rogue Psyker (or Lieutenant with Sorcerer upgrade if that is not allowed), wasting an Imperial psyker with her power:

And there's the Chosen squad, all Aspiring Champions mounted on Steeds:

The closeups of the Chosen Squad:

Purple Steed:

Golden mask:

Blue Steed:

And the Icon:

Hope you like them!

Next I'll be doing some more, when I get back from vacation in the second part of August.
I'm to try and finish something like 5 units by the end of October, which will be hard.

Its a pity that such good painting was given such a poor name by your client.

30-07-2005, 21:57
They are great. Especially the first one.
Although I must say that I'm not so fond of the sword the boss-sororita is carriing. Someting like a banshee sword or the one of the WHF slannesh campion would have been better.

30-07-2005, 21:59
Wow man this is an assload of conversions! they're awfully good, except that the daemonettes legs are too small for the sisters' body.

30-07-2005, 22:00
It's a Daemon Sword Drach'Nyen to represent a Dark Blade. I just wanted to give her something nasty rather than graceful ;)

30-07-2005, 22:09
Wow, that is the most amazing slaanesh army I have ever seen.

I assume that is either a master, or a showcase (probably the later) army, how much did it cost, if you are allowed to reveal that sort of information, and how long did it take you to complete?

The icon is spectacular, with the exception of the name,

Astounding, superb, terrific, great, wonderful, wow

30-07-2005, 22:33

The amount of conversion makes it Showcase to me, but the painting could be a bit cleaner. I'm sure Sebastian (my boss) would find a dozen spots to touch up if I told him I treat it as Showcase, so I just didn't really told him anything ;)

It was about Ł600 for these 7 models, plus the cost of parts, etc. I based the prices on Master level with bonuses for cutting and sculpting, as I wasn't sure if I can handle these colours up to Showcase level.

I started them in April...

But got the first parts in the end of May...

And then had to wait to mid-June for 4 Daemonettes on Steeds.

So it's about 2,5 months.

30-07-2005, 22:36
Well, just to say, that's bloody impressive, how much does the microart take from you?

30-07-2005, 22:43
I like, I like.

30-07-2005, 22:57
Well, just to say, that's bloody impressive, how much does the microart take from you?

That I shall not tell ;)

But we have to pay for the Studio, energy, water... modelling and painting materials (though I use my own), resin, and much more...

Right now the Studio (painting "department") has to earn enough to get the whole MAS running. We also have production "dept", which right now is working on a minimal percentage of its capabilities... it's the bases and terrain that you can buy at our webstore and in some shops.

We have no person now to handle the contacts with the shops, but this will change - I will take care of this at the end of August.

I can just hope I will have enough time for this, painting and my studies, which I shall end at the beginning of 2006. I have a degree to write and pass...

30-07-2005, 23:01
:chrome: Naked Slaaneshi nuns are a tired subject, but these are the best painted I've ever seen!

So here's another synonyme for great: Spanking! (pun intended ;))

EDIT: Grammar is your friend.

30-07-2005, 23:04
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Has to be one of the best Slaanesh 40K armies I've ever seen.

Stunning work. The steeds are especially good. What more can be said?

31-07-2005, 22:49
I have always been a fan of slaanesh, and have gone through 2 slaanesh armies. After seing these I am in love with slaanesh again. I was curious, if this were to be done as a whole army, how would the basic troops be made? I have been toying with combining Sister of battle and chaos marine pieces, but there is just too large of a size difference. Any suggestions?

31-07-2005, 23:12

Fantastic I must say!

But as TG said, too bad that your client picked such a bad name...

31-07-2005, 23:18
Nice painting!

well done!

bad name.. ohh well not your probalem!

01-08-2005, 00:25
yes but he can always change the name later, just have to have the fig repainted.

but on the other post using sisters and chaos marines, i would suggest using the sisters themselves as the chaos marines, why swap parts, they are allready in power armor, and you would only need 2-3 squads and could use deamonettes for the rest, or do like he has done and mix n match the 2 together

this is making me want to start a EC army, or just add a couple elites to my black legion.

01-08-2005, 00:53
Very, very well painted. The idea isn't new but who cares, it's very well executed. The weapons are a bit too big for my likings though.

01-08-2005, 01:26
Very very nice. The only thing I don't really like is the mistress' sword, which looks way too big and bulky for her.. Her wings, on the other hand, are stunning.

Ass Goblin
01-08-2005, 02:58
Those are amazing! Too bad about the name though. Sounds kinda silly. How long did it take you to make them?

01-08-2005, 04:40
their right nip is showing! jk, nice models.

01-08-2005, 10:01
its a nice paint job, but i don't like the chosen.

i don't think the steeds look right when a sister rides them, just my personal opinion

01-08-2005, 10:25

Though I HAVE to ask you, how did you manage to position that flying skull on the Mistres's base?

Have you hidden wire in the wool?

01-08-2005, 10:52
hortworth's stuff=teh win

it must be said.

theyre stunning, utterly beutiful.

and, it looks as though that phsycher is massaging or pinching, or just fondeling her boob for phsychic energy.

am i right?

03-08-2005, 18:31
um, get this man a Golden Demon - stat!

03-08-2005, 18:42
Bloody hell that work is amazing!

03-08-2005, 19:00
Realy fking great models there, and i have a name for them: Death from pointy nipples of slaanesh haha!

03-08-2005, 20:48
Awsome work, only critism are the tiny little daemonette legs comming out from under the (relitivly) bulky torso armor.

Mainly im just a big fan of nipple-slips

04-08-2005, 20:29
Thanks for your opinions.

The skull is mounted on a tin wire, with flames sculpted around it with epoxy putty, then wool was wrapped around when the putty was hard.

The Daemonette legs - yes, I agree, but the client seems to like a bit exaggerated stuff.

If I were to make them again, I'd probably used Death Cult Assassins bodies for every of them, just the face and arms would have to be changed.

The Psyker was to tear her dress in extasy as her power fries another psyker's soul, or something ;)

04-08-2005, 21:25
i like the deamonette legs, people have to remember these women are wearing power armor, remove the power armor, they are probly not much bigger than a deamonette.

04-08-2005, 23:57
Also note I tried to bulk them up a bit by sculpting the thigh armour plates - it really helps to blend the legs into the torso, you should try painting one without these armourplates and you'll see the difference.

I know the proportions don't match in these models, but I didn't sculpt them much as they are cute for me and very GW, especially when it comes to proportions.

05-08-2005, 00:00
@ WHoever has complained about the name

My guess is they were named after the band "Beautiful Deadly Children"

05-08-2005, 10:11
*jaw hits ground*

Absolutely beautiful.

05-08-2005, 14:19
BEAUTIFUL. I love th color schemes and conversion work in them!!!!!!
Do you have any more to post?

05-08-2005, 21:17
BEAUTIFUL. I love th color schemes and conversion work in them!!!!!!
Do you have any more to post?

When I get back from my vacation I'll start the next stage of this army, hopefully to be finished by the end of October (quite unlikely, really, but I'll do my best).

There'll be 12 Daemonettes with slight conversion work (to make everyone in a different pose), 2 squads of 6 Sisters with Sonic Blasters, one with Blastmaster and Champion - one with Lightning Claws, the other with Power Weapon, and 4 bikes, with Blasters, meltaguns and Champion.
The bikes are to be more "sleek", but I haven't thought how I want to do it for now.

05-08-2005, 21:35
DE Reaver jetbikes?

05-08-2005, 22:45
I thought about it, but this will make the already expensive army ridiculously expensive when it comes to parts cost alone.

I thought of something like filing the front wheel to half width, not using the front wheel cover, modelling a new smaller and smoother fairing and foot-rest, and maybe using some Eldar jetbike guardian's legs I have lying around and waiting for conversion I seem I cannot finish...

05-08-2005, 23:18
you would be better off trying to find totally different wheels from like funny care race kits. that would give the skinny front tire chopper style your looking for, the fender could be made from plasticard heated and bent around something like a 3/4" dowel rod.

same with foot pegs, use just that, pegs like a regular bike, shouldnt be too hard to make.

06-08-2005, 12:09
OMG!!!

So loving those minis - I've been in a quandry as to which army to do next but wowee! Suffice it to say that a nuns with guns 'n stuff army is soooo on the cards!!!! :D

06-11-2005, 00:23
After much time, the commission is nearing its end.

I have almost all the models completed and sent to the client. On the shelf are left Loxatl and the last Sisters squad.

I'm still sculpting a Spawn, but this should be a matter of a week or two.

Therefore, I'd like to present you all the units forming the army.

In addition to the HQ models presented on the first page of this thread, there are:

Earthworm Champion's Sisters:

Masked Champion's Sisters:

Elven Champion's Sisters:

06-11-2005, 00:26

There's one more of them, whom I made a bit later when it turned out there'll be 2 units of 3 of them.

Golden Daemonettes:

Silver Daemonettes:

06-11-2005, 00:28

And the bikers:

The biker Champion won me the Best Painted S-F miniature award at Bazyliszek 2005, Polish largest all-wargames con.

06-11-2005, 00:42
Damn that is some fine converting and painting! You should be proud sir!

The pestilent 1
06-11-2005, 00:50
Beutiful army (might i enquire as to what parts went into the bikes?)
Shame about the choice of name though. :(

06-11-2005, 07:33
Shame about the choice of name though. :(

This seems to bother most of people :)

might i enquire as to what parts went into the bikes?

Dark Eldar Jetbike with cut off engine nozzle, Chaos bike rear wheel and pipes with cut-off foot rest, chaos bike front wheel filed to half the width, dark eldar bike front plate cut in half for the front and engine cover. Greenstuff to fill the gaps and sculpt the folded area on the rear wheel to match the front and engine cover.

Hideous Loon
06-11-2005, 10:19
Wow. Those Bikes... I don't know what to say. (Perhaps "OMG there grate d00d!!!1!11!1111!!eleven" would suffice...) They're the bestest Slaaneshi Bikes ever. Period.

And did I say: "Wow"?

06-11-2005, 11:34
very well painted, i love the blastmaster in the masked squad.

but something still bugs me about this army, its very well painted i just never liked the sister of battle bare heads, os its an army that is very well painted but one that i can't bring myself to go "wow" at, no offence :)

and yes, the name is a bit ick :)

06-11-2005, 11:41
They look superb!

I'd like to know how you did the skin color on the daemonettes?

06-11-2005, 13:25
Amazin, astounding *Tries to find better adjectives* .... *fails*

Brilliant, I love the bikers, they are top notch.

Very very cool

06-11-2005, 16:59

Just... Bloody... Amazing!

Great job!

The glade wanderer

06-11-2005, 21:27
I'd like to know how you did the skin color on the daemonettes?

It's the same as for all the Sisters.

Dwarf Flesh base, highlighted with mixing white into it in growing proportions for each highlight. The top highlight is white broken with a bit of dwarf flesh. Without any other flesh colour in-between it results in a rather cold tone.

06-11-2005, 21:45
very impressive

are going to make more units?

06-11-2005, 23:30
As for now, it seems that possibly one more sister to the last unit (as the client haven't noticed for 2 months that we constantly talked about 5, whereas he seemed to want 6) and a totally sculpted slaaneshi spawn.

Later it's possible that there will be Judgment Throne and Penitend Engine converted, with Daemonettes rather than imperial agents.

It doesn't seem any more infantry units will be added.

BTW, have anyone noticed the Daemonettes are converted? half of them have their heads swapped around so that no two models are the same.

07-11-2005, 18:07
ya very nice Hortwerth,
nid legs on the steed riders?

07-11-2005, 18:25
very nice work! shame about the name though. how much have they payed for them? i noticed you said something about it a while back but you did not mention currency. £ or $?

07-11-2005, 18:38
The "Banshee" mini-diorama is great stuff.

07-11-2005, 22:45
Wow... that's all I can realy say. Wow.
I saw this when you first posted the lord (lady?) and the chosen, and I was blown away then. Now I'm considering selling off a kidney so that I can have you make ME an army :D

08-11-2005, 17:37
nid legs on the steed riders?

No nid parts there. Just the rider cut off at waist and a new one attached. Just a bit of armour sculpted on.

08-11-2005, 23:37
Really fine work. And the bases rock ;)

EDIT: The flame/smoke work is damn good too.

16-07-2008, 11:14
Well, i knew the idea couldn't have been unique, but then again it is more unique than a ultramarines squad :)

Been planning on a similar project for a while, and similar only goes so far...

So expect a lot more twisted, mutated and drug usage from personal future project :p

Mr Kibbles
16-07-2008, 11:41
Is it just me or are all the pics all squished up and compact? they look really good, from what i can see of them.

16-07-2008, 15:32
look up Hortwerth on cmon.com you can see the full army and a number of other similar projects he's done.

now where's that picture of the Threadmancer...

16-07-2008, 17:41
Spectacularly well painted and converted

26-10-2009, 19:48

The bases, the smoke/fire art, the conversions, everything is damn excellent!!
