been seeing this alot in various places and have yet to figure out a reason for it, under the new ruleset its my understanding that ranks of 4 are no longer permissable and 2 ranks of 8 just seems ott. If anyone can shed some light on it, it would be much appreciated

1) One additional model to help soak up a fire to maintain ranks (3 ranks of 5 plus 1)

2) Hold over from last edition, when 4 to a rank worked. Just need to get more models.

3) Stubborn and refuse to give up the 4 to a rank rule...

4) Because they are Chaos!!! :p

If seen in battle reports or online resources, they might be showing old pics (4x4 units).
Otherwise...people just sticking to their old uses
Or maybe just still playing under 6 ed rules

get more attacks in combat?

they can't be bothered to buy two boxes/ mail order what they need.

Because of the same reason it's 16 Dwarfs or Mauraders in a box. GW changed the rules to get the side benefit of selling more miniatures as we all run out to buy more models to restore our 4 complete ranks.

Isn't Chaos worse off than that? I thought only 12 came in a box.

I use 16 slaanesh warriors because I put a level 4 mage on a steed of slaanesh which gives makes the unit take up 20 spaces in my movement tray.

Only 12 do come in a box. I have to admit it is somewhat irritating . . . but your guys are so many damn points anyway.

People are tactically bad... I have never seen the point of little units of Choas warriors even under 6th. But thats more because i think they are just greatly over priced, and dont like small infantry units I think combat troops should come in at 20 minimum but that could be just my style of play

I would think the main issue is conversion to new rules issues where people play with what they have rather then what is effective

Chaos Warriors only have a chance in a magic-heavy Slaanesh army where the enemy movement can be dictated...

12 in a box is just plain highway robbery. It just gives ammo to those who argue that GW is crooked.

16 warriors get free full command in archaons horde

everything is priced by the sprue. the sprue that was made only had four warriors on it. four times four gets you sixteen, unless you want to pay for an additional sprue of models (and when everyone says "yes we do want to pay for it," think about thet fact that it is better to keep all the prices of similar boxes the same.)

as to why they first cam with 16, maybe something about command sections and how those used to be bought seperately?

Chaos warriors can be used with the mark of tzeetch at 10 models to get the extra power dice. But, I can only really see them being used with khorne.

I think that bestigors are a better heavy infrantry than Chaos warriors, but even betsigors are outclassed by minotaurs.

In the previous edition, 16 Warriors was a nightmare unit - 4 ranks with the 4 wide unit was a very viable unit.

I think itīs because of habit of the old rules. Now a unit of 16 is senseless.

People don't want to make larger movement trays....laziness.

TO be pointwise anyway near fair that would make MANY goblins in a box! :p
