I was wondering if this sounds like a good army list (finished list couple of comments down)

sorcorer--120 pts
48 chaos warriors--768pts (4 units of 16)
15 screamers--495pts

Thanks for any comments:)

are you planning on using all 48 warriors in one unit?

Well the main problem of chaos warriors is how they get so much shot at, or how they can easily be flank-charge (because of a lack of unit numbers). So you could add a hero in there: put him in a corner and he should negate all enemy advantages just with his kills.

That'll be your main problem: low numbers.

Ypu should just try it out and if it does not work, use Trial and error and tweak your list. You can also proxy models so you do not buy models and have to buy new ones until you create a good list.

You will be massively out numbered (well atleast more then usual for a chaos army). so chuck in some marauders, not the strongest but cheap ( 5 points) and for 2 extra points you can equip them with flails which will make them strength 5!!!!
and some calvary will help

Why do you have a single unit of 15 screamers? It just seems wrong to be forking out nearly 500 points on a single unit.

Sorcerer 130 pts
level 2

16-warriors 286 pts
4 shields--9 two weapons--flute--banner--champion

16-warriors 284 pts
7 shield--7 two weapons--flute--banner--champion-great weapon

16-warriors 272pts
9 shields--3 two weapons--flute--banner--champion

Gaint 205pts

5-Marauder horsemen 87 pts
2 spears--5 shields--banner--flute--chieftain

8 screamers 231pts

total cost =1495pts

This isnt my ideal list but its all Ive got

Don't you have to keep the weapons the same for the whole unit, not split the weapons as you would like? I don't remember anywhere saying you could arm half your warriors with shields, half with additional hand weapons and the champion with a great weapon.

Id swap out the screamers for furies too considering you have no marked Tzeentch units but thats just me.

Irakaz is right its all or none when equiping. Unlike 40K where they are more variable.

ld is pretty low. Perhaps an exalted is needed instead of a sorceror. Use your sorceror as a support hero.

Ok slight problem forgot about that mark of tzeench thing , dont have any furies and nothing in the army book about them all having to have 2 hand weapons or all having shield.
and please read the bit at the bottom of the list.

Ok I've checked the rulebook still havent found anything on the full unit having to use shields ect.

From the new BRB page 54:

"It is usual for all the models in a unit to carry the same weapons. So, a unit will be a unit of Spearmen, a unit of Halbediers, a unit of Crossbowmen and so on. It is acceptable for a unit to include a minority of models that are differently armed for the sake of a varied and interesting appearance, but the whole unit still counts as being armed as the majority."

"All troops and characters are assumed to carry hand weapons, such as swords, axes, clubs, maces and comparable weaponry...At the start of the first round of combat, each such unit can choose which of their weapons to use (the entire unit must use the same weapon, but character can always choose seperately)."

You're welcome,

How effective is a big unit of screamers?

I've seen people use 3-5.. but 8???

I have 15 painted screamers - used for 40k
and Martyr thanks that saves me from having to buy another box to even things out.

drop one unit of warriors and replace with chosen knights

put a mark of tzeentch on a hero or lord rather than taking a sorcerer, then give it a mount and appropriate wargear (staff of change for lords, maybe a powerstone or spell familiar and enchanted shield for heroes)

drop the screamers down to smaller units (2 units of 4-5, one on each flank can be nasty)

Drop one unit of warriors and replace it with a chariot and maybe some maurauders.

With spare points, you could get a few horrors.

Just keep in mind, that chaos warrirors are the most uneffective and overpriced unit in the chaos army book

small problem with the screamers they are 0-1 lol
