Greetings,

This is the biggest project log that I have attempted in the history of the project log section, a bit overdramatic, yes, true, also yes. But over the next four months of my summer break I hope to finish one section of this log a month. The sections are as follows: Warmachine, Witch Hunter Empire, Sons of Guilliman Space Marines, D&D Characters.

I’ve been wanting to try painting with some colours that I haven’t used very much so some of the armies may be in non-traditional colours, for example, I want to have a yellow Khador army. I’ve also seen some interesting painting styles and hope to try my hand at them. This is as much a log for me to try different things as much as for me to complete all the stuff I need to paint.

The list of stuff I have to paint is massive, so please bear with me as I attempt to wade through this log. The list seemed smaller when I first started the list.

Good lord man! I am most excited to see Witch Hunters and the DnD chars, as i've always wanted to make my own little DnD fig. Good luck and get working!

W00T 100th post!

While there has been little update in what I have to paint, I hope to get some painting done either tonight or tomorrow. I got a couple P3 paints and I want to see how they are. I'll be painting a member of the Space Marine Command Squad as they are the only ones that I need white for, which is one of the 2 colours I bought.

Until tomorrow,

Looking forward to the progress. That's a big list, good luck getting through it all. :p
After seeing your previous marines, I'm looking forward to this.

I got some stuff done today, though there's only 1 pic. I finished the armour on my SoG Apothecary and started on the metals. I also painted Sorscha yellow with a green coat. Lastly, I made a base for one of the D&D characters.

Here it is:

A bit more of an update from me.

I worked on Sorscha's armour and the green on the coat as well as did a bit more on my Apothecary.

The pic of Sorscha may not be the best, but it'll have to do until I find a better place to take pictures. The Apothecary's white was done with P3 Morrow White and only took a couple (2) coats, I was impressed.

Small update. I got the final 3 knights I need to make a unit of 10 as well as Spasm Warrior 2 to make a Githzerai Monk and an Orc Barbarian. I also got No Quarter 11 that may give me some ideas on how to paint my Mercs when they arrive.

I'll have pics up tomorrow or so.

The pictures so far are looking very cool, i saw some of your sons of gulliman on B&C, they are very good.

Looking forward to more pics

Yellow Sorscha was done because I didn't want to paint them red and because I've never painted a yellow army before so I thought it would be interesting. I did some work on the Dwarf Rogue, changed his sword for an axe and whatnot.

I'll have some pics of what I'm working on some time this week.

I'll get more Khador up when I get more stuff. It's coming in the mail in addition to some Mercs, so I'll have a fair bit of Warmachine stuff to paint over the summer.

I just got this in the mail:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Project%20Log%20Pics/khador.jpg

I plan to strip the Juggernaut and Berserker and get some primer, hopefully on the weekend. I plan to strip the Berserker because it will remove the GS and hopefully the glue so I can put it together fresh. As for the winterguard, I'll do a test model, probably tonight or tomorrow and see how I like it. Any suggestions before I start?

I don't start work today until 1:30 (It's 11:30 now) so I thought I would work a bit more on all the stuff I have to finish. I assembled the 3 knights that I needed to round out my unit of Knights.

The pics aren't the best and the conversion work is minimal, but here are some pics:

Today didn't go so well, but it wasn't a total loss. I wanted to go to the Sentry Box, a hobby store, but the bus didn't come when it was scheduled and I got tired of waiting so I came hope, a bit diappointed. I did end up cleaning the 'jacks that had been sitting in Orange Clean for the past four or five days, so they're ready to paint when I get primer and green stuff, other items I was going to get today in addition to finishing off my Witch Hunters save the bitz order.

Sorry, no pics today.

Not much of an update since the last time but I did manage to get some more stuff to just about finish off my Witch Hunters. I got a box of Pistoliers, some Men at Arms, somg green stuff, some black primer and Iyanden Darksun foundation paint to use on my Khador stuff.

That is all for now,

Bretonnia and Khador - those are a couple of fine armies :)

Khrangar
07-06-2007, 00:44
It'll actually be Empire and Khador but the Empire army is using mostly Bretonnian models. Speaking of Khador, I have a small upate of sorts. I redid the plates on the model using the Foundation yellow, which looks like mustard, and came up with this as a basic scheme.
Test 1

07-06-2007, 10:16
You didn't have enough on your list already so you thoght you would add some random bretonnians. :D

Can you post a pic' of the unit they are joining along with them some time.

Good luck with the experimenting.

Khrangar

Actually the men at arms are for my Empire army. They will make another unit of crossbowmen and the torsos/heads for my pistoliers.

Khrangar

They will have twin tailed comet shields and be painted like the rest of my unit of knights. They are a Sigmar Cult, and are part of my Empire army as well.

Small update. I went to the hobby store today and came back with some goodies. I bought a blister of Space Marine Veterans, a Sister of Sigmar Champion, and 5 Plague Monks.

I am using the legs of one of the vets for my Comanpy Champion who I have begun to assemble. I need to gs him before I can continue with the modelling. The Sister of Sigmar will be used as a unit priest for something. Either that or I'll cut off the arm that is holding the hammer talisman and use it for another unit priest for the crossbowmen. The priests don't count as anything but I figured it'd be good for morale in the units. The plague monks will be used as crew for my 2 cannons once I've converted them and made them more human looking.

I hope to have pics shortly.

Your converting space looks awesome, but your paint space is stupid clean. More mess man, more!

To jump back a bit, the yellow looks heaps better, though I can't help but wonder if a slightly darker tone on the under plates on the shoulders would help with the texture of the armour a little.

Khrangar
13-06-2007, 17:02
I plan to add some Bestial Brown into the recesses of the armour to give it more depth so it won't just be straight yellow. That'll be done once I start another Winterguard. Right now I've started painted one of the 'jacks. I had hoped to have pics up last night, but my camera ran out of batteries, stupid thing. Other than that there's not much to report other than that I primed the 3 knights and 2 jacks and some other stuff.

I got some useful bitz in the mail today thanks to cookiescrumble so I began converting the arms for the rest of the command squad. The Sergeant will have a bionic arm from the commander sprue with a pistol instead of a chainsword, the apothecary will have a pistol and the standard bearer will have a chainsword.

Other than that, I converted a unit priest for the crossbowmen, but since the crossbows themselves haven't arrived yet, I can't do anything to the unit except to glue their heads on, which I haven't done yet. I want to get some of the new Flagellants when they come out so I'll be selling/trading the ones I have now that consist of Mordheim, 5th and 6th Ed Flagellants so if anyone is interested, please let me know. I have about 30 or so in total, but that's a bit off topic.

I have thought of converting the weapon Kyrus the Somber has to something that looks more like a spiked chain for my D&D character, but the more I look at it, the more I think it'll be too hard and that the weapon he has now doesn't look too bad.

On the Warmachine front, my books haven't shipped from amazon.ca yet so I don't have them :(. Also, I need a mortar team to complete the army, which I can't seem to find at the hobby store, also :(.

That's all for now,

While it's not much, what I have completed today is something.

I hate how much I’ve cut this list back but I’ve lost interest in some of the projects and sold them (Khador specifically) and have been too tired due to work to really put the effort into painting as much as I’d hoped I would. I figure if I can get this much done, I’ll be ok.

Finally an update!

I started painting my Company Champion of the Sons of Guilliman and I think he's coming along nicely. His helmet is red for now but I was thinking of adding some gold to around the eyes and whatnot to differentiate him from the rest of the squad.

What do you think?

It's late here in England, (well early really...) so forgive me if you've said something about this already, but I think you should paint something on those red helmets to make them stand out more. Painting the lenses, and painting the gold as you mentioned previously should make the helmets seem a little less plain, and a lot more attractive. They just seem a little empty at the moment. Otherwise, everything is looking good. The first thing I alwas notice about your marines is the blue, it's really well done, and it's one of the things that draws me to your marines every time I see picutres of them. Your GS skills are improving, and I love some of the figures in the log, such as the human D&D character and the Witch Hunter. I'm looking forward to those scouts. :)

Keep it up! ;)

Khrangar
19-08-2007, 05:46
The painting of gold on the helmets was more a question regarding the Company Champion and not the rest of the unit. He does have gold as I found it to look a bit better than just the plain red. The rest of the unit will only have the red helmet, unless I decide to paint white laurels or something on them at a later date, but for now they'll stay as they are. As for the lenses, they are actually painted, it's just the picture that dulls them and makes them less noticable.

I hope to have the scouts done tomorrow so that I can start work on my Witch Hunters once again and hopefully finish them before Friday. That, combined with having to get ready to go home and pack for said trip will make my week a bit hectic, but hopefully I'll have time for some more painting after this weekend.

Thank you BarbedHawk for the kind words and hopefully none will be disappointed by my scouts.

Thanks guys.

I made one of these guys a long while back (the one that's not in full robes) and thought it would be a different approach to a cannon crew. Not wanting a traditional crew, as it were, I thought these hunchbacked-halfing type people would be good.

Looking back on it, I probably could have converted the new flagellants into crewmen, but these guys are done, and nobody bothers to look at them so long as the cannons fire :P.

Khrangar
20-10-2007, 14:39
@DarkSoldier: That is indeed true, but I don't want to change it now. Also, it's GW's fault, I was copying how they did the flames on the Balrog.

@LoNC: I paint the white as follows: Codex Grey, Astronomicon Grey (used to be Fortress Grey then Space Wolves Grey, but AG works so much better than the two) then for white I do two or three thin layers of Morrow White from the P3 range of paints. That white is way better than Skull White.

Will he be charging windmills? :D

@Krall: Only if Giants are disguised as windmills.

Small update: I modified the hat and I think it looks better. I didn't do this when I originally converted the model because I wasn't sure how to do it, but now it's done.

Yep, that's exactly the right height.

Any luck on the buckle-front? Otherwise it's not a big issue.

Great! Nothing else to say :D He looks like a proper loony now!
And hurray for plastic flaggelants, and I agree with Unwanted that he doesn't have to have a buckle on his hat. It looks great already!

Now can we get a unit shot of the witch hunter in his knight unit?
That would be great! Thanks!

I don't think I'll add a buckle to the hat, it looks fine as it is and might detract because of the silver in it being shiny and people's eyes being attracted to shiny things. Mine is anyway :P.

Anyway, as per Zodiac's request, I have some shots of the unit, with and without the General leading it.

If the wind dies down and rain doesn't start within the next half hour or so I'll go and prime the flagellants. If it does start to rain, I may have to start converting the pistoliers.

Here's the first in a hopefully long line of Mk6 Marines to come out of this plog.

He's held together with sticky tac right now but once I find army for him, he'll be glued.

I need a model to represent a Battle Standard Bearer for the Witch Hunters army. I have drawn a blank as to a suitable model and would like people's suggestions on the subject.

Thanks,

Old Necromunda Redemtionist Zealot with big axe. Cut off axe-head, extend with bitz from Empire General/BSB-box and away you go?

If you want him mounted however, I can't really think of anything that pops atm...

Thank you for the photo Khrangar, it's a unit to be proud of :)

Great painting! Give us some more!

Sorry the description wasn't exactly clear. He'll be on foot and I have a banner in mind for him that I already have and will post pics of once it's done.

Almost a month later I return with an update, albeit a small one.

To show everyone what I've been doing:

This: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Mk6%20Army/im1.jpg becomes This: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Mk6%20Army/im2.jpg

This too way too long :P but it means a part of the army can begin the Green Stuff phase.

I haven't really been painting the last month as I've had too much school work to do and felt kinda burnt out, but I've been modelling sort of, as seen above, and have enough bitz now to make roughly half the army.

Harsh job there...

School's eating my time as well...

Greenstuffing has been done.

Here are the results. I need to wait for it to dry before I glue the fronts to the backs and fill any gaps that I find. Some of the torsos don't have the back pointy pieces that insert in the holes in the back pieces, so I'll have to estimate where to glue them together.

Here's the pic:

I started painting the flagellants that I assembled 2 months ago and then lost the urge to paint, but I think it's back, for now.

Here they are in their WIP glory:

Now I'm not Khrangar, but it looks like plastic marauders and the bald head from the men-at-arms...

Now, I am Khrangar, and the cannon crew have heads from the 5th edition Chaos Warriors. Bodies are Plague Monks, cannon stuff is from the Empire cannon, and the strong arms are marauder arms with zombie hands.

Hopefully I'll get some more work on the army in the next little while.

They won't actually be getting finished as I've traded them away for mk5 stuff.

This log is basically for my Empire army now, which I hope to have updates for soonish.
