Fueled by strange mushrooms, the desire to jump, howl, paint squigs and wake up as many dwarves as possible I have decided to start a Night Goblin army!

I have been playing Games Workshop games for nearly 13 years now but I have NEVER played Warhammer fantasy. I picked up a box set in 5th edition and bought some high elves but shortly thereafter 6th came out and completely broke my desire to play.

My desire is to make the daunting task of painting a few hundred goblins more palettable, to learn from you and share learning in kind. A Night Goblin army is very fitting for me; the humor and general randomness of the army makes me laugh and will be a blast to play.

So without further ado, some finished units (appologies in advance, the macro on my geriatric camera is not terribly great):

a closer view of the squig I fondly call "the fawn"

In an unlikely event, my dullcoate turned out semi-glossy. Woe! I've never had a problem with it, but there's a first time for everything:

I plan to interject further humor in this army by adding my own touches, like painting one of my squigs like bambi.

More works to come, Cheers!

Hey, things are looking grand so far, nicely done! I love the squigs, very nice orangey colour going on there, very nice...and for some reason, the turqouise coloured one doesn't seem out of place. Go figure:)

Seriously, looking great, let's see some more. Back to work with you...

Thanks Caligula.

Does anyone have any suggestions for some matte spray that isn't dulcote? Dulcote is comming out woefully shiny in comparison to my old cans lately. Extremely frustrating.

Heres some more WIP:

Shaman:

Dulcoating on hold until i can get them to look... dull...

Cheers

That is some very nice minis you have there.

The shaman is particularly well done, but if you don't mind me saying so I find the blade a bit dull. I would probably paint it up to a lighter/more vibrant colour as Night Goblins are very dark, and thus any chance to sprinkle some colour around should be embraced (in my opinion that is).

Keep painting and best of luck.

Shaman is still a WIP, I plan to make the blade bluish silver, like the moon. He's also getting a gold tooth. Currently I'm testing krylon matte finish in lieu of dullcoate, we'll see how it goes.

The fanatics and the shaman should be complete tonight, as well as some test skin tones. I don't want them to all be the same color so I'm going to make some more cammo, some light green, some very dark, some bluish.

More CC welcome!

Turns out two cans of my dull cote are bunk. I finally singled out a can from a different batch and it works like a charm. Unfortunately theres nothing that can be done about my miniatures that are already coated with the bad stuff. On the bright side, only a few miniatures are finished and the squigs look good all slimy-like. It'll look fine when there are 300 miniatures on the board and they all blend in!

Batch GZ14 is evil. Krylon Matte finish works fairly well, although its partially satin.

Ok enough talking to myself, painting time!
