I read that there is a clarification on if Empire is allowed to take dogs of war out there so my question is basically where I can read it.

Dogs of War section on the GW site - check the first 2 .pdfs - they should have the chart of who can take which Dogs of War

The PDF files are not new/updated (that I noticed)........BUT the fact that GW is keeping them available for now.....DOES, in my book, confirm that DoW and or RoR are "allowed" in 7th Edition.;)

Problem is that pdf is for the 6th ed empire book and is so not a clarification.

The clarification is on the first page of the dogs of war section in the UK online shop.

The "clarification" you are talking about is the (irrelevant) fact that the Rare unit entry for Dogs of War has been removed from the Empire List(and the O&G List). The reason this is irrelevant is quite simply because the Unit Entry of the Dogs of War choices tell you exactly which other Armies can used them and what slots the fill.

Have fun

Thatīs what Auzu asked for, isnīt it?

Of course the DoW armylist tells you which slots they use up in which army, but a lot of people donīt seem to understand this and argue that armies without the DoW rare entry cannot take DoW for whatever reason.

By RAW Empire and Orcs cannot take OK Ogres, because the OK book specifies that they can used in armies which have the rare DoW slot (for whatever reason. Possibly an oversight), but the DoW armylist does not mention that slot.

Well, you can say the PDF files are old, but saying you can't use the 6th Edition stuff could also invalidate some armies that haven't gotten a new book *sigh*

The PDF's don't say "WA: The Empire (6th Ed.)" they say "WA: The Empire"

I'd say until they update it, you can still use it.

As also mentioned, the notes in the online store (of all places!) helps decide who can use what.

Just b/c it's old, doesn't mean it's invalidated. It's the most-current ruleset for Dogs of War, and, as such, are the rules which should be consulted for all Dogs of War-related issues.

Yep. If you couldnīt use publications (army books and lists) from 6th edition you could not play Dwarfs, Wood Elves, High Elves, Tomb Kings etc...

*jabs hand up into the air*
A thought occurs!

Now, why would my good friend Maximilian grant that ability if the Empire COULDN'T take Dogs of War?
