View Full Version : wikear's ORK army log

31-05-2007, 03:50
I didn't find many ork armies around here, if any. So I thought that I will show what I have done so far, and what I intend to do.

Please be honest with your opinions, but not too harsh

OK, here we go:

Here is the first mob... (slugga boyz)

http://img178.imagevenue.com/loc449/th_82852_mob_122_449lo.jpg (http://img178.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=82852_mob_122_449lo.jpg)

It's finished, but there are few things that could be done with them, but I leave them for when I have more time. I want to get my army ready to fight in the shortest time.

Here is the nob of the first mob up close

http://img7.imagevenue.com/loc856/th_82853_mob-nob_122_856lo.jpg (http://img7.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=82853_mob-nob_122_856lo.jpg)

Here is the second mob... (shoota boyz)

http://img172.imagevenue.com/loc503/th_82858_mob2-banner_122_503lo.jpg (http://img172.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=82858_mob2-banner_122_503lo.jpg)

Of course they are missing few fellows, but I will be adding them later on.

http://img106.imagevenue.com/loc1022/th_82859_mob2-banner2_122_1022lo.jpg (http://img106.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=82859_mob2-banner2_122_1022lo.jpg)

The standard bearer is an converted ork boy with a banner from Warhammer Fantasy.

31-05-2007, 03:53
Those two miniatures have been painted years ago.

Here is the nob for one of the mobs:

http://img131.imagevenue.com/loc536/th_83035_nob_122_536lo.jpg (http://img131.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=83035_nob_122_536lo.jpg)

http://img129.imagevenue.com/loc483/th_83036_nob2_122_483lo.jpg (http://img129.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=83036_nob2_122_483lo.jpg)

Here is the warboss:

http://img22.imagevenue.com/loc860/th_83037_warboss_122_860lo.jpg (http://img22.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=83037_warboss_122_860lo.jpg)

He needs new facelift, I think I will be painting from scratch. Any ideas for removing the paint?

Sorry for double posting, but it's because those image limitations ;-)

31-05-2007, 06:37
They're looking pretty good. I know what you mean by painting your army to table top standard especially when it involves an army as numerous as Orks (my own force has 94 models in it, of which I've painted 93!).

What else are you planning for this force?

31-05-2007, 07:45
Well... for now I want to add some Kommando and Storm Boyz. Kommando for fun, Storm Boyz for rushing the enemy.
Also some bikes... maybe 5-10. Buy some toys and convert them... And of course paint them red! Couse we know why ;-)
Aaaand some ordnance fire units... don't know yet.

31-05-2007, 09:49
They look pretty good, nice to see some more orks around. I actually really like the warboss model. I like how you did the metal bits on his gear and weapons, kinda has a blue-ish tint to them...or is that just cuz of the camera? He looks real good to me, but if you wanna strip the paint off i'm certain there's a topic on it in the modeling and painting forum somewhere...its a sticky one I'm pretty sure. Me, I dunk stuff in clorox for about a week and then take a toothbrush to em. Not the best way probably but it does get everything off.

31-05-2007, 09:53
well... sorry to dissapoint, but its the camera, hehe

I already applied black primer to it, with no paint strip... I'll see how it looks then.

http://img104.imagevenue.com/loc1040/th_98258_boss_122_1040lo.jpg (http://img104.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=98258_boss_122_1040lo.jpg)
http://img139.imagevenue.com/loc385/th_98259_boss2_122_385lo.jpg (http://img139.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=98259_boss2_122_385lo.jpg)

You can see the paint layer is thick, but I'll try to cover it up with good painting so you will be distracted ;-)

31-05-2007, 13:45
OK, I just bought box of eight stormboyz... will be doing them tonight after I finish warboss (hopefully, heh)

any ideas as how to paint stormboyz to stand out a little bit? any weird ideas most welcome :D

Bjorn Stormwolf
31-05-2007, 15:20
Nice orks...... i'm painting like a maniac to add to my Eldar and SW armies as when (if?) the new ork codex comes out i just know i'm gonna be lost in the Waaaaaggh.

Great painting, especially of the skin, maybe dull down the metal with another wash of Chaos Black? I like weapons that look a bit dirty and used...

Good stuff!

01-06-2007, 23:37
OK, while repainting my WarBoss I GS'ed a face guard of some sort :D

It's my face GS work, hence the quality, but I still like, hehe
http://img141.imagevenue.com/loc477/th_40315_morda_122_477lo.jpg (http://img141.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=40315_morda_122_477lo.jpg)

I'll be posting pics of the whole WarBoss when he's ready, ok?

C&C please...

02-06-2007, 00:18
OK, so here it is how he looks now, finished... maybe few highlights here and there and then some matt varnish on top to finish him all up:

http://img164.imagevenue.com/loc419/th_42712_01_122_419lo.jpg (http://img164.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=42712_01_122_419lo.jpg)
http://img177.imagevenue.com/loc563/th_42716_02_122_563lo.jpg (http://img177.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=42716_02_122_563lo.jpg)

Please, C&C more than welcome...

Cool more Orks.
I like the warboss a lot, would you mind telling me how you did the green for the skin? The "Face Guard" also looks good. It looks like the things that scout models have.

Good job so far!

This looks like a great start to an Ork waaagh. I cant wait to see more pics.

02-06-2007, 09:20
@Laughing God:

The skin is done with Dark Angels Green over Chaos Black primer, then dry brush it with a mixture of DA Green and Snot Green, and then dry brush of pure Snot Green.

Thanks for your comments...

I'll be doing some more boyz today, hopefully I will finish the second mob by the evening.

The Laughing God
02-06-2007, 12:34
Cool, looking forward to seeing the other boyz. I also really want to see how the bikez are going to turn out.

Keep up the good work:)

-The Laughing God-

02-06-2007, 12:42
Well... TBH... I just couldn't resist myself and bought 3 bikes ;) and aftere my four days of work (commencing Sunday) I will be painting them all three at once...

so... keep in touch :-)

aaaaaand I found my scratch built Killer Kan :D I'm still missing a Big Shoota or Skorcha

The Laughing God
02-06-2007, 12:51
Could you get a pic up of the killa-kan? There are some cool poses that bikes can do, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. It would be funny to see a guardsmen strapped to the front of the bike.:D

-The Laughing God-

02-06-2007, 12:59
actually I have few SM and CSM models I might use them... that's a good idea

here are the pics... freshly undercoated:

http://img121.imagevenue.com/loc883/th_88618_01_122_883lo.jpg (http://img121.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=88618_01_122_883lo.jpg)

The Laughing God
02-06-2007, 13:03
The Killa-Kan looks cool, I haven't seen anyone do that before. I really like the grabbing claw on it.

Remember to post pics of the bikez with the umies strapped on em.:D

07-06-2007, 15:47
OK... so I have spent some time on my ork dread / killa kan.

I wrote dread / killa kan, cause I'm thinking of putting another melee weapon so I can use both sponsons / pylons above the wheels to put weapons... well I still have loads of time.

So here are the pics:
http://img160.imagevenue.com/loc444/th_30544_00001_122_444lo.jpg (http://img160.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=30544_00001_122_444lo.jpg)

What do you think? Any suggestions?

08-06-2007, 09:03
An hour later... he has a base :D

WTH, no comments?

08-06-2007, 09:14
I love it! Can't help thinking the wheels need some bulking out in the hub. If they looked like truck wheels that would be great. Or something.

Very Orky though, almost 2nd ed in spirit

08-06-2007, 11:39
about the wheels: you mean the inside? Yeah, I thought about it, but don't ahve any ideas, so just left them like that for further... you know... development :D

14-06-2007, 21:20
I know it's not my orkz, but here is the model I'm painting for my friend.

It's early WIP, but tell what do you think so far, and please give any suggestions regarding the reamaining bits to be painted... ta!

http://img155.imagevenue.com/loc856/th_55986_DSC00561_122_856lo.jpg (http://img155.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=55986_DSC00561_122_856lo.jpg)http://img21.imagevenue.com/loc803/th_55991_DSC00562_122_803lo.jpg (http://img21.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=55991_DSC00562_122_803lo.jpg)http://img148.imagevenue.com/loc968/th_55996_DSC00563_122_968lo.jpg (http://img148.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=55996_DSC00563_122_968lo.jpg)

14-06-2007, 21:31
That blue is really bright! its cool with the white :)

Love your Orks, I can't wait till the new codex is released :P (I will go back to Orks then)

21-06-2007, 09:45
I have been doing some painting on my last two nightshifts, and here are the models:

21-06-2007, 09:46
And here are some pics of both mobs:

Please comments on them... what do you think about the flamer boy? ;-)

Bjorn Stormwolf
21-06-2007, 13:53
Starting to look like a green horde now.... marvellous. Any tips on painting the skin?

EDIT: Aaaaahhhh found it now.... whoopsy.

21-06-2007, 15:14
The skin on flamer boy was done with foundation paints. I used the green and then highlighted it as normal DA Green / Snot Green (50-50) and then highlight with Snot Green.

22-06-2007, 09:46
I have been working on the second flamer boy:

Please C&C, ta!

22-06-2007, 10:21
Hmm, I would keep the headplate in a metallic colour, more menacing that way. The eyes are very nice, and the hot tip of the flamer looks very cool too.

22-06-2007, 17:34
Well, the pic doesn't do justice. It is mettalic, but washed with with red.

23-06-2007, 06:47
I had a 'busy' night at work... done my second Nob and the Apothecary for my friend:

23-06-2007, 06:48
and the Apothecary:

Please C&C...

23-06-2007, 06:51
Wikear. I know people are probably bored to tears by my constant harking on...but....You should think about thinning your paints down a little and using a wet palette. Your style is very neat so combining that with a greater depth of color (layers) should produce marvelous results.

23-06-2007, 07:00
Yeah I know
I have problems with thining the paints, heh, too lazy

What do u mean by 'wet palette'? I'm using an old CD to mix my paints on and to water them down. Is that what u mean?

23-06-2007, 07:13
oh no my boy....a wet palette is something you need to build. A cheap way is as follows.
1xtupperware container
fold up a thick wodge of kitchen roll and line the bottom of the container.
Then run it under the tap so all of the kitchen roll becomes wet and sodden..drain of the excess water.
Then take some baking paper/grease proof paper....you know the kind of partchment stuff that you line cake tins with?
Place this over the wet kitchen roll..make sure the whole thing is covered as you dont want the paper to dry up underneath.
The grease proof paper will then be your palette. The paint will not dry becuase of the combination of the paper and the liquid. This means two wonderful things.
1.If you mix a colour you can keep it for 3-4 days maening consistency throughout your models.
2. You can blend FAR easier meaning that it is difficult to see the transitions betewwn highlight layers.
Im at work so I cant post a pic..Ill do it later.

23-06-2007, 07:21
*******' sweat mate... post some pics later... ta!

23-06-2007, 07:22
No problem. Im from brighton by the way. Do you know my friend Adam in brighton GW?

23-06-2007, 07:27
Adam... don't know them by names... I talk with the short-blond-headed-guy-who's-name-slipped-my-mind-after-12hrs-shift, hehe
James I reckon... but not too sure.

23-06-2007, 07:31
oh..Jim. well give Adam and Jim my regards from Japan when you see them.

23-06-2007, 07:37
I will...

back to the topic :D

Please C&C on my minis please... I really need some feedback.

hint: praise me praise me :D

23-06-2007, 07:42
Well like i said. Neat paint jobs, clean lines which is the first step that many miss. What you need is thinner paints and a greater depth of shading. Also Im not a big fan of metallics...yours are well done, especially the red bits..can feel the heat! however you should still be shading and highlighting the metallics too.

23-06-2007, 08:33
and the Apothecary:

Please C&C...

these look nice, very clean and a great job on the skin too.

23-06-2007, 15:23
thanks :D I'm really happy with the eye I've done here.

23-06-2007, 21:33
For anyone interested in the 'wet palette'

25-06-2007, 13:35
Wow! triple posting hehe

Well, I just order some sprues in my local GW shop so my ork dreadnaught shall be acquire two wheels, the big ones.

That's more or less how it will look like...

what do u think?

and also, moreover, however :D I order one scorcha and one big shoota, and I hope I didn't forget to order one Dreadnought arm (the one that is more extended)... so it will look like proper dread... Waaaagh!!

25-06-2007, 14:34
Thats a cool take on the Kan! and you found your own wet pallette...sorry for my slowness.

25-06-2007, 15:21
tbh I think I found it in one of your posts :D

26-06-2007, 11:07
OK... I bought this off ebay:

Any ideas how to use it in a smart or an unconventional way?

I thought about making objectives from the crates, put the tank traps on some bases to form 'walls' and leaving barrels as they are for now, until I manage to do some buildings...

And this I got yesterday of my local GW shop:

Another pack of nice models to paint :D yey!

Any ideas or tips how to paint camo simply and effectively?

bobert the great clen one
26-06-2007, 11:12
nice apothercary mate , how to on the white please :D

26-06-2007, 11:12
I'v got those kommandoes too somewhere cleaned and ready to get painted.. but I don't dare to screw up models that nice :D Good luck on them!

26-06-2007, 11:20
@ bobert the great clen one:

The 'white' is Space Wolves Grey watered down, and then highlighted with watered down with Skull White.

@ Edzard

Don't worry, I found out, that even if you can't paint well if u do it neatly (I mean nice lines, no shading, blending, highlighting) it looks good too. Sometimes an idea of how to paint them covers up the technical flaws.

26-06-2007, 12:18
little some some for you guys :D some porn :D

26-06-2007, 15:40
OK... the ork dread just got his new pimped out wheels :D they need to be painted of course, but that maybe later today:

What do you think? Please C&C

26-06-2007, 20:09
I'm working on a conversion for Little Games Day the will be held at my local shop on 7th of July.

Tell me what do you think... how could I make it more dynamic?

Issue 1:
I really want this ork to either throw the marine behind him or hold him up high. How should I position his arms for best result?

Issue 2:
I have no spare SM arms so what could I do to justify the lack of them on the model?

I thought of painting arm sockets red and making some limb leftovers from GS and maybe make some GSed limbs on the ground, but I'm not too sure if I can make it, heh...

Please C&C...

26-06-2007, 21:42
Maybe only make him hold the leg of the marine? The whole marine looks a little bit too heavy to just 'swing' over your head. (even if you are an ork)

26-06-2007, 21:56
hmmm... good idea... could make the rest of the marine under his right foot and straighten the left one... hum?

27-06-2007, 06:24
I had a busy night last night. I had some progress on my two additional Kommando I'm preparing for the squad (don't want to have two identical in it), some progress on a Lobba and finally some success with the converted ork for the mini GD in the local store.

Let's start:

I decided to leave the idea of holding the whole SM in a hand and left his foot in it. The rest of the SM will be under the ork, he will be sitting on him:

And the rest of his parts:

I also intend to put a sign somewhere, but not sure in what form. Banner? Flag? Or just sign the base with:

We luv umieez!

Orkz likes SPAM

Sth like it. I want it to be funny in some way.

Ok, here are the two additional Kommando I was working on. Nothing fancy, just two standard boyz pimped out:

Tell me what u think?

I also think of buying a heavy weapon for Kommando unit, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

t.b.c. in next post

27-06-2007, 06:31
I was also working on a Lobba. And still not too sure on the configuration of the parts I have got:

or this

I like the first idea more... looks more like a real gun, hehe.

Please C&C on the two posts above... thanks!

27-06-2007, 07:37
These new pictures are awesome, they really show off how much better your work really is especially the new orks you've got painted up. The converstions look great, you almost make me wanna start an ork army! :cries:

27-06-2007, 09:03
2nd lobba version looks better then the first. The converted komandos look a little like normal boys.. maybe try and give them gasmasks or those things cowboys wear in front of their mouths!

The little diorama looks cool, with the marine leg (the one still attached) up it looks like he is still struggling :D Be sure to make the chainchoppa very bloodied!

30-06-2007, 15:04
OK... I need an advice.

I want to make a mob of 16 'Ard Boyz... but there are no models for them, am I right? So... I was thinking of beefing up normal boyz by putting some armour on them and using SM shoulder pads as trophies. I would also paint them in different colours.

What do you think?

Rogue Trader
30-06-2007, 15:12
great conversions, i prefer the second pic with the lobba idea :D

I love the skin tone on your orks.

You could get a box of new fantasy black orcs, they look pretty tough with the armour they are wearing ;)
Ofcourse, every Ork player and his hamster is doing this..

30-06-2007, 18:52
That's a good hint Edzard... thanks. I thought about them but somehow... forgot! hehe

But anyways! I just won some orky stuff amazingly cheap. yey!!

for 13.01 pounds :D it's worth 36.00 pounds. yey!! yey!!

gota loads of painting ahead :D and maybe a konvershun :)

01-07-2007, 22:25
I had some work done tonight.

First, someone suggested to do a gas mask on one of my boys that I want to use in a Kommando squad. Although I think he looks like a hamster... lol:

And the other one with flamer boy head:

I also gap filled the weapons for my dreadnought and prepared a flame in the flamer:

And last but not the least my dread with two weapon 'sponsons' or whatever you call them:

Please give me some constructive criticism... thank you.

Rikka Rakka
02-07-2007, 02:29
Thats a really interesting take on the kan, nice job.

03-07-2007, 22:01
OK... dread is red... I mean ready hehe

Here are ze pikcherz:

C&C welcome!

03-07-2007, 23:57
wikear that flame on the blowtorch is a really lovely touch!

04-07-2007, 00:04
I had a picture of a blow torch flame from google images and tried to immitate it, but with poor results. BUT! still I tried :D

Rogue Trader
04-07-2007, 00:11
great stuff i love th dread, the gas mask idea is cool although its missing a respirator piece which would finish it off, looks more like a cow head to me than a hamster.......look out everyone wikear's orks have BSE!!!!!! :D :D

04-07-2007, 00:16
Well done, nice to see a 40k Ork being built with some imagination too. Again nicely done.

05-07-2007, 20:18
Loads of painting ahead of me:

plus the original GW dreadnaught...

sigh... *walks off to wash his hands and get back to work*

05-07-2007, 20:50
Loving what you're doing here...

The skin tone is nice, and the Kan looks cool... how long dod it take you to do the checkerboard work, and where are the wheels from?

05-07-2007, 20:58
hmmm checkerboard... it took me, I think, 2 minutes...

to get the transparency to water and on the dread, hehe, then drybrushed some black so it's not 'too neat'

wheels are from poundsaver shop, some truck for a quid, hehe good place to look for stuff

I found that in some LEGO shops u can get a cup full of bricks for 6 or 9 quid. I wanted to load it with wheels, but they only had medium ones without the insides.

So I bought this for 2,5 quid on sale ;-)

I will use the wheels and the base to do something smart. I was thinking of buying some more bricks to glue them together, cover with GS and plasticard later on... LEGO was always a well of ideas for me, even DUPLO.

05-07-2007, 21:05

That's the scale of the vehicle.

08-07-2007, 19:36
First warbuggy is done:

I'm gonna paint the other one similarly, but with other details in red... or something. I like them black wiht red bits...

What do you think? Please C&C

08-07-2007, 22:42
Buggy looks supergood :) Maybe you should paint the hubcaps, the wheels are a little off being 100% black.

Well, its a very good looking Waaaagh!

@ Edzard:

Good idea, thanks. I will paint chequerboard on the mud guards. And maybe some glyphs all around. But only when I finish the other one and the wartrukk.

And here is some work done on the dreadnought:

09-07-2007, 11:31
Nice drybrushing there, really coming on well.

09-07-2007, 11:31
The dread is looking nice and spangly mate! good job.
I think you should put more highlights on the blue pants/trousers of the buggy crew. wouldnt want anyone saying they were "colorized" lol...sorry..
oh, I joined the Brighton Warlords club. They meet at the King and Queen in Brighton(pub) are you a member?

09-07-2007, 11:34
A Wargaming Club in a Pub, I've got you figured out already Cal!

09-07-2007, 11:37
No I'm not... give me a link, mate.

Highlights? Colorized? Damn you :D !!

09-07-2007, 11:39
@Jase...yes *rubs hands together* so I can tell my wife Im going out to play games with plastic soldiers and forget to mention the BEER!!! mwahahaha.
@Wikear, hang on, link cominghttp://z15.invisionfree.com/Brighton_Warlords/index.php?
thats their board.

09-07-2007, 16:43
so what, Cal? See you there when you come to England?

beer, dice, mini, beer, dice, mini combination? :D

09-07-2007, 21:10
As it was suggested (Edzard) the wheels got some weathering, and the whole buggy too:

I also managed to do the chequer boards on the mud guards:

C&C welcome...

09-07-2007, 21:58
Nice checkerboarding (if thats a word...)

Maybe overdone a little on the weathering...just a thought

09-07-2007, 22:24
heh, I was thinking of giving it a layer of black wash, but now you mention it...

13-07-2007, 20:19
Coming along nicely Wikear, but don't forget to drill out the barrels on those buggies ;)

26-07-2007, 19:03
OK peeps... some work will have to be done soon, as I just order (asked to be put aside) two boxes of normal boys and one box WHFB black orks.

First box is for another mob I want to have or beefing up two others to get mobs of 22+ boys each, the other is for heavies for those three mobs and lootaz. Black orks will be skarboyz, obviously :D

So... loads of painting (speed painting) ahead of me!

26-07-2007, 19:32
Yay update! Looking forward to seeing your work again :)

31-07-2007, 20:57
I bought those boxes of orks, and this is what I managed to do on my last shift (day, mind you - not much time ;-)

My new heavies!

31-07-2007, 21:37
My new 'Ard Boyz!

Could you guys tell me what else should I do to make them more WH40k?

Pleas C&C

01-08-2007, 07:48
Think they are there!

The buggies are wicked, but the mould lines really stand out on their crews, I'd revisit them when you've got time.

01-08-2007, 09:35
i like your Black Orc ard boys

I would probaly try adding some wires and other bionic bits to them, to make them look more techi

i always found soulder wire to be useful in making cables/ wire

Rabid Bunny 666
01-08-2007, 09:49
Perhaps a few Bionic eyes on the helmets to make them look a bit more 40k, apart from that, these are pretty sweet.

03-08-2007, 22:39
One of the BRAND NEW HEAVIES :D hehe

Please C&C

07-08-2007, 07:52
Phew... had some work done during my 'busy' nightshift hehe

Here are the results...

07-08-2007, 07:53

Sorry for the quality of the pics. Will post better ones when I get the minis from work.

Please C&C

07-08-2007, 16:33
nice stuff, i love orks.

i love the blorc models too, but they just don't look right with just guns slapped on them, they still look to fantasy-ish. check out the-waaagh. there are some great blorc conversions on there, but you may need to dig them up.

07-08-2007, 17:06
yeah probably... I know they dont look too 40kish but I need to save them, so I can use them in Fantasy if need be... I'm thinking of starting orcs in WFB too

09-08-2007, 07:55
OK... almost ready :D

Please C&C... I really hardly hear antyhing from you guys!

Sory for posting pics as links, but this was the only way I could fit them in one post. Don't want to be called spammer anymore...

09-08-2007, 08:16
You don't hear any C&C because your Orks are awesome. I'm no expert but I don't see anything wrong with the brushwork. Maybe the green could use some highlighting to lighten it, but even that's unnecessary. All in all nice job, they look great.

Maybe you should look into neodymium magnets to switch out arms if you want to use the Black Orcs for both 40K and WFB.

09-08-2007, 08:31
Well... Arsonist. I don't want to sound to modest, but I really am not a good painter... Irondog is (from Waaagh forum). I'm not... but I'm trying.

12-08-2007, 21:59
Hehe, Wikear your painting is very awesome :) We can all point to somebody on the internet that can paint better!

I'm gonna see if I can finish a kommando tomorrow (sprayed, greened & metalled just need the rest :P)

17-08-2007, 20:49
Here is the model for mini exchange... almost finished. I'm posting it here cause we are to post finished models only in SME thread.

So here it is:

Please C&C, pretty please...

04-09-2007, 18:57
I would really appreciate some feedback, hehe, come on guys...

I had some work done and here is what I have done:

Got painted, need to paint riders though...

Got the third one of eBay, and painted it as soon as I got it.
Driver needs his left hand and the steering wheel, but I can't be bother atm.

04-09-2007, 18:59

I bought it of eBay, painted it and now Dread has some company

Finished it for my warboss and retinue...

and boss with the guyz...

They need some painting tho, as you can see ;-)

Also, I bought few bits:

Two blisters of heavy weapons boyz (2x big shoota, 2x rokkit) and Warlord... aaaand Kommando with big shoota, hehe

Plenty of work ahead of me!

PLEASE C&C, pretty please

04-09-2007, 19:34
really missed this log, you are the king or orcs!

04-09-2007, 20:04
Cool man!! This is really turning into a super army :) I would really like to see a groupshot. Paintwise I have nothing to add really, you're doing an awesome job.

BTW, you as much looking forward to the new codex as me? :D (and a gazillion other people)

04-09-2007, 20:34
Gazillion... haha

I'm saving up for Game's Day to get some new stuff (if they sell anything over there, but I prefer to be lock and loaded).

I'm thinking of Baneblade konwershun... damn... 60 pounds though!

I'm building a ten-boy squad of Flash Gitz... should I paint them white ;-) :D

04-09-2007, 20:45
Ooh, yes a Baneblade will be the centerpiece of my to be Ork army :D Too bad I can't go to games day, but patience thing young grasshopper has in plenty.

05-09-2007, 22:10
@ Edzard:

wish granted ;-)

What do you think?

06-09-2007, 08:21

That is a real WAAAAAGH :D You should be very very very proud!! The army is very coherent and it look stunning all together.

Thanks for taking the pictures!

06-09-2007, 17:52
It wil get even bigger. I want to add 10 Tankbustas, 10 Flash Gits, 2 Killa Kans (to have 3), 5 nobs in 'eavy armour for Warboss and 5 nobs in mega armour for Ghazghkull. Plus One heavy weapon for Kommando.

Oh... I have my old Dread which is not in the pic and which I use :D so I have 2 Dreads and (will have) 3 Killa Kans :D Loooove them Killa Kans... I want 9... 9... ;-)

06-09-2007, 18:39
Haha, superb!!

Aren't you afraid half your army will be useless when the new codex comes out?

06-09-2007, 18:43
I'm not a power player or codex player as they say... I love to send my orks for slaughter :D hehe 16 orks against 5 termies and forget the choppa 4+ save rule... that's me :D get my mob wiped out by slow and alumbering fu**ers :(

I play for fun and to meet my friends...

06-09-2007, 21:33
I love the shade of your Orks' skin, how do you do that?

18-09-2007, 20:23
After I got my two Killa Kans, which will be painted / assembled on my next nightshift, I'm going to start working on my own Baneblade.

It's not going to be scratch built, but almost all the work will be done by me. I'm going to use Challanger 1 Mk.3 model from Tamiya. That's how it looks like (the box):

And when compared to a Killa Kan (from eBay):

I think it's quite up to scale as the original one. I just can't dish out 60 quid atm, so I decided to dish out only 20 (for the Challenger model) and do it like I want it.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Ideas?

18-09-2007, 20:28
Sure you don't want to use a chunkier, or blockier tank from WW2?
While I do love the Challenger, it is a little sleek for Orks imho.

18-09-2007, 20:31
Nice stuff - consider me subscribed for orky inspiration goodness ;)

18-09-2007, 21:09
Sure you don't want to use a chunkier, or blockier tank from WW2?
While I do love the Challenger, it is a little sleek for Orks imho.

Well... maybe, but couldn't find anything interesting and I love this tank :P I will add loads of stuff... I thought of buing this orky kit for Baneblade and apply those bits on this one :D plus some plasticard.

Nice stuff - consider me subscribed for orky inspiration goodness ;)

Thanks you ;-)

Anyone else?

25-09-2007, 07:43
As you all remember I started building my own SkullHammer basing on Challanger 1 MK3 model from Tamyia. My aim was to add stuff to it to make it look more orkish. After few hours of patient assembly I had sth more or less like this:

25-09-2007, 07:44
Today's night I spent around 6 hours of putting on details, sponsons for twin linked big shootas and creating the big gun itself. It was quite a challenge to convert this challenger (hehe) but I hope the end result proves to be worth it.

Next on my agenda is painting the whole thing. Careful application of red, black ink, drybrush with boltgun metal and mithrill silver on scratched parts, then wash scratched mithrilled parts with brown. Next step will be painting all the glyphs and teeth all over the tank and the 'tank commander'.
I won't be putting too much detail, as I want to be finished with it by Saturday 29th for the Ignition Day at my local GW store.

Will post pics with painting results later on...

Please criticise and comment as much as possible I love your comments; criticism not so much :P hehehe

Over & Out

25-09-2007, 11:27
Looks awesome Wikear!! The only thing that I don't really understand is the bent piece on top of the barrel, what is it?

Those reactive armour plates look orky, I had my doubts when I thought of the tank being made Orky, but you made it happen. Well done Wikear :)

25-09-2007, 14:51
Yeah, I must admit to being pretty impressed. I thought that tank would look way too clean and straight to be a good Ork vehicle, but you are doing really well!

I like how the barrel is now shorter and slightly split, and that bent piece on top looks (to me) like a hurried Ork workaround to keep it on while firing.

25-09-2007, 14:56
Looks great! - I love the use of Mightly Empire tiles - ingenious... :D

25-09-2007, 17:17
Few pics of unfinished painted thing, hehe, need to spent more time on details:

What ya think?

25-09-2007, 18:11
Looks awesome so far. :skull:

28-09-2007, 21:27
And another project on the horizon.. just picked up Mr. Potato head from my local Sainsburry's :D

Will be making a stompa out of it :D

Any ideas? Suggestions?

28-09-2007, 21:35
...oh wow that is going to look hilarious/awesome.

29-09-2007, 04:32
I'd keep it like that, looks great! :P

29-09-2007, 08:40
hehe Edzard... but it still looks not dangerous and vicious enough :D

or maybe I'm wrong :D

29-09-2007, 09:13
The helmet and feet already look great, so I'd be adding orky glyphs, and some big guns etc, and you should be good to go.

Given your track record with the tank, should come out great :)

18-10-2007, 07:11
That's what you get when u let orks loot your oomie vehicles, hehe

Not totally finished, need to spend some more time on it, but I just want to get my army ready to play with some more than 1500 points.

Please don't comment on the paint job, it's just 'colorised'. I will do some more detailed work soon. For now: what do you think about this idea? huh?

18-10-2007, 07:51
Plus here, a group shot :D

Here comes that Gang Bang :D

18-10-2007, 08:07
Looks cool, kinda oldschool :)

A little comment, the killa kan on the right has terrible basing! :p

Glad to see an update :D New orks are getting closer by the day!

18-10-2007, 08:13
A little comment, the killa kan on the right has terrible basing! :p

Shh.... all my old models have that kind of basing. I don't giva a monkey banana about bases :D Still true, hehehe

19-10-2007, 15:58
OK... another piece of work done. Here's an old truck done to look like the more recent one:

Please C&C

20-10-2007, 09:59
I had some work done on my trukk... or should I call it 'UVA TRRUK from now on, hehe

here are the pics:

20-10-2007, 10:30
I just though I'm gonna sum it up a little:

size comparisson:

And my vehicles in ork Waaagh!

at the moment:

+ 1 ork killa kan unassembled

Please C&C guys! I life for feedback, hehe

20-10-2007, 11:28
Mr Potato Optimus "The True Avatar of Gork, or is that Mork"

Great work so far.

20-10-2007, 12:09
NOOOOOOOOO! Run for your lives! Optimash Prime!

great orks btw, I love Uber Trruk.

20-10-2007, 22:29
Very nice. This makes me more excited to start collecting Orks once they're redone.

20-10-2007, 22:34
Love it, as usual :)

I really think orks are the greatest race in 40k ever! I had such a hard time playing with them, but fluff and stuff should have made up for that.. I guess I might be a competitive person or my friends are really good gloaters :(

22-10-2007, 19:02

I just bought another Challanger to make another Skullhammer. This time bigger and meanier!

22-10-2007, 19:53
I love that tank! I should so do that with my left over M60...

31-10-2007, 14:08
Jus been rereading through the log, and I have aquestion.

On the skin, you mention you drybrushed the highlights on - did you do this for all the models, or did you switch to layering? I only ask as the models stand up very well to close up photographing...

31-10-2007, 19:02
which photos do u mean exactly?

sometimes id do Dark Angels Green 100%, then drybrush DAG+Snotling Green 50-50 and then drybrush SG 100%

but it all depends on my mood

sometimes it's just DAG 100% and then drybrush of SG 100%

31-10-2007, 19:32
I'll be putting a couple of stages in, but essentially, its the fact the highlighting is all done through drybrushing.

I know you did some with the Foundation Green, then drybrushed up... which do you feel gave the best results?

31-10-2007, 20:06
Actually yes :D

Last few orks I've done with foundation green and then Snot Green. Thanks for reminding me.

I prefer foundation paint as it gives darker shade of green.

31-10-2007, 20:06
Mr. Orky Stompa Potato Head in your Ork Waaaagh made me laugh till it hurt! Excellent work, mate! The use of those ME tiles as sponsons is the best idea I've seen in a while. Mr. Orky Stompa Potato Head may be a close second though!

04-11-2007, 22:53
I've finished upgrading one of the mobs from 21 to 30 orks. That's how it looks now:

There will be another one to that, just shoota boys with 3 big shootas.
Both of them will be mounted into my skullhammers

06-01-2008, 01:23
OMFG... last time I posted was two months ago... damn it!

But, don't fret ;-) with the release of new orks, I got back some motivation and will be finishing started projects before allowing myself to buy any new sexy models...

That's the line-up:

Skullhammer (second one)
Big Mek (old one)
some troops

I will try to do those in any order but as soon as possible... I want my hands on SPEARHEAD by the end of February... yummy!

13-01-2008, 21:58
OK, I opened my box with bits and bobs and that's what I found:

These are the minis I have got to paint before the end of March. Why? Cause when I get paid I will buy some more orks :D

23-01-2008, 07:34
Hi there my beloved subscribers (do I have any?). Here are two minis I got painted during last two days...

23-01-2008, 07:34
and one and only:

Comments are welcomed...

23-01-2008, 21:28
Super orks Wikear :)

The bone on Ghazzy looks good, how did you do it?

24-01-2008, 07:54
OK... two better pics of BIG MEK and WARLORD... (I love my new digital camera)

And 4 nobz I've painted this night... not finished, they need few touch-ups, but I want my army ready to play ASAP:

plenty of layers from vomit vomit brown, thru kommando khaki and chestnut wash to bleached bone and white... took me like 30 mins and I now some people would spend more time... I'm not that patient / time waster :P

25-01-2008, 05:25
One more mini after today's shift :P

Kommando Big Shoota

26-01-2008, 21:26
My WAAAaaagh! is coming... But we've been spotted and some intel has been gathered by the oomiez... Here are the pics:

8 Stromboyz

8 Kommando

10 'Ardboyz

Our motorized section, 3 buggies, 3 bikes, skullhammer, 2 kans and 2 dreads...

26-01-2008, 21:28
First mob of our sluggaz

Second mob of our sluggaz

Mighty shootaz

Our prophet of Gork, or is it Mork?, Ghazghkull and his retinue on a trukk

26-01-2008, 21:29
They also noticed our dread is broken... DARN!!!

29-01-2008, 22:49

Two Rokkits carriers :D almost done...

30-01-2008, 09:57
Cool man, I'm gonna try that rokkit design on the 2 rokkit boyz I got lying around :D

Btw, how many points are your Orks totalling now?

30-01-2008, 10:46
All minis around 2300pts

But to a normal game (not Apocalypse) around 1700. I want to have a solid 1500 pts army to play with and couple of options to it.

floyd pinkerton
03-02-2008, 17:13
I've had a read through and thouroughly enjoyed it! Nice stuff;)

Consider your Challenger tank/Skullhamma idea well and truly nicked:D (with your permission)

03-02-2008, 18:40
I will be making another one, already got the model, but have an idea for different look. We will see where it takes us :D

I bought a box of new orks 10 men squad and want to say one thing: if you have two spare pairs of legs u can make 10 boys, 1 nob, 1 rokkit and 1 big shoota :D 13 boys ! juhu!! :D

Unfortunately I got 29 new boys to paint :( poor me

20-06-2008, 10:37
It was a while since I been here last time. Well... got some updates ;-)
Will post photos soon as I have finished my 2 30strong mobs and they are now ready to roll.

See you all soon!

20-06-2008, 10:57
Good grief - I dunno about Orks, you should be playing undead with the 'Raise thread' spell..

Still good to see you still going. THis log has been an inspiration for my very own... looking forward to the piccies :D

20-06-2008, 17:52
hehe thanks Crube :D Glad to hear that!

03-08-2008, 12:10
Battlewagon en-route!

Pics tomorrow!

03-08-2008, 12:53
Game played at work, on a nightshift, so please don't mind the scenery :P
We rolled for Capture and Control, and decided to have a third objective in the middle.

We played 1k armies

10x Warriors
10x Warriors
5x Immortals
3x Destroyers
6x Scarab Swarms
3x Wraiths
4x Flayed Ones
1x Necron Lord

30x Slugga Boyz (3x Big Shoota, 1 Nob w PK)
30x Shoota Boyz (3x Rokkits, 1 Nob w Kustom Kombi)
5x Nobz in a Trukk (3x PK)
1x Deff Dread (Big Shoota, Rokkit)
1x Big Mek (Kustom Mega Blasta)
3x War Buggies (3x TL Big Shootas)

Turn 1

Enemy sends out his 3 Destroyers towards my Big Mek, Trukk with 5 Nobz and Deff Dread. They open fire but managed nothing else then scratch the red paint job. On the other flank 3 Wraiths followed by a 6 strong swarm of Scarabs are heading towards my 3 War Buggies and Slugga Boyz. Warriors and Immortals are taking an objective surrounding the Lord. One squad of Warriors ventures up the hill for the middle objective.

My Slugga Boyz charged towards the Wraiths. War Buggies opened fire and managed to destroy on of the Wraiths. Shoota Boyz went up the hill but stopped just before the hill top to surprise the enemy in a 'kunnin' trap'. Big Mek leans out behind the Deff Dread and him with Trukk open fire towards Destroyers. Success! Destroyers are gone!

Turn 2

Wraiths and Scarabs Swarms assaulted my Slugga Boyz killing few of my men. But orks didn't wait long to kill back and got rid of 2 Swarms. Warriors that tried to charge middle Objective retreated, foolishly, and stayed put at the Home Objective.

Shoota Boyz seeing no enemy coming down the hill charged the middle Objective and held ground with 30 strong mob. Big Mek, Deff Dread and Trukk with 5 Nobz opened fire towards the gap with 10 Wariorrs in it. The fight with Wraiths and Scrabs continued until orks ran out of enemies. 2 Wraiths and 4 Scarab Swarms destroyed!

Turn 3

20 Warriors and 5 Immortals opened fire at Shoota Boyz covering the Middle Objective killing only few.

My Heavy Support unit on right flank kept shooting at 10 strong Warriors squad killing only one. Shoota Boyz returned fire at the Immortals killing 2 of them! Slugga Boyz moved back to cover Home Objective and War Buggies as well as the Trukk charged forward.

Trun 4

Small unit of Flayed ones came into play Deep Striking. Fortunately for me my kunnin' orky devizes worked well and they scattered 10 inches away from where they wanted. Flayed ones went behind cover to avoid 16 sluggas and 3 big shootas.

War Buggies got some ground and opened fire at a Immortals unit killing 1! Shoota Boyz at the top pf the hill also targeted Immortals and killed another 1! Big Mek and his Kustom Mega Blast kept shooting Warriors unit, same as Deff Dread. They killed none... Trukk with Nobs charged from cover challanging Necron's Home Objective. Unluckily they got shot to bits loosing 3... The Trukk got shot too and exploded killing the remaining 2... typical!

Turn 5

Flayed ones assaulted my War Buggies stunning the crew. Warriors and Immortals kept shooting my Shoota Boyz but the orky numbers were greater than their clip capacity and still plenty survived to hold the objective.

Big Mek charged forward hoping for some good fighting. Deff Dread kept shooting Warriors unit taking down 2 of them. They 'came back' couple mins later. Shoota Boyz kept shooting the last Immortal, but he was lucky enough to ricochet all of the shots.

Turn 6

Flayed ones after seeing no point in attacking my War Buggies headed towards Shoota Boyz in hope for getting the Middle Objective. Close combat didn't go well for my orks, couple of them died. Still 2 Flayed ones died! The last Immortal made a stand to stop the War Buggies and shot at them killing none.

War Buggies kept shooting at the brave, or stupid Immortal, but managed only to scratch his head case. Deff Dread joined Big Mek in a final charge, didn't managed to kill anything. Shoota Boyz kept fighting the Flayed and killed 1 more! Slugga Boyz had to keep watching their mates fight without getting any good fightin' on their own... hard is the life of ork sometimes.

Pics are as follows:
Deployment, Turn 1-6

03-08-2008, 20:00
I like orks and I like this thread! I may steal some of your ideas. Love it.

04-08-2008, 07:34
Progress so far:

Please C&C

04-08-2008, 07:53
Very nice. Looking suitably ramshakle - as it should be :D

A couple of things that I noticed.

The engine / exhaust parts on the back seem very small compared to the rest of the model. In my opinion, it either needs more of them, or bigger ones... or both ;)

I'm not sure about the landspeeder bit at the front, especially with the space marine still in the seat. I'll probably be using the cockpit part of the new trukk for mine, to keep it looking orky.

The barrels on the back look as though they'd fall off as soon as the wagon moved. I'd be inclined to either put some chains over them, or lay them down. They'd match with the ones on the back of the tank too...

Love the use of the cannon. Maybe try and buid up some extra support at the rear, or around the mount?

Heh, reading back through this post, makes me sound really picky and as though I dont like it. I do - I just reckon these are small points that could possibly make it even better.

Good stuff :D

Don't worry Crube... I collect the ideas and use them to my advantage to make Waaagh wikear bigger and stronger and mightier than Waaagh Crube :D

I need all feedback I can get! Thanks for that!

I think I know what you mean with that Land Speeder. I think I will keep it, but put some wheels to it and make it a War Buggie or sth :P

Barrels, yes... I agree in 100% some chains or straps would look awesome!

Engines, I need some parts to make them look like engines, true. 99p Store, Poundland stores behold! I'm on quest for some trucks with engines sticking out! :P

Thanks Crube...

Hey there wikear!!

thats one awesome job youve done!! you are one of the reasons that makes me want to start an Ork army!!

BTW i know youve already got your trukks, but just wanted to share some ideas for the trukks.

Like a garbage trukk, a fire trukk(what the most red trukk youve ever seen?), and delivery trukks(the ones used by coke and pepsi):p

23-09-2008, 17:09
a fire trukk

with flamers on it... muehehehe :D idea noted

and delivery trukks (the ones used by coke)

evil santa? coca-cola christmas... hmm sounds too weird even for orks :P

23-09-2008, 23:06
For the coke trukk, the company (coca cola) is supplying the orks with coke to fuel their vehichles in exchange of not touching the company's delivery ships??:D
