Alright guys summer has come and its finally time to do my Tau army.
Here is what I have finished so far.

My test model
The red looks better in person, not as dark but my photo skills are not that great. The only thing I am not sure is good is the blue lenses. But its the best color that I tried.

Good stuff, the blue lenses look really nice to me and really stand out from the rest of the red on the armor. Is that battle damage i'm seeing on the hammerhead? Looks like some tyranids tried to give it a clawing.

Looking nice, i like the firewarrior especially, the blue is a really nice contrast to the red, but you should probably clean up the white on the sept symbol, it looks like you painted it straight over black, i would suggest building it up from a light grey first, then a layer of skull white and then another watered down layer

The blue lenses are fine, these boys look really mean. I'll be keeping an eye on this. For the greater good!

@Darkane- Why yes it is battle damage. My tanks and even some of my fire warriors are going to have some battle damage. If you haven't guessed from the red colour scheme yet my army is a Farsight army without Farsight. My general, commander Hellfire is one of Farsight's lieutenants. Hence battle damage due to close quarters fighting and lack of resources to repair every little scratch that T'au seems to do.

@harlequin21- ahhh I see what you mean about the sept symbol, must have missed that. :)

@Eniac-Thanks hopefully they will come out half as good as your Sa'cea army.

Thanks to everyone for commenting so far. Should have updates on the Hammerhead later today.

Looking good. Personally I would like to see the cockpit windshield given the shiny gem treatment. dark in the upper left corner with a glint of white and lighter in the bottom right (or vice versa)

Kudos on the magnetising. I keep planning on doing some magnets but I could never be arsed :(

Alright guys I have gone way too long without painting and updating my army. However life just gets a little busy sometimes. So after a very long and overdue need for an update I have two FW broadsides and some Fire Warriors done. And without any more a due here they are.

I'm absolutely loving that shade of red. Nice and dirty-looking, like a break-away faction should look.

Seconded, you don't see many red tau about. These look great.

For the red I prime the model black, then put on a base layer of Scab Red, followed by a highlight of Red Gore, with another highlight of Blood Red. Then a full wash of watered down Chaos Black, to the point its very ink-like, only without the staining effect so that you can drag it around and keep the shading were you want. Lastly a wash of Red Ink to really pull the model together and shine up the armour.

If anyone else has anymore questions feel free to ask.
