Well, its summer for me, and well, the villain is broke and I'm lookin for greenbacks. I started an eldar army a while ago but got as far as half a war walker and three plates on a Wave Serpent. Well, with rekindled vigour I am at it again. So far the army is as follows.
-20 Dire Avengers
-20 Guardians
-1 Support Weapon
-2 War Walkers
-1 Wraithlord
-6 Striking Scorpions
-6 Warp Spiders
-5 Rangers
-6 Howling Banshees
-1 Autarch
-1 Farseer
Tactically I am not sure how well this list would work or how many points it is. If anyone has any suggestions to add to the list to make it more viable I am open to any exceptions. Well Enough rambling, I'll throw up some pictures. First, the Dire Avengers:

Very nice looking Autarch conversion, and the subtle swirls on the paint are great :)

Not too sure about the practicality of those rangers' cloaks though myself... :p

Yea, I'm not too sure about them myself. :wtf: But, they look damn good amongst the other eldar, or at least I hope so, hopefully I won't take too much heat. I'll have more pics up in a couple hours, today is the designated, "villain gets **** done" day.

They look awesome mate, really take the cake on the whole Dazzle camoflage approach.

Is this army going to be themed around a Slaaneshi cult or did my brain just jump to the wrong conclusion.

Oh and sweet blending on the War walker :D

Cheers

Yes they will be themed around a Slaaneshi Cult.... Hence the similar colourschemes across the board. I'm not too sure about any drastic conversions, maybe saved for a later date. Anyone want to buy a scratchbuilt nurgle baneblade?

Well, I hate to double post, but I alas I have some more updates and progress. I have gotten a little further on the Dire Avengers as well as the Rangers. I also began work on the Autarch, with those two tropps choices and an HQ along with the warwalker I should have a decent small playable force to test out. I also am building 5 other Dire Avengers atm to round that squad out to ten. Enough rambling, on with the pictures.

Yea, as i progress through each model its becoming easier to paint each individual part, these first 5 dire avengers were test models, the next 15 should look a great deal better. The wraithlord and warwalker are almost done as well as more built DA's. I'll have more pics up soon.

Nice autarch model, unique farseer base there. I like the wraithlord bristling with guns too, and the under-slung launcher is cool all by itself. Very impressive colors too, way to be :skull:

Well, its update time. I let this thread go to the wayside for a while but its back with a vengence now. I have been painting quite a lot within the past couple weeks, finished most of the block coloring on my guardians and dire avengers. I am still contemplating leaving the pink face mask on the Avengers or painting them black like the guardians, I'm not quite sure atm. The rangers cloaks are starting to bug me as well, anyone have any suggestions on what to do with the cloaks? The armies bases are shadow grey gravel with dead static grass and snow. Should I opt for a grey cloak on them? Anyways, enough ranting and raving, I'll slap up some more WIP pictures now.

Yeah, the scheme is starting to grow on me as well. I think it will make much more sense once my true HQ and fast attack are sorted out. The roguefleet is indeed being led to their doom by a rogue shadowseer influenced by slaanesh. (I'm going to use him as a farseer though.) I'm also contemplating making a unit or jetbikes out of those slaaneshi daemonic mounts and howling banshees. :skull: I painted more onto the wraithlord and warwalkers last night as well as the other farseer.

Honestly, your colour scheme should vary a little for each other troops. I was expecting your Scrops and Spiders to have a varied look with the themed pink and blue.

This looks like Craftworld Circus... But nice paintjob and the Dre Avenger Exarch looks...Hunkalicious. LOL
Btw, the pose looks like the Necron Lord...

Yea, I just now realized that too, thus the scropions armour will recieve a jade green wash to make them more greeny, and... The warpspiders will be painted in ultramarine instead of the turqouise and, the banshees will be mainly pink and gold with an undecided colour for their hair. Now despite a lack of interest in my own thread I will continue to update it for those who would like to see what progress Ive made. I'm nearing completion on the scorpions right now, then I'm going to start on the warpspiders. Without further a-do, here are some flicks.

Yea, I had second guesses about the scheme several times during the initial stages of painting and almost through in the towel, because it did look like doodoo at the beginning. Now I think I am finally starting to like the scheme, I am going to start shading with purples and blues and other assorted slaaneshi colours to break up the monotany of pink and turquoise. Heres a shot of the Army all together as well as the newly updated ranger cloaks.

Really, the more I look at this force the more impressed I am, tje colour really really works to get the fluff across. The minor variation for the differentaspects is cleverly done too. Great work man. Are you leavign the bases like that or doing more to them? A little splash of colour here and there might help.
I like the pathfinder cloaks more than the last lot. Having glimpses of colourful armour next to the neutral cloaks could be really effective.
One more thing - a way up the thread you mentioned a nurgle baneblade? if you still have it/are selling it i might be interested. PM me pictures if you have any.

Ya, thanks for the comments guys. PaintingMonkey, I appreciate your input and it wasn't until the monotany of my colour scheme was brought to my attention today in this thread that I decided to change the aspects armour etc... I'm glad to have posters such as you guys guiding me through this venture. Well, the batteries are charging atm... I've got some more done on the scorpions as well as the guardians and avengers weapons done. Expect updates within the hour. Heres a shot at whats next after the scorpions...

Didn't he write those terrible books called like warriors something? No that is not me, does he have similar ideas in his books? As for the Exarch, I didnt think it was much of a conversion, I more or less, just stuck the pieces together.

Sorry, just a joke about the Slaaneshi nature of this army: Goto (from what I've heard of him) portrays almost all Eldar in his books as inbred, stupid Slaanesh worshippers ;)

Metal Fingered Villain

Thanks for all the comments guys, its much appreciated and helps me push my ideas and skills further. A package arrived in the mail today, got me another box of dire avengers, one shadowseer and one mounted daemonette, eventually I need to cop like 5 more for the biker squad but just one should do for now to see how they turn out. I began work on one of my new HQ choices, she is going to take the place of jain-zarr as a phoenix lord to lead the howling banshee squad, I also did a little head swap with my autarch, I think it gives him a more mysterious, daemonic look. I have also come a little closer in finish the striking scorpions, they just need their weapons and gems painted and they should be finished.

Well, progress has been a bit slow on the Eldar as summer takes it's hold on me and I pursue a real life outside of my basement dungeon. I have found some time to start work on finishing all the details on the army, the first, the single 10 man squad of guardians.

Unique look, well painted. Where did you get the idea for the scheme?

Metal Fingered Villain
03-08-2007, 09:25
Well, I did not want to paint my eldar army as just another vanilla craftworld scheme so I sat in my basement for a while pondering in a cloud of purple smoke when it hit me! A craftowlrd of eldar who hunt down the followers of slaanesh. Well, this theme slowly gave birth to a slaanesh cult of eldar who are slowly treading down the path of damnation led by the rogue shadow seer. On a side note, I've got some pics of the rangers...still a lot to do.
