The Blight Of the Necrontyr

Ages ago on a world far away from the eye of the imperium a mighty war raged between the chosen of nurgle and the might of the necrontyr. The necrontyr where clearly superior in numbers and the deathguard where having trouble keeping them from annilating all of the Chosen of Nurgle. In a secret deathguard bunker a Techpriest from dark mechanicus slaved away for the Deathguard. He was being payed to create a tech virus that would corrupt the necrons and convert them to Nurgle. As the necrontyr launched there final attack the techpriest finished his work. Unfortunately the techpriest and ultimately the deathguard where destroyed. However………..the virus was not. The necrons nearby were quickly struck down with the virus and mutated and turned to the greatest of the gods…Nurgle. Dundundah
Lol

Well it may sound odd but the reason im doing it is the new choas codex
Im a Nurgle devotee through and through but i dont like the sound of the new codex
So my next project

The blight of the Necrontyr

Well i discussed this idea here
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88119

So i thought i shall start my new project
As of yet i have no necrons but i will soon be purchasing some
So any advice on how to make this army work
As of yet im still undecided on the paintscheme
I will decide soon

Interesting... seeing as the Necron lack internal organs, I'd expect lots of rust and weird growths, like coral or barnacles. They'd also be a good source of weeping ooze.

This could definitely have potential - look forward to seeing it in action!

This is a pretty novel idea and the wip is nice.

Ever watched Evangelion? It reminds me of the Eva's that have living components in them (I think, I've only watched half of the show so far, no spoilers!). I'd suggest giving some of the necron eyeballs, or perhaps, nasty undead appendages, blood dripping from their joints like oil (Cool!)...sort of like they are evolving back to their old 'living' form, but remain shattered and grotesque visages of their once organic selves.

Get to work, I demand mo' updates!

Paint them up normal Necron sceme (Boltgun) before washing the pustles Red and painting marks on the surrounding area so it looks like they're "bleeding" into it, before highlighting the holes with a Green/red mix with Green for the edges.

Great GS work. An army of these guys would look great.

Its nice to see the crons (which I think are kind of boring) done in a very different way.

Keep it up, and lets see it painted

For sure, but I seriously cannot stress how cool it would be to paint blood literally pouring from all orifices on these guys...imagine your first model with rotten flesh growing on it and blood dripping from it's dark, lifeless eye sockets, joints, and hands.

I think that would be awesome!

Looking good.

I like your gs work and without a doubt an army of these guys will look great.

For paint scheme I suggest this...
Black undercoat
Boltgun Metal drybrush
Green ink wash
highlight Boltgun Metal
Then a various selection of browns, greens and reds for the technovirus corruption.

Thanks for the comments everyone
Sorry bout the lack of updates, i went hiking this weekend and am totally buggered
i think the scheme will be:
Black Undercoat
Brown layer
Boltgun metal drybrush
Browny Green wash
Red wash on the Infection bits
Random highlights

Sound good?

ok mate, i've not posted on here for which i am sorry...

anyway, know nothing of GS so lets talk paint! i like the sound of the scheme, very much so, and think it should work, though can i suggest a corrosive edge to the infection bits? you know when you add acid to (some types of) metal and it fizzes up, perhaps do something like that? also, go for the least organic colour you can think of for it, totally show that it's unhuman if that makes sense?

have u thought about using a hot needle to put patches of holes in the model to look like the metal has been coroded

hmm ill have to try that

well thanks for all the comments
before i go on i must give regonition to the 2 people who inspired me to do this army. You see when my friend luke was helping me with my nurgle army i was painting a Eldar autarch waiting for GS to dry and he was reading Codex: Necron and he said 'hmm you should nurglify some 'crons' i thought he was crazy so continued painting. A little while ago while me and destris where trying to cut a deal in a trade he asked if i wanted any crons, saying 'maybe you could nurglify some crons'. So finally i decided to have a go at it and it turned out great.
So to cut a long story short thanks to Steve (destris) and Luke for conning me into this crazy army idea

cheers dudes,
Now scrubout why have you not posted here yet, you yell at me to update and then not post, (shocked and appalled) only joking

cheers,

Edit: what does everyone fink of the orange DA

Hortwerth

Honestly, it could use a wash and a highlight to the most folded areas. And he's more black than orange, so calling him orange may not be totally understandable (tongue in cheek and:rolleyes:)

As for sculpting, the scarabs look a bit overloaded with the GS. Try cutting sections of the models (like, half of the carapace) and THEN filling the hole with GS and nurglifying it. It should look much more integral to the miniature. Also, you may consider pressing short sections of guitar string into the open wounds.

On the scarabs you already did, I'd cut the GS to let their legs be seen - so that the large sick area is contained to carapace only.

I love the legs of the 'crons though, especially the ones that have the lover leg and feet swollen in blisters.

As for painting them, try go with the scheme you mentioned, just gently drybrush the ill areas with Elf Flesh (or Bleached Bone) prior to washing them with green and red. It should be more visible and look much sicker this way.

Good luck with this project!

I like it sarge!

I still think a wash of red gore and blood red dripping out of the cracks of the ribs and joints would give the necron an even greater sense of 'organic-ness', plus I imagine it would look creepy as hell if you don't you just wash the entire model with red.

Looking forward to updates on both armies!
