Before beggining in earnest i do appreciate that Games Workshop are restricted (in shopping malls etc.) from significantly altering their opening hours from that of the other retail outlets.

However, having often sat in Games Workshop stores to paint (yes I am a lazy student dosser until I start my first proper graduate job next week) it is amazing how little custom Games Workshop gets during most of its typical opening hours - something like 10-5 or 6 (half-terms excepted)

Surely if possible Games Workshop stores should be open in the evening every night (except sundays perhaps).

Most of the custom would naturally come after school hours and after veteran (or at least older and greyer) players finish work.

If they could do this - every night could be a games night. Store leagues and veteran nights could recomense and even specialist games could be player either once a week or fortnightly etc.

Is there really any need to open until at least lunch time at all?

It would certainly make sense in term time to open 12 till 8 or something. Possibly later.

Whe I ran an indie store for a while we experimented with opening 12 noon till 11pm. Sometimes i worked, sometimes not. The problem is if you do that you have people worling a longer day, or need overlapping shifts. It can be quite hard to get staff in the evenings.

I know it doesn't help you, but the GW's near me are open to 9:00 PM every weeknight :)

 This would be rubbish for any staff not meeting the stereotype of single without dependants!:p

there are variable opening hours across the GW chain. THere are a lot of things that guys in the store need to do that they need time for so it wouldnt always be advantageous for them to only open at certain times.

They should have nighters on the weekends.

somewhere around 6-8 on weekdays.

schools get out at about 3-4pm so closing at 6ish on week nights is plenty , most of the trade comes on a weekend anyway .

For about a year in the UK they tried a new opening hours concept, instead of opening at ten, they were not opening until midday but still closing at 6pm.
This was only Monday to Friday and NOT during school holidays.
It seemed to be working well but then the crunch came with the profit loss and the hours were pushed back out again for no apparent reason.

The closest GW to me is closed Wednesday and Thursday.

I have most free time on those days, which is when I usually go shopping - plenty of parking and no crowds.

No impulse buys from me then from GW.

er no. It was silly becasue the full timers are contracted to 40hrs per week and paided for that. When they cut the hours by 10 a week that ment staff were only doing a 30-34 hour week, depending on whether you worked a late night and still getting paided for 40hrs (as they could not exactly cut wages). Now they then changed to opening at 12 noon and getting staff in at 10am. Which was just as much as a farce as then you would have a staff in your stores, getting paid but not actually selling anything. It was all a very stupid idea.

As for store opening hours. Personally they are fine 10-6 most day (except sun) with late night spread out and varying depending on the store managers choice.
