Why aren't there any special Strigoi characters with PROFILES? Were there are ever Strigoi characters given profiles? Why doesn't GW make Strigoi characters w/ profiles like the Ghoul King?

Strigoi is a new bloodline to this edition. There are no Strigoi special characters the same way there's no Blood Dragon or Lahmia special characters. Maybe they'll get something the next time there's a campaign or a new Vampire Counts book, who knows?

There is a Lahmia special character with a model around. Neferata had a model and rules in 5th edition. Updated 6th edition rules can be found on the GW website, along with some other older special characters, like Vlad von Carstein, Heinrich Kemmler and Krell.

Bottom line, tough, as long as there's no official model around, gw is not going to make a profile for those special characters.

Damn. Yeah, your right. I wish that they had made some new characters when they had realeased Lustria. It would've fit wouldn't?

PS. you know, they don't have any Blood Dragons either? They have a semi one. Konrad von Carstein right?

Don't you think Konrad von Carstein is a von Carstein vampire?
A mad and magicaly incompetent one but still a von Carstein.

I don't think that GW is really interested in special characters aside from storylines and campaigns. Even if they jack up the price you still only sell a single model to a person. Additionally, a lot of people look down on playing special characters--so too much emphasis on this could scare people off--after all, GW is constantly dealing with customer complaints, why do they need more?

Furthermore, as stated earlier--Strigoi are relatively new, and somewhat a mystery to the world. It doesn't seem to fit into the fluff for their to be a special character just yet--maybe when they have had more time to develop?

Blood Dragons had rules for Walach Harkon in the 5th edition fantasy book. However, since there was no model around, those rules weren't updated in 6th edition.

Each army book only has 2 special characters in it... 3 max.....

I hope GW carries on with this direction... instead of 5th ed where the Dark elf army book and about 7 special characters.... (ok... i just counted... 6).

Special characters add little to smaller games (where they can be taken in 2k... NORMALLY only taking up a rare and a lord at most)

As for strigoi.... they dont really lend themselves very well to sprcial characters.. msot are mindless monsters.... not a very exciting story...

"This strigoi is a big monster and killed lots of people"

"so is this one"

That said the do need new models... the current ones are possibly some of the worst i have seen form GW.... they look like orcs with cerbeal palsy

Another point is that characters usually trive on their magic items and special rules to make them unique. You can't give Strigoi items, so that's quite out the window and lessens the possibility of making an interesting character.

Actually I think Special Characters are a very nice addition to the game IF made interestingly and too overpowered. It just seems that most SC are either too good or not good at all, making them unsuitable for tournament play and generally boring for other play. IŽd like to see more Special Characters with a well developed background and unique special rules (like Morghur, Settra, Alrik or Thanquol and others) and less characters that are just much better versions of the original character options and whom have a boring and unoriginal storyline (like Zacharias, Grimgor, Thorek Ironbrow and others)...

But to get back on subject: Its true that GW doesnt usually make SC if they dont have a mini to represent it, and in the case of the Strigoi its also due to the fact that they are an entirely new bloodline (since 6th edition). As the VC book was one of the first to come out it seems they (GW Dev team) didnt think it through, because, the most appropiate thing to do would have been to release a Strigoi SC to accompany the release of the new bloodline, and not just remake Manfred Von Carsteins rules and make a bigger version of Melkhior (Zacharias).

But all in all you should feel free to make your own SC or rules for existing ones (like Vorag, the Ghoul KIng) and if you wanna see it in a White Dwarf send it to the Dev Team in Nottingham and hope they feel interested in publishing it (they publish so many other wierd things anyway)...

Cheers, Paddy

YAH... but you coooould give him/her (scary thought) all kinds of cool Vampiric Powers!!, then he could be a stat monster, and have all kinds of other neat goodies.

The best one could come up with is giving him all Bloodline powers from the stigoi list. Not that original, since Vlad von Carstein, Zacharias and Neferata have the same (eg all powers from their list). With all those powers, a Strigoi character would be quite powerfull indeed, but still rather dull. Or you should start to make up new special rules, which can be done, but can become unbalancing really fast. Be honest, a Strigoi with all their bloodline powers is almost unstoppable already...

So then you can make a Special Character without actually having to have your opponent's permission, it'd just be another run-of-the-mill Strigoi Lord. Then, if you want, you can make up a name, history, size of shoes and all those other little things that fluff-nuts (such as myslef) find so fascinating.
