Updated Bottom of page: chaos! And now wraithlord.

Well, Ive finally gone and done it, got my very own digital camera. Ive been a lurker on the p&t logs for quite some time, and seeing some of the stuff here is a real inspiration. After looking over my friend ICE's log, i decided i needed one of my own.

Ive been working on many armies the last few years, always painting some, never finishing any. im hoping this helps me get back on track.

I'm from the snowy white north, Saskatoon, Canada. Right now i have 3 playable armies, with a forth, Angels of absolution 1st company, on the way. So enough gapping, heres what i's got.

This first batch is my new terminator deathwing army WIP, the angels of ab. 1st. It took me a while to decide how to separate the bone armored marines from thier lunky cousins, untill i saw Dominus ex Machina's termi log, and the split color scheme seemed to fall into place. Ive always been a fan of the 2nd founding angels, with their opposite color scheme, and the new fluff in the 'dex is pretty cool. Seems the angels of ab. Are alot like the dark angels in setup but differ in ideology; they dont feel they are atoning for the sins of the fallen, but it is thier right to mete out punishment. So its fair for them to have a deathwing set really, thats the kinda way they operate. I was picturing teutonic nights for the color scheme, lots of dexter and sinister stuff, checkerboard motifs etc. More to come, such as cc termis, termi command squad(under belial's rules) and 2 more dreadnaughts if i can help it, i luvs giant robots!

1st company ven. dread(forge world variant wit. plasma cannon and assault drill, cause its neato)

Wow, except for the Inquisitors cloak, I really like all the models. Fantastic.

03-07-2007, 09:05
I like the Inquisitor, although his staff looks a bit like a backscratcher I once had.

Update! So its my 22nd b-day today, my sis got me the raven-wing squadron set, so look for those biker dudes to pop up sometime in the next little while, but for now, heres some chaos traitors. A bit of back story to these dudes; I wanted to make a night lords army, big fan of the fluff and of Simon Spurrier's Lord of the night novel, but i really didn't like the color scheme. So I thought, maybe for a legion of emperor hating marines who don't worship the dark gods, a darker muddier and rougher color scheme. Enjoy and thanks for looking guys!

Possessed squad- Most of the mutations are from a cut up flamer of tzeench, for monetary reasons. I'm really psyched about the new plastics though, another squad mayhap?

The sarge

The blind swordsman!

obliterator- allot of green stuff and a weird head(skull, missile sighting, and bottom jaw to possessed arm.)

And finally, Defiler! This hunka plastic has been the deciding factor in every game, once crawled onto the roof of a liquer store and killed 8 genestealers who were lurking 10 inches away.

Love the painting style and the Deathwing army as it's coming allong. I'm doing Deathwing as well in my log (see below). I really like the bases youv'e done for your Inquisitorial retinue.

Thanx bungaroo, yeah snow always seems to look cool, especially with inq. forces. I really like how you did you deathwing, really good poses. Interesting note. I wanted to do something different from the bone white of the deathwing for my angels of Ab. so i used commando khaki instead, i dont know if it worked, but i liked the toned down bone look i got from it. just means lotsa layers!

I really like the slight conversions you have done on the defiler. The removal of the horns from his helemt and the placement of those hooks on his arms are both great, for instance.

Some fantastic looking work in this thread so far :)
I really like the source lighting on the Inquisitor; that's the old Lord Solar Macharius model isn;t it?

First off, happy birthday!:)

Second,! Awesome stuff, very unique and very inspiring. I love the green on the Angels of Absolution, very deep, and the Inquisitor conversion is just great. Your Chaos minis are stunning, love the Possessed sergeant!

Keep up the good work!

Wow- you have a total mastery of green in general. Very nice work- I like that you vary the severity of your highlighting to make the Imperial models look more "sharp."

The only thing I'm not so hot on is the Inquisitor's face. The source lighting is good, though.

You can resize the picture in any image editing software. Try Gimp, its free and has been getting better reviews than Photoshop. I actually prefer it to Photoshop, mainly because it does everything PS does, and its FREE!!!!!

You can download it from here:

Did I mention its free?

Wow thanx guys for all your comments.

AventineCrusader- Yeah, my style for chaos was to tone down on the ridiculous, focus more on the horror aspect, using fear like a true night lord.

Arhalien- Yup, solar his'self. Funny enough, the source lighting was an afterthought, and i actually ended up disliking it, as it kinda screwed up the face, but i had 1500 points of witchhunters to paint, no time.

hiveminion Hey thanx, yeah just turned 22. Kinda crazy, im heading to england in a days time, gunna go check out gw's birthplace, gunna visit the homeland (British by birth, Canadian by location). Yeah I actually spent the most time on the sarge, kinda the test model for the unit.

Savnock- Hey thanx, green is my fav. color. I actually came upon the chaos green by accident, camo green then drybrushed bleached bone mixed with camo. When i started the angels of absolution, I wanted a cleaner green, but something darker than the gw angels, so lotsa green ink washes:p Look for Ravenwing Very soon, all dark green to go with my variations on the theme.

selfconstrukt- thanx I'll check it out!

So Heres just a last bit before i head off for my flight, an eldar wraithlord Ive been working on, hope u guys like.

06-07-2007, 07:43
Wow- GREAT face on the Wraithlord's head! Combined with the strange backwards-leaning posture, it really gets that "Eldar undead" feeling out well. The runes in the "hair" tendrils are good too. Nice work.

Hope you're highlighting the shoulderpads as well?

06-07-2007, 07:46
Yeah im going for that 'green floating ghost holograph' look. So the shoulders will have floating glyphs. The hard part is going to be reproducing that look on my wraithguard squad.

06-07-2007, 10:37
Oh, wow :D
Brilliant, brilliant, work! There;s a fantastic, ethereal look to that Wraithlord and it works so well!
One thing; shouldn;t the shoulder pads be highlighted?

06-07-2007, 17:00
Yeah, they will be, thats the base green coat before i start the highlights, washes and glyphs.
