Um, hello. Hi. I hope no one has become too bored with AP systems yet. I think something like this was posted on Portent. You know, in the "before times".


I'll just cut to the chase.

Replace things like "AP 4" or "3+ armour save" with "Medium Penetration" and "Heavy Armour". Invulnerable saves stay the same. This gives marines a little save against thing like krak missiles or perhaps plasma (if you consider plasma having heavy penetration) but weakens them slightly against things like auto cannons and heavy bolters (which fit the medium penetration position).

Lasguns, shootas, autoguns, grot blastas etc. would have weak penatration.
Bolters, hellguns, shurkien catapults, pulse rifle = light
Heavy bolters, autocannons, assault cannons = medium
Krak missiles, reaper launchers, rokkit launchas, plasma? = heavy
Lascannon, meltagun, railgun = super

Ork armour, jungle fighter armour = weak armour (anything inconsequential)
Flak, Eldar guardian = light
Carapace, Tau firewarrior = Medium
Power Armour, Tau battlesuit = Heavy
Terminator*, Artificer, Tau Broadside = Super
*Terminator would still have its 5+ invulnerable

You may notice the chart jumps in the pattern. It is an attempt to counter saves being weakened too often by armour modifiers on every weapon but still allow weapons to puch through weaker points in armour. Actually, in retrospect, it seems to only apply to power armour and terminator armour.

Anyway, your opinions welcome. That's why I posted. Anyway, I'm going to bed.

Rolling to wound twice? Why not using the LOTR system, combine T and AS, that is.

Just a thought.
