Apologies for this if it's a noobish question. I am a newb after all.

I was wondering if their were specific units that can be taken as DOW, and where a list like that might be? I saw the army list, and I saw the little chart that tells what unit "types" different armies can take, but I am not sure I am understanding it. (http://us.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/gaming/dogsofwar/default.htm)

Specifically, I am interested in the fact that the chart at GW's website (http://us.games-workshop.com/download/download.htm?/games/warhammer) says that HoC can take "crossbowmen" as a rare. Does that mean any unit so armed? I am wondering if I can use a unit of Dark Elf Warriors with their repeating crossbows? That would go a long way towards rounding out my force.

Any guidance on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

You can take a Dogs of War unit from its own list or from Regiments of Renown, no DE Warriors or other such units. Hope that makes sense.

It refers to the unit entry in Dogs of War list called "crossbowmen", and not to any other units.

You can take Mingel Manhide's Manflayers(think thats right) if you want a good DE unit. They cost alot more but are basically shades with HA, GW, and all the weapons are poisoned.

You will find pdfs on this page linking to the Dogs of War army list and the Regiments of Renown. All the info you will need is there.

Note also that several units from the Ogre Kingdoms lists can be taken as Dogs of War.
