Nice one. Plastic Elves, Spiders, Plastic Easterlings... all sounds good.

Although it does say Spiders, Men and Elves for Fall of the Necromancer. Which men are these, Woodsmen of Mirkwood?

IIRC it should be the Beornings as otherwise the other men in the region may well be done in the movie

Men from Laketown are in the general area of Mirkwood. It could possibly be them, but most likely it is Easterlings and Black Numanorians.

I would think the Easterlings are more likely to be in the Easterling supplement.

What would either of those be doing in Mirkwood at that time?

I agree with Infernus, they've deliberately chosen to focus on an area that doesn't play any direct part in The Hobbit to avoid conflicting with an eventual movie as much as possible. Laketown and its army would certainly be covered in such a movie, and it's a long way from Dol Guldur and Southern Mirkwood anyway. Geographically the Woses would be closer.

They can't very well be Beornings either though, seeing as they're founded by Beorn some time later. So I'm not sure what they will be, or what side they'll be on. Generic "Men of the North" perhaps. I'm not sure Tolkien ever specifies what the armies of Dol Guldur are made up of, though Orcs seems a safe bet.

Do we have a firm date on when we can expect The Hobbit film? I have heard rumours of 2008 or 2009...

2008 and 9 are out of the running. i say 2010 is the best gate, though PJ is begining work on a new film due out in 2007. Which means Pre Production will if he does do it earliest 2008

We don't even know for sure if there's going to be a Hobbit movie at all. It's all just speculation and assumptions. Various comments by Peter Jackson and others suggest they plan on doing it, but for all those suggestions there is no hard, clear information. I'm hopeful but sceptical. One thing is for sure though, they're not in any hurry.
