I'm thinking seriously about starting a Daemonic Legion army and what I was thinking about was locating a unique model to represent my prince. I'm looking for a model that is decent size but will still fit on the correct base size. I would like a mulit-armed figure so nothing with hand weapons will do. Also winged would be good and if not I'll do a conversion and green stuff it to my liking. So the question is has anybody out there seen a nice mini that could represent the prince? Oh and if I wanted a GW mini (which are good as is) I would have just done that.

I had the same idea, mines gunna be converted-im going to use the wings of the possesed space marine with wings when it comes out(ill chop of the pack)
and most of it will be sculpted, hes gunna have a tail with small mase bits made from the orc chariot whip, hell be pretty muscular, have horns and hooves.ill use the chainmail from Be'lakor, and use similar armour on the thighs.

Well all daemon princes have wings(well they can fly at least...this is what sets them apart from the normal daemons).

Go to the games workshop site and have a look at the various dameon princes available on there.
Failing that try be'lakor as he's pretty snazzy.
If that doesnt work just look around for ogre sized models and then mix and match parts, some sort of wings will work(not dragon or balrog wings as they are rediculously oversized for ogre sized models).

As they are on a 40mm base any winged model that will fit(or you can make fit) on such a base is going to be legitimate.

Doesnt have to be massive either as daemon princes arent large targets,so you can make the thing mansized if you really want...although that would be a tad small.

I used the old (3rd/4th ed) greater demons as the basis for a couple and recently converted a Verminlord for a Prince with the Unliving Idol Gift. You could also start with a Chaos Troll or Dragon Ogre, wings and some putty...

Well which god is your daemon prince going to be associated with?

What I thought might be worth looking into were those Oni demons from the old Clan Wars miniature line. Can't seem to find them though.

Have you looked into forgeworld? they have some ace things (expensive at some times though) for conversions.

gotta agree with thommo... the confrontation stuff is awesome! pretty good quality too, even if the metal is a bit softer...

slightly off topic, but can you download the daeminic legion army list anywhere or is it is the storm of chaos book somewhere??

Cheers

When requiring a unique model, conversion is pretty much essential. Trawl the online store for bits and you'll be able to come up with something. The Inquisitor range can be handy for this sort of scale.

MindSlave the Daemonic Legions list is on page 27 of the Storm of Chaos book. Also if you have the Army Builder program it's there as well.

Athamas, what is Sophie?

Lost_Heretic
27-07-2007, 17:23
Sophie is Reaper Miniature's mascot of sorts.

There's quite a few versions of her, check the Dark Heaven range at www.reapermini.com

The deciever with an extra arm or two modeled onto him as well as wings of some sort perhaps?

Bortus
27-07-2007, 19:06
And what's the Deciever?

Merceus
27-07-2007, 19:26
The Deciever is the C'Tan from the Necron range... very good for conversions to do with Daemon Princes or Sanguinius... And I dont think Mark matters when it comes to Sophie... no-one could say no to her ;)

But yeah, those ones that were given at the start of the first page were great... I might just get that Tunneler guy for myself :D

Thanks From Shadows, been looking for that. Didnt think it was worth buying the SoC army book just for that.

Theres a number of good examples in the gallery section and in the pinned links at the www.thedaemoniclegion.com forum.

One of our member is experimenting with sculpting on commission as well.
