Hello Warseer! I thought I'd post a thread of my happenings and such.

At the moment I'm finishing up my 500 points of D-99 inspired Elysians, after which I will embark upon the horrible monolith of apocalypse in the form of a large mechanised guard army. I also have a mars pattern Warhound en route from Japan I just won off ebay so I'm going to have alot of crap to get through.

First up I'll post what I've done, please excuse my camera work, I suck.

The Elysian 12th Ranger Regiment

Elite even among the famous Elysian drop troops, the Rangers are a battle hardened light infantry unit designed to operate deep behind enemy lines without the close aerial support the regular drop troops enjoy.

Because of their deep ranging nature, Rangers rarely ride in the low altitude Valkaries, instead opting towards the large high altitude transport 'Albatross'. While this carries them above most enemy anti-aircraft fire, it means that the Rangers are forced to rely on themselves once on the ground, and must fight and hold out until relieved by advancing ground troops.

Lacking the usual Vulture support afforded to regular Elysian regiments, Ranger fireteams are extremely heavily armed and utilise high altitude deployed Tarantulas for perimeter defense. Apart from these the only other vehicles utilised by the Ranger Regiments are Sentinels.

Too much ghost recon infected me with a need to do a modern 'special forces' feel guard army. I realise Marines are special forces but the whole '8 foot tall swinging a chainsaw into somone's head' thing just didn't have the subtle, agile edge I wanted, hence...

anyway on with the show

A command unit; Ranger units do not follow the typical platoon organisation. Their use of HALO insertions means that typically units will be cut off from one another and each small group is designed to operate as an autonomous formation if needs dictate. Rangers are organised down to company. Beyond that the only formal designation is 'Fireteam'.

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x90/negrodamus_album/El3.jpg

http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x90/negrodamus_album/El4.jpg

Rangers typical are equiped with CQC equipment. Here we see the standard issue Mk 6 'Las Carbine'. The Mk 6 is a modification on the normal bullpup weapon used by Elysian regulars removing the handle and shortening the barrel for close quarter use.

Because of the Rangers elite status, advanced sights are common place.

Three more troopers and one more Sentinel and I shall be through with this project. I must admit, Elysians aren't the funnest things to paint. The ridiculously high amount of detail and folds in the clothes make them very different to Cadians.

After I'm done here I'll be moving onto the mechanised troops. The idea is to combine West Wind American Sci Fi gas mask heads with Cadian bodies into a sortve "Mechanised Krieg" (ie mass amounts of APCs being blown up in attrition war advances) theme, I'm still unsure what to call them.

I'll also be working on the warhound, I'm thinking Legio Destructor considering how eccentric they are, but am unsure of the color scheme.

A little fluff for the upcoming mech guard. I've decided to go for one of the Teutonian Regiments listed in the first imperial armour book as they sound like a fitting colony world of Krieg.

Many have compared the tactics of the Teutonian Shock Korps to that of the soldiers of Krieg. While the initial stages of a Teutonian campaign are similar to that of their parent world (a mass of men and machines advancing to a point and deeply entrenching directly opposite their enemies), the subsequent actions are radically different.

To face the Teutonic forces is to face both a highly disciplined fighting force with a die hard attitude and disregard for personal, as well as logistical leviathan capable of turning out legions of tanks, artillery and ammunition.

For as the Teutonic soldiers are sinking their ETs into damp mud, far behind them massive work details are establishing huge tanks factories, ammunition depots, strip mines, and all the required systems to fuel a war of attrition.

The capacity for this stems from Teutonia's close allegiance with the Forge World of Ryza. Within each Teutonic division is a large amount of Tech priest, servitors and Adeptus Mechanicus advisors, all tasked with the mass production of approved STC artifacts.

Where warriors of Krieg disdain the mass use of APCs and tanks, the Teutonians, more than any other regiment, see them as little more than cheap disposable tools. If enough are employed, every strong point will break under the sheer weight of imperial steel.

its a simple process.

take 5 parts baking soda, 1 part water, 1 part PVA, 1 part MiG Acrylic resin, mix it all up into a 'paste' then dab on the model with a paint brush.

Beats the crap out of the GW 'snow'

Lew_b81

I use a base coat of Fenris gray, then highlight Vallejo 'Luftwaffe uniform' up to white in about three sucessive coats. Then I put a 15/1 chaos black wash over the whole thing, blog on some random patches of luftwaffe uniform, punctuate it with smaller black dots and fill them in with Vallejo white :)

Looking great Negrodamus, really smick. I think some ppl get lost in the size of the titan models and forget to put the same care and detail into them as a normal 28mm troop, you're not one of them. The purity seals set off the archaic nature of the armour perfectly.

On the bases issue, i went to Spotlight, they had 3mm/30cm mdf circles that were perfect in the section where you buy place mats.

Well done and keep it up.

Thanks!

I use Tamiya RAF Dark green for the base coat.

The colors are loosely based on the warlord Titan from Epic 40.000. I'm calling it Legio Destructor because those guys are just so nuts.

LENSE TUT

Undercoat the prospective item with a 25/75 mix of chaos black/red gore.

After that has dried fill in the 75 % (I like doing the lower right hand side area) with pure red gore.

After then fill in 75% of that with a mix of 50/50 red gore/blazing orange.

75 % of that Blazing orange.

75% of that blazing orange/skull white. by now you should be nearly on the edge and your colors very thing.

Fill in the last little smidgin with pure skull white then add a dot opposite that in the dark red portion of the lense

With regard to the interior, I'll back you all the way on leaving it unpainted, I have yet to paint an interior in any of my ten or so SM tanks, and what's in there is nice. Of course on a titan I'm not sure I could resist going to town on the princeps and his moderati, those guys are beautiful. Perhaps some kind of magnets in the roof to let you lift it off?

I agree with you, while interiors do look good painted up, unless your doing a cut away tank (wally), you may as well not bother. (I stupidly built an interior for my chimera and then went "wtf i'm not going to see it" and simply glued the doors shut)

Well decision is made -

I'll be ordering two batteries of 2 Nebelwerfers er Quad launchers and most likely a Macharius. I realise the insanity of buying the malc now considering the baneblade is nearly out but I see it like this:

The Macharius reflects the whole mass production theme alot better considering how rudimentry the design is in both aesthetics and fluff.

The Baneblade just isn't tickling my fancy, in terms of looks

Lew_b81

Have to disagree with the Quad Launchers though. I much prefer the look of the Heavy Mortars.

I also wanted to ask what colors you used for your elysians, would you mind listing them? I want to paint my grenadiers in similar colors for their camo and armour. Thanks.

I undercoated with Tamiya "RAF Dark Green" the grey piping is Vallejo German Gray.

as for the elysian colors -

For cams start off with a basecoat of fenris gray. Then dry brush Vallejo Luftwaffe uniform. After thats dried add some white to the lufftwaffe and dry brush again. Continue this process until you are nearly white (very light gray)

Then take a 50/50 mix of chaos black and black ink. Water it down until theres only one part paint 12 parts water.

Dab that on and monitor how it flows, dont let it dry on the raised surfaces or it buggers the whole thing up

after thats done blob on some patches of lufftwaffe grey ang let them dry. Puntuate these with small dots of black and then fill in the middle of these with white

presto instant urban cams

The armor is painted in the same way as classic cadians with a basecoat of orkhide green and highlights of catachan green then camo green + catachan. Finally I give these a very thing black wash.

wonderful! I love this Titan!!! :) maybe u could attach a banner between the legs?
would fit perfectly

Nah, I think the reverence of the armor is good enough as is. Its a titan from Legio Destructor, Aka "Big Death". From what I've red they are abunch of fricking nutjobs who have had wayyy too much experience fighting orks and have become warped.

I am thinking of attaching Obidiah Schaffer's Boombox to the head, as they are supposed to mount big megaphones and shout "BIG DEATH BIG DEATH BIG DEATH".

Reference the Buffalo, love the trimed down flotation tanks, but as a gaming item, how you going to play it? Without the turret, firepower is limited. Modelling wise tho, its awesome!

yeah, i guess what i'm saying is, i like the 'chimera' i think if i do use it to play ever, i'd say clas the H stubber as HB. and if peoplee don't want to, you don't want to play with those kinds of people.

okay thats creepy.

Anyway I wanted the Chim to be more APC less IFV, even if its insane considering the points cost. I want to use them to close with the enemy, not sit in a static gunline and blast.

Damit, you beat my too it! I'm building the exact same demolisher, but with the forgeworld DK engine bits at the back and scratch made trench rails.

I really like your kill markings, DK transfer sheet I notice. I've got an old decal sheet from an F-4 phantom thats got some nice Decals on it i'm going to use.

Your suspension is nice too. I'm steering away from it because i'm going to add exesive mud to the side of my russes, I've just brought some MIG resin and mud pigments so i'll give that ago soon.

Keep up the good work!

Spanks :) as you know I've used MiG pigment mud previously, but I decided to be minimalistic this time round and went with a 'less is more' approach, sticking to tamiya weathering kits.

The Krieg demolisher is just tops imo, I hate the GW stock one, but this one has a real '****off' feel to the maingun.

Krieg barrels in general just seem more realistically proportioned.

Nice Demolisher there.

I like the subtle grey you've managed to achieve and the weathering not being too overboard. The turret and the crewman are pretty sweet too.
