Hi all,
I just wanted to let anyone interested know that there is a new war gaming club open in Leuchars, Fife.
The club is held in The Meeting Place at RAF Leuchars.
You can find R.A.F. Leuchars on the map and you can get directions on AA route planner.
It is the white building with the cash machine to the left of the main guard room at RAF Leuchars.
There is also car parking located right outside.
We are open to all game systems (including non GW stuff) all ages welcome (under 12's must be accompanied by an adult at all times)
Opening times are 18:30 to 23:30 on Monday nights
We will have between 3 and 4 tables with a verity of different scenery.
Everyone is welcome to come down and play whatever they want as long as they have fun!
Subs are 1

If any one wants to know any more info about it you can PM me or mail the_gaming_kingdom@yahoo.co.uk

16/12/2007 Sunday 12:00 on-wards 750 Point Force Recon Tournament. Entry 6.00
The 750 Point force recon tournament will consist of 4 missions, the first of which will be the Combat Patrol Scenario as found on P183 of the BGB. All restrictions for choosing a Combat Patrol can be found on P182 of the BGB (just change the points limit from 400 to 750 ;).Kris), any questions then Post it, PM or ask myself, Kris or Graham at the club. To start with this will be open to club members first and as of 13/11/2007 anyone else will be able to come along, At the moment I have a provitional number of spaces set at 16 but this may be increased depending on demand and space?

We are now actively taking orders and money for the next club order.
Depending upon intrest we will be placing the order in early Feb.
If you have not paid either myself, Jono, Fitz, Graham or Paul by this time your stuff will be carried over on to the next order we do and you will miss out.

Howdy folks I to am helping to get this club off the ground.

Just to add a bit more info for the first few weeks we're aiming to have 3 4'x4' tables with 2 using generic Fantasy terain such as tree's, hills etc. (some very nice work done by Kris but don't tell him that, lol) with the third being a 40K table with crashed Aquila, CoD buidings etc.

Obviously being open for 5 hours means we can play a variety of games and depending of the numbers it may be possible to combine tables to have larger games on larger tables.

Again feel free to use the e-mail above which I to have access to or send me a PM

Jono:)

Well we had our first night and all went well.
As in people turned up and played some games/built some stuff/chatted.
Have had a busy week in work but we will have increased the size of two of the tables to 6*4 and finished a 4*4 40K table and should have some bloodbowl/ necromunda stuff in. We have loads of terrain (thanks Baz) now so that wont be a problem and we may even have a tuck shop running.
Can't wait for mondays to come round now games agains new people are always fun.

Indeed, Monday was great and it is looking like this club will be a god send to players around Dundee and Fife, certainly because of the some what lapse gaming facilities available to us, save for the local GW.

Not to mention the various events and things that are in discussion for the future, it certainly would fill a niche with regards to Scottish Tournaments and events.

Though the crappy name still remains :(

I went for the first time and I can tell you - sweet and here I will list the benefits -

there is loads of room -

unlike in store where you have to have your case tucked under the tables and invoke your powers of levitation to have your rule books etc hovering off the table so they do not get in the way of the game - pull up a spare chair and sit your stuff on it - its off the table - out the way of everyone else and still easy to get access to -

sick fed up with having huge piles of dead on the table corners? set your case and trays up beside you on a spare chair - as it dies then put it away - this does result in quicker games and by the end you have tidied up much quicker and someone else can get onto the table easily

Did I mention helpful people - a great range of scenery and the opportunity to ply different systems??

Hey guys, nice to hear you're getting a new club in Scotland off the ground. I'm a member of the Edinburgh League of Gamers and just thought I'd say Hi, we're coming up for a year old now our first AGM is tommorrow.

We have run some cross club tournaments/gaming days (A club in dunfermline who's name escapes me and the Stirling Wargamers) this past year so when you guys are up on your feet and maybe fancy a day down here in Edinburgh I'm sure your members would be more than welcome to join in too(I think it's 18+, but could be wrong, as we're in a licenced venue).

I'll keep an eye out for any cross club events and if you guys are up for it we'll see about getting some of you down.

Good Luck

Much appreciated guys

At GD we checked with Laurie about our registration and we should be approved very soon, especially now the online voting has been implemented:)

Until we get the CRB checks we are 18+ at the moment as well and get about a dozen peple or so per week, not to bad when you consider quite a few guys are on alternating days/nights in the RAF. At the moment we have about 20 members including myself (Secretary), Kris (Chairman) and Fitz (Treasurer) so some sort of event cross club sounds like a good idea for the future:)

DWARF, Dunfermline wargaming and roleplaying federation is the Dunfermline one.

I think we'd be up for some cross club events, can't see any reason why we wouldn't anyway... :p

Am I right in saying ELG is mostly WHFB players, or has Thomas just given me the wrong impression? ;) And have you got your forum sorted out yet?

At the moment there is talk of a 40k tournament planned for sometime in November. (Though its still largely in the development stage and I think i'd best leave advertising it until more details are known.)

CaptainSenioris
25-09-2007, 23:06
Glad to hear you're up for cross club events.

Thomas gave an impression:eek: Nah there is a good mix of 40k, fantasy and specialist games inc A.I. there is also a fair few warmachine and hordes players too. I've also seen some very random games get played like WWE card games and Doctor WHo??:wtf:

When it comes to specialist games it's always best to try and organise a game in advance as the epic/gothic/bb player's don't always bring their stuff.

I think I heard about a 40k tournament soon so I wil check about that tomorrow, I think I'm gonna end up with a comitee position which would be nice.:)

Our forums so far is a yahoo space but it really just gets used for Andy posting info and stuff.

Xavier
25-09-2007, 23:14
I think we are pretty much the same, anything can be played assuming you can find an opponent, a few of our number play hordes and war machine, and a few even mentioned flames of war...

Was speaking to him at Games Day, and by speaking... I mean, we traded the usual banter... So he probably wants to kill me now, his record at the past few tournaments and not getting on the top tables seems to be a sore point for him. Hehe.

There is a Stirling 40k Tournament sometime in October, I want to say the 23rd... but I'm probably wrong, called 'rapid fire'.

Your forums have been a yahoo page for a while... I remember back at the Dunfermline tournament you lot were talking about getting one set up before your own fantasy tournament. :(

Then again, at least you have a website... and a semi decent club name... Unlike certain... Leuchars based ones I can think of... :p

Edit: I use far too many emoticons.

Edit #2: Kris sucks... :p

kris.sherriff
25-09-2007, 23:20
Thought I should stick my ore in while this thread is back from the dead. (get in)
As has been said I was chatting with he GCN at GD and we are approved as a GCN member club and should have had our info stuff sent out and I just haven't received it yet so after I am back in work and have confirmed it hasn't arrived I will try to get a new one sent out to us.
As Xavier said we are looking to run a 40K torni at some point early November and I am hoping to run some sort of charity event before Christmas.
Once we have all our GCN sorted our we will be setting up our own website so more info will be give then.

I take it your name is 'The Gaming Kingdom'? Kind of a play on 'Kingdom of Fife' is it?

As much as I love 40k tournaments there is a particular person at Sterling wargamers who's path I have crossed at tournies one too many times, not that defeat is bitter just that he acts the nice guy to your face and then turns into a jerk when your back is turned, so I'm likely to be hesitant about going to that one...

The various Logs on here seem to turn into banter amongst club members, Catferret's was rife with it for ages, still is.

A forum would be nice for inter club communication hadn't heard of our club's plan's for that but that would be commitee talk.

Xavier
25-09-2007, 23:46
Yup...

And I know what you mean, without going into specifics there are several people I know, both around here (Dundee), and at other clubs, who share the same lack of tact, though luckily it isn't really that predominant for the most part and it is normally best to weather such speak, because it is rather pathetic :p

Indeed, a number of clubs have taken to using 'the warhammer forum' for organising such things and up until the start of this year there was a mailing list of sorts, though that died out when the Aberdeen guy who was in charge of it moved to the states...

kris.sherriff
25-09-2007, 23:52

Just to be clear
We do the CRB checks after you've been accepted as a GCN registered club as you need a full extended Disclosure (and unfortunately you need seperate one's for different organisations even if there the same level)

I think remember Laurie talking about you, IT was a good day with a number of clubs registering and even more getting "how to start a club packs"

Hope to see your table at GD next year

I would like to see you open the club up one day for a "BitzBox Swap" get rid of some of the things we have and will never use and give others the opportunity to off load stuff as well and also pick up new bits they could maybe use "one man's junk is another's treasure" and all - could be fairly chaotic -

also remember there are a couple of events in the kirremuir region around now Targe and Skelp if memory serves me right around first sat in november i think - maybe worth while sending someone up as a contact to both if they are still on

Darrel, if you mean the one I (Andy) mentioned, the 1500 point one, not our one, then it's in Stirling, though I'm not too sure about ticket availability... I'll check and let you know tonight. I'm slightly waterlogged from polo, and waiting on my 'taxi' to get back from Uni...

Assuming I'm getting one, my CRB check might be slow, since my deed poll has yet to be returned, though by the time that rolls round it should have...

Although Kris doesn't know it yet he will be discussing the clubs status and our progress with GCN, insurance and other exciting topics:)

In regards to the army carry cases if we can place orders of 8 cases at a time we can get a reduced shipping rate which should bring each case down to about 40

The deadline for the upcoming order is today, monday as in 12/11/2007 (11/12/2007 if you are an american and for some reason are looking at this page and thinking thats there is ages left)
If you want something on this order Jono nees to have the money before tuesday as this is when the order is being placed.
The next order will be in January the deadline date to be confirmed but the 15th of Jan sounds good for now.

**********UPDATE***********

Tournament postponed until January 2008

Unfortunatly due to circumstances we will not be able to run the Tournament on the scheduled date. With Kris and Fitz still on Detachment and myself moving flat there simply will not be time to complete all the relevant scenery required. This also allows a number of members to attend once returning from the Xmas break

Update for those interested in the Force Recon tournament. Tickets are on sale either through myself, Baz or Sam at GW Dundee and are priced at 6. I know have the tournament pack available, if you're interested in coming along then let me know and i'll send you a copy.

Tournament will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places as well as best painted Patrol Force. Tournament winner also gets a very shiny Trophy to keep:)

As of now I will edit this post with those have paid, if you are intrested then let me know so i can reserve a space as we only have 16 places.

Paid:

Jono, it might be an idea to put a thread in the tournaments section of Warseer, and perhaps visit a few of the other Scottish club forums and let them know of it. I'd already have done so, but I'm not very clear on how many you are expecting from within our own club, who rightly should get first chance.

Would also like to clarify that the tournament will now consist of 4 missions with the 3 listed by Kris in Post 1 plus the fourth which will be decided by the players using Strategy ratings. Please check Post 70 for further updates on the tournament.

cheers

The next campaign run by the club will be Gorkamorka.

you can get the rules here
Gorkamorka (http://www.specialist-games.com/veriants.asp)

Grab your trukks, get da boyz, an' prepare ta Krump da uvver mobz good!

I will have some spare trukks and boyz if anyone wants to proxy up a mob to see if they like it.

Since the Digganob supplement isn't available to download, we'll not be using any of the mobs from that book, so no mutie raiders, rebel grots, or diggas.

Any questions, PM me and I'll try to sort it out.

Hi all, Just an update for you.
Due to the immense failure of both our attempted 40K and WHFB tournaments and the non starting of the Gorkamorka Campaign I am going to take the bull by the horns and actually get some proper events going.

Have a couple of things in the pipeline but until things are actually confirmed I wont spill to many beans.

The good people at GWonline (http://www.gwonline.biz/) have added a club page to there forum for us and I am planning to place a club order at the end of May.

I am sure you all know about the discounts we can get so I wont preach to the converted but after the success of the first order it is about time we did a second.

Link for the club order:

Oh I also forgot to add that the club would be paying all postage costs for any orders from now on, so the price you see is the price you pay, no extras.

Just a quick update to say that for those of you interested Sam has expressed an interest in starting a Blood Bowl League, if you fancy taking part either let Sam know at the club or put up a reply here.

On other notes:

-we know have our insurance in place so are fine for anyone over the age of 12 to come along.
-a frenzy of terrain making is curently taking place over the next few weeks, new tables and scenery on the way. If you fancy painting some scenery let us know and that way you don't have to pay the week you bring along the painted scenery piece

Hi all,

Sooooo,
The Club has had its first AGM and I am glad to say came through the other side with no big problems arising.

A copy of the minutes will be made available once Jono has typed them up but if any one has any questions about what happened just ask.

I am glad to say that the motion for a regular weekend opening was passed and that I have already paid for the first 3 months.
So the club will now be open on the 13th of July, the 10 of August and the 14th of September from 14:00 till late. The price will remain at 1 so come along and have a game, paint your armies and have a blether.

Obviously the 14th of sep is gamesday weekend so if necessary I will reschedule it but I am sure it will be fine, gives all us losers who can't get to gamesday something to do ;).

As the more astute of you will have gathered the bookings are the second Sunday of every month, this pattern will continue and dependant upon its success a second booking per month may be added.

Hi all,
Well, we finally have some news to post...
We have our own website now!
Check it out at:
www.thegamingkingdom.org.uk
It is a bit basic at the moment but expect more content soon and from now on this is where all info will be posted. I will keep this thread updated for a couple of weeks just to make sure everyone who comes here gets the news but then this thread will die.
