Hey guys,
been looking over some of the tau tactics and i see the the phrase fire knife being thrown about with regards to crisis suit loadouts. What equipment is on your typical fireknife cause i can't see it outlined anywhere.

Plus any other tau type tips would be real helpful. Not long started the army and i've not really refined my tactics yet

A fireknife is an XV8 battlesuit with multi-tracker, missile pod and plasma rifle.

Supposedly the best all-rounder of the different configurations

ah, many thanks. As it happens thats what my battle suits are armed with. Just hadn't heard it called that.

I myself prefer the helios or firestorm, as they provide the specialisation that I want.

Look here (http://www.advancedtautactica.com/academy/MTT/CrisisConfigs.html) for more XV8 configs

Well, the benefits of it are that it has the two longest-ranged weapons a Crisis suit can have and it has high Strength, low AP weapons with a relatively high rate of fire. The link that Cirenivel provided is great and give loads of information.

yeah, I'm one of those who really hates the designation names people give to there crisis suits, it makes it harder on those (like me) who prefer to know what the hell people are on about.

but yes a XV8 battlesuit with multi-tracker, missile pod and plasma rifle is the best combo I find, for pretty much everything, even your HQ (but I expand that to XV8 battlesuit with Hard wired multi-tracker, missile pod and plasma rifle and shield generator)

Well, for HQ, I find that a Shas'el with CIB, plasma rifle, targeting array and HW multi-tracker works wonders against everything except big tanks.

I think the question is answered. From now on, the rest should be discussed in 40k tactics.
