Welcome to my first army log! I recently sold my force of Cadian Shock Troopers in order to finance a more unique Imperial Guard Regiment. I am in the process of assembling and painting the 17th Light Dragoons, a combined arms force hailing from the planet of Shetland. It is my intent to create a force that the Emperor himself will be proud to call his own!

This army will consist of the following forces: a light infantry company, a heavy infantry platoon (carapace armor troopers mounted in chimeras), two heavy tank platoons, one light tank platoon, an artillery battery, and a special operations detachment. Subsequent posts will lay out the task organization of each of these formations in more detail. Below is a picture to preview what the regiment will look like.

Troops from the light infantry company are on the left; they are backed up by my first vehicle from the heavy tank platoon. Special operations troopers are on the right; they are backed up by my first vehicle artillery piece.

I am anxious to receive comments on this army. Starting an army log and receiving constructive feedback was the primary reason I joined Warseer. Thanks!

++This is a distress call.....out there? I repeat, is anyone out there? ... ….Draconis Extremis is gone. Help us! Please, for the Throne of Terra ........traitor Astartes......... fleet destroyed...........they're coming!. ++ Transmission ends++

Fragmented distress call from the Draconii system, sent shortly after the outbreak of the Horus Heresy. Due to warp-turbulence engulfing the galaxy at that time, the message did not reach its intended destination until 44 years after Horus' defeat

“They arrived without warning. Throne alone knew how they got through the storms, but there they were, a whole fleet of them. Scared our augury serfs half to death when they translated, but we were glad to see them. Those bloody storms meant we hadn't heard anything from anyone for nigh half a year and suddenly a whole damned fleet of Space Marines appear from nowhere. It's the stuff of stories.

We let them come, even powered down our defences for them so they could dock. Well why wouldn't we? They were humanities greatest champions, our sword in the darkness of Old Night, you know, all that gak that the Remembrancers like to come up with. I was up in the tower, watching them on the scanners. One of my lads reckoned they were the Emperors Children. Another said they were Sons of Horus. He'd seen them in the news-picts, he said. The Warmasters own. Turned out that they were both right. Two legions of the Emperors finest and we were just sitting there dumbfounded. They didn't announce themselves, so I opened a vox-link, welcoming our glorious guests to our little corner of the galaxy.

They didn't reply. They just opened fire....”

Watch-officer Herlan Marvitz, survivor of the destruction of Draconii Extremis long range monitoring station. Found inside an escape pod drifting in deep space by the Imperial cruiser Alonsarr.

Pict-Capture of the translation of the Warmasters fleet from the Warp, recovered from the cogitator banks of the destroyed Draconii Extremis facility. Of particular note is the Glorianna-class Battleship, identified by Imperial Records as the Wolf of Cthonia and the unknown vessel of indeterminate class (second from left). Such a concentration of vessels indicates the a sizable presence from the XVIth Legion. This, alongside eyewitness accounts of III Legion vessels, suggests a large scale mobilization of rebel forces into the sector.

This image was suppressed by the Inquisition post-heresy, save from their own Ordos archives

Ok - I figure it's about time I started a plog for some of my armies in a vague attempt to keep motivated and maybe actually see some armies get painted. As far as Imperial armies go, I have somewhere in the region of 3k of Space Wolves that need paint, however the reason I've started this log is that a few days ago I finally succumbed to one of the crazy ideas that's been wandering around in my head for a while and have begun an Imperial Guard army.

But TUD I hear you cry....What's so crazy about that? Well, for one thing this will be my fourth attempt at a guard army (Catachan, Cadian and Krieg armies have all failed to get very far in the past). The thing I hope will stop this army achieving a similar fate is where the real fun comes in....it's a totally converted unique regiment of my own design. The concept is a regiment based from a feudal world - so very medieval in feel. I'll be combining brettonian fantasy parts with the current cadian range to make the infantry and adding lots of shields and pennants etc to the tanks.

Anyway, enough waffle from me....time for pictures of my first squad:

The first guardsman I made:

Soon followed by his buddies:

And finally the regimental priest: Father Dumas

And a group shot:

In the next few days I plan to pick up a heavy weapons team box and add in the last two troopers - and maybe work on a command squad. And we'll have to see about some paint for these guys.....

(apologies for picture quality btw, all I have is my smartphone)

Hey everyone,

After my rather long period of inactivity with 40k, i've decided to end that and start another army to get me out of my funk. Hopefully ill start playing a bit more 6th ed.

I started reading the Gaunts Ghosts novels a month or two ago and fell in love with them, hence why i decided to do this army.

*Please note*

I've only read the first 6 books(straight silver) so please do not post any spoilers. I know characters will die and new ones will come in and ill adjust my army accordingly. Certain characters, like Bragg, will be in the army and i'm sure a few more will remain in my army even if they aren't in the books.

I ended up finding all 10 of the original Ghosts on ebay for about $60, which to be honest is a good deal. I know GW sells the named 6 for $30 but people are asking crazy amounts for the other 4 troops. I see the female model on ebay for $50 just for her!

[/URL]

Here's the assembled models.

Larkin's a bit hidden behind Corbec. Gaunt is fully cleaned but i ran out of small brass wire to pin him to the base.

I think these are AWESOME models with lots of character. Ill be using everything as they are, basically Milo as a stardard, Dorden as a medic, Corbec as my commander, etc.

I also won on Ebay, 10 of the Last Chancer models for $15! Although ill only be using Ox(for bragg), rocket girl(as...a rocket girl), and scope. The rest will go in the bits bag for later use.

Ill be adding camo cloaks to them all eventually. I also had to strip them so they look a bit dirty. The most conversion work will be done on bragg. I filed off his weird looking hat for now. Ill be sculpting green stuff hair to make him look more Tanith, otherwise i love the model and feel like he's a better representation of Bragg than the Harker model.

Now the fun stuff!

I wanted to do this army because of Victoria Lambs miniatures. She makes amazing models and bits and when i saw her border world rangers, i knew i had to make them Tanith. They are pretty much exactly how i imagined them.

http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.c...e-10-man-squad

So I ended dropping a lot of money on these guys as they arent cheap, especially considering its a guard army!

A knock on my door today left me with this!

The box itself was pretty heavy and it cost $47.50 to ship from Australia! But VL ships almost everything for free. Another perk of buying from her!

Then after a few minutes of organizing!

All in all i got:
70 Border World Rangers
10 extra camo cloaks
10 extra bare arms
5 Shotguns(just to see how they look)
6 resin kneeling legs
5 extra torsos

Of course, i couldnt wait to put one together!

The quality of the models are amazing. Her attention to detail is flawless and has very minimal flash. I only have 2 complaints though.

1). I know they are 30mm but they are big. I thought it was from the legs, no. Its from the torso, they are kinda large.

2). I think she made all her parts individually, not as complete kits. This is great because you can customize units and make tons of different options but the downside is that you made have to work a bit to get the different pieces to fit properly, but its not that big of a deal.

Here's a scale shot with the normal Tanith models. Vic's model is a bit bigger but not that noticeable at all. I think he blends in well with the Gw models!

Im really excited about this project and over the next couple days ill be assembling more and more of them and update this quite frequently. I have a few ebay purchases im waiting on to add to the army as well.

With these models I have about 1k points of light infantry that ill be making into a list. Ill post that once i finally have the right one.

Let me know what you think!

Here ive used my airbrush given it a base of vallejo model air steel and then some ak interactive chipping fluid and then some model air black and attacked it with a tooth brush. There is some crackling effect on it which im not too sure about. I am alittle inpatient and believe you should really have waited for it to dry properly before putting the black on it. Also putting it through the airbrush it comes out quite blotchy and not as smooth as i would of liked. I need a new airbrush compressor as mine is dying and ive managed to break the moisture trap :S

Id also given it a wash of dark tone army painter ink watered down to try bring some black back and tone down the silver colour
Here is a tank after the weathering bit before the varnish. Bit more shine to it. Again probably should of waited abit more before the drying of the chipping medium

Hello there,

Two years ago I started building a cardboard titan out of boredom. You know how it goes... exams are coming and you find yourself wanting to do anything but study, so you watch endless youtube video's or start outrageous projects that'll never go anywhere.

Except this time the result wasn't half bad. Looking at it now, I kind of like what I started back then, so I'm going to try to do it justice now.

I'm not working from templates or anything, and I'm too lazy to think or plan things trough so there might be a rough edge here and there.

So here is what I pulled from the cabinet:

And the first big problem started showing: the legs were not strong enough to hold the front-heavy torso, let alone hold the torso with a pair of weapons.
He didn't fell over or anything, but he was leaning forward rather comically.

So the first order of business is to deconstruct the legs carefully and strengthen all the joints, so both his legs are more rigid and can take the weight.
I think I'll play it safe and stick a rod up his rear porthole to make sure he'll keep standing.

More tomorrow.

Hello all, having lurked around on this forum for a while watching others toiling away on various projects I thought I should probably post some of the stuff that I am currently/previously been working on.

Firstly Grey Knights, using the classic metal miniatures purchased many years ago (although not enough years to be the classic classic grey knights!) For the armour I am undercoating with black, then boltgun metal, then wash with badab black, then boltgun metal then highlight with mithril silver. This although arduous is quite effective I feel. The purity seals are crimson gore, badab black, crimson core, and then blood red. Gold is burnished gold, brown wash, burnishd gold, shining gold.

Hi, guys !

After a long 40k break, mainly due to commission work and painting on my Infinity and Dust Tactics armies, I'm back with a new project.
And with my IG love, it's not a surprise : it's an IG army.

As I have 2 other IG armies on the workbench (a drop troops and an all infantry), I've decided to go with an armoured regiment, essentially based upon mech vets and tank support.
Some may remember a test model I made a long time ago, posted in the Footsoldier IG thread, and after some rework on it, I think I've found a cool design.

So let me introduce you the 33th Konig Armoured Regiment !
There is little fluff on Konig, but for what I've found, it's a world with a strong military tradition, back to the days of Macharius, and specialized in mechanized warfare. And for the FW fans, the most famous characters of Konig is general Maximilian Weisemann and his baneblade Arethusa.

So this little bit of fluff fits perfectly with the panzergrenadier theme I want to go with, but I'm not fond of the FW grey scheme. So I've decided to go with a more germanic look on the tanks, and a urban warfare theme.

But enough of speakings, here are the pics.

- first soldiers, with a sergent and regular grunt :

- and the WIP of my LR Executioner (I love this tank, and there are lots of MEQ armies in my regular gaming group). Still lots of things to do on it, but it's on a good way :

And last is a little (very little ! ^^) group shot :

As always, suggestions and C&C welcome !

Hi all,

Hi all,

Well I've decided to close my marine thread for a bit as I'll be concentrating on painting Heresy stuff for the foreseable future and thought it'd be an idea to have a single log dedicated purely to that.

So, what's coming up?

Well I'm planning on attending the HH Betrayal campaign weekend at Warhammer World at the end of August and for that I require a 3000 point force along with some smaller lists for some of the other games, right now I've built my lists and have a bit of a plan for what needs to be done. As part of the weekend the 3000 point game is actually a doubles game (6000 in total) so I'll actually be painting the best part of 4000 points of World Eaters(WE) as the lad who I'm going with actually owns the previous WE army I painted and it needs a bit of fleshing out to make up the remainder of the points.

Stuff that that I have planned so far;

Preator
Legion Champion

Contemptor Dreadnought Talon (2)
Rampager Squad (8) including Land Raider Phobos
Destroyer Squad (10) with Jump Packs

2x 20 Man tactical Squads

Heavy Weapons Squad (8) Autocannons
Spartan Assault Tank
Typon Heavy Siege Tank

Along with this there will be a Mechanicum Cohort, some more Heavy Weapons guys and potientially a Fellblade :D

I'm also doing some Sons of Horus as part of my ongoing commission work so I'll start the log with a few pics of some of the stuff I've done for them;

Most recently finished;

And the Justerian that were finished just before this;

So that's it for now, keep an eye out for hopefully constant updates, next up will be Abaddon followed shortly afterwards by Loken.

Thanks for looking.

Greetings fellow soldiers of the Imperium!

I recently came across my Valhallan army that I painted up back in the days of 4th edition. I was reading the Ciaphas Cain books at the time and decided to model my army after his regiment. They were a bit of a rush job as I wanted to get them ready for a tournament. They look quite good as a group though. It was a fun army to play although not very competetive from what I remember.

Anyhow I'll post some more pics when I've managed to sort out the photos. For now, here is Cain himself inspiring his troops.

A Sanctioned Psyker who sometimes carried a force weapon to try and kill enemy characters. Occasionally it worked.. Ah, the nostalgia. :D
One of my infantry squads. The sergeant was an Escher juve from necromunda who got a green stuffed greatcoat.
