Hello all! A little background on me. I've been playing tabletop stuff for over 12 years now. I had a Cadian and Daemon Hunters army previously, right around the time of the Eye of Terror. My Cadians are long gone, and the Daemonhunters in a state of much disrepair, scattered amongst the various boxes in my game room. A few years ago my brother and I purchased the beginnings of new armies, Death Korps for me and Traitor Guard for him. We did a little work but moved on to other things in short time. To make a long story slightly shorter, I started reading the Horus Heresy novels and was blown away. My brother and I have been fully drawn back into 40k, along with Forgeworlds Horus Heresy. This log will chronicle my attempt to stay focused and get finished my Sons of Horus, Death Korps, unassembled Warhound Titan, and whatever else finds its way into my collection. In all my years of hobbying I've never done a plog! So bare with me while I get started, this will be done entirely from my iPhone. Any comments, constructive criticism (both on models and photos/format), requests for additional pics, and of course, subtle ego stroking, is welcome and hoped for. Without further ado (because really, I'm sure you're all ready for pics by now) here we go...

My first two Death Riders out of 5. One has been done for over a year, finished the other guy last week.

Hello fellow ploggers and lurkers,

Although most of my concentration is devoted to working on my Grey Knights and continuing my Ultramarines repaint, I couldn't help myself and picked up a small Tau force (750pts).

While I won't be actually painting them until I finish off my 1500pts of Grey Knights, I did want to get my color scheme set for the Tau.

COLOR SCHEME:

Under: Chaos Black
Armor Base: Mephiston Red
Armor Layer: Wazdakka Red
Armor Highlight: Wild Rider Red
Fatigues/Unarmored Base: Codex Grey
Fatigues/Unarmored Layer/Highlight: Fortress Grey
Sept Color: Skull White/Ceramite White
Accent Color: Enchanted Blue
Wash: Badab Black

Bases are the 'Urban Streets' line from Secret Weapon Miniatures. Great product from a great company :)

Thoughts on the scheme?

THE XYPHON SECTOR

Perhaps most remarkable for being unremarkable, the Xyphon Sector is one amongst many of thousands of Imperial sectors. Located to the galactic east, it is a mid range value sector, the type of which is the bedrock of the Imperium. It has it's threats and dangers, but areas of it are relatively calm. Some of the population live in paradise, whilst others know nothing but war.
However, in these dark days, even these relative mundane parts of the empire of man have to rise to the occasion. More threats emerge every day, the Tau pushing in from the East, the Acoloytes of Pain raid ever more frequently from the Schism and the ever violent Orks of Urglot the Imitator all serve to test the defences. Accordingly, the forces of Xyphon have been martialled in recent years to an unprecedented level.......

******************************************

Welcome to my new project log. The general idea behind this is to gather together all my 40k projects into one. This way, I don't need to feel guilty which 40k army I paint, it all adds to the total!

The main focus of this will be guard, as they are always my first love. Also included initially will be Tau, Renegades, and Orks. In fact, Orks will feature quite a lot early on as I am trying to clear the model back log and they are the most common army in my unpainted pile. However, guard will get some special love, and I will be starting with them.

My guard army will retain my old red and bone colour scheme - it's kind of become my trademark after all! However, the colour scheme will be tweaked using the new paints, and I shall be trying for a higher quality finish. Most importantly, I shall be taking inspiration from the other great ideas on the web, of which there is plenty.

I decided to start with a simple Platoon Command squad, so here we go:

The officer and the medic:

My aim here: To have a young, keen officer and a overladen medic. I really wanted the medic to look like he has too much kit. I used the sentinel drivers right arm for him, as I figure I can paint that control stick as some kind of scanner.

Next, the vox caster (really pleased with him)

I have used the catachan vox for him, and tried to give him a relaxed pose. The gun has lots of extras on it as one of themes for the guard of Xyphon sector is that they are encouraged to mix and match equipment at a personal level to make them each as effective as they can be. Of course, this sometimes causes problems with the more traditional parts of the Imperium.

I am currently just finishing off two flamers, one normal and one heavy. In the models above you can see some common themes: kit bashing, use of GS torsos, and also extra bits from other companies. Also, lots of conversions! Only the guard will get this level of attention as it's quite time consuming.

Anyway, enough from me. More to come with fluff, OOB's etc. As always, your opinions are always wanted.

Been playing around with some DE bits lately and came up with this Sybarite, as you can see it's still WIP as the paintjob is not 100%, and yes - she's missing an arm. Other that that I'm pretty pleased with the scheme I chose, I wanted her to look cold, menacing and barbaric yet DE-ish so to speak.. I do have 9 more Wyches laying around so maybe I'll paint the whole squad like this.

Anyway, this log will feature some of my 'evil' stuff - random DE and Chaos mini's that is.

Until next time,
Cheers

Heya guys and girls,
Three of us in my local gaming group (the main three of us) have decided to finally finish one army each...i (adam) and taking chaos marines with daemon allies, rob is taking a typhus styled death guard army and darryl is taking dark angels. We are building 4000 point armies for a three way apocolypse game sometime in the christmas holidays. Now myself and rob are starting afresh...new army means new (or in our case recycled) models...darryls cheating...by using his already built and painted 1500 point dark angels army to begin with.I shall be posting updates as and when i either get them or receive them from the lads...and my own once ive worked out how to use a picture hosting site on my phone...

Thanks

Apologies in advance for the english, as its not my main language. 20 + years of devouring hollywood films and american popculture, doesn't guarantee bulletproof grammar, I am afraid.

For some time now, I've been toying with the idea of starting my own painting studio. I know I've got decent enough skills, but the management, customer dealing, and general logistical side of such an enterprise is currently beyond me. I decided that before I'll even begin thinking about setting up my own studio offering commisions, it would be best to start a painting log, as baby steps. To learn the trade, get critique and suggestions on the paintjobs, and perhaps advertise my works a bit. Get a better feel of whats involved in the buissnes of commision painting.

My current goal is to set aside any display models for my own private collection, and for now focus on pieces meant for Ebay. I would like to try training and dedicate a regular amount of hours per day, so that I can complete several good quality models/units a month. Get a better grip on managing time and learn to paint more effectively.

The last piece I finished was a unit of three Necron Canoptek Wraiths:

Well hello there!

Long time lurker here, been meaning to create a log to post pics and background for my various armies: Goff Orks, Ultramarines and Helghast themed Imperial Guard. Only got pictures of some of my Orks so far but will be updating in the future whenever I manage to pop back home from Uni. I've tied together all my armies background together in the same setting, that of the Ork invasion of the Imperial world of Sturgies IV and the subsequent campaign to repel them. First up will be general background to the planet and campaign, followed by unit pics of some of my Orks as well as fluff bits and bobs for each unit. C&C is more than welcome! One to say is that the bases will be redone at some point, as only the base on the Ork Pilot I'm really happy with at the moment and some units might get better pictures when this is done (although it won't be until after graduation!). So, without further ado:

Sturgies IV

Segmentum: Ultima

Sector: Agyrrhius

Sub-Sector: Sturgies

Planetary Bodies: 5

Sturgies I: Small uninhabitable planetoid close to star’s orbit. Population: 0

Sturgies II: Gas Planet. Two Moons with minor mining operations ongoing. Provides some raw materials for processing on Sturgies IV Population: >1 million

Sturgies III: Small jungle world. Extensive agriculture provides most of the foodstuffs for Sturgies IV’s population. Surplus is sent out-system for trade and in the form of
Imperial Tithes. Population 50-100 million

Sturgies IV:

Equatorial deserts. Extensive dry scrubland. Some small-mid-range settlements and mining operations.

Colder polar mountainous regions at top and bottom of world.

Areas surrounding poles most heavily populated. Several major cities. Two major spaceports, one in the north, one in the south. Much mid-equatorial range taken up with large oceans.

In some areas re-breathers required for extended exposure due to atmospheric pollution.

Some less frequented/less accessible mountainous and desert areas contain rebel or mutant elements and strongholds. Not strong enough seriously threaten Imperial control but a source of constant conflict. Local PDF commit to regular patrols and cleansing actions.

Standing PDF elements sub-Guard standard. Roughly 10 regiment strengths. Est. 70-100,000 active personnel. Some reserves but not battle ready. Contains armoured and artillery elements. Small standing air force.

Small training element from 12th Vektan Light Infantry present planetside. Under regiment strength (est. 2-3000 Guardsmen) split between two major polar cities and several other smaller training facilities.

Population: 1.6 billion (approx) plus some indentured off world Ogryn workforce elements. Usually found as part of mining operations.

Sturgies V: Small planetoid. One Adeptus Mechanicus research outpost. Population >1 million.

Timeline

M41.855. Assault on Black Reach – Warboss Zanzag is defeated in his underground hideout by Ultramarines Captain Sicarius and the Ultramarines 2nd company. Waaagh Zanzag ceases to exist as a unified force.

M41.857. Warboss Razgob emerges at the head of a substantial proportion of Ork forces left on Black Reach concentrated on the still Ork-held Sulphora Hive.

M41. 859. Sulphora Hive becomes the last remaining major Ork Stronghold left on Black Reach. PDF infantry and armour units are massed for a final campaign.

M41. 860. PDF units assault the Hive to find it defended by a mere skeleton force. As the PDF’s main strengths are occupied storming Sulphora, the vast majority of Ork units under Razgob’s command have already left the city via tunnel networks constructed during the years of occupation, found later on to have been based upon old mining and engineering works. Razgob’s forces board several hidden space-faring craft, blast-off and break orbit, savaging several orbital defence posts as they clear the system.

M41. 872. Ork fleet elements attack and overrun the gas mills of Poiteron VII, plunder large quantities of fuel before destabilising several gas mill’s grav-lock engines, plunging millions of Imperial citizens and uncountable economic assets worth of mining equipment into the inner chem storms. After action reports collated from PDF elements indicate 75.3% certainty Razgob’s forces were behind the attack.

M41. 875. Research Station Zeta 447 is attacked and lost with all hands on the third moon of Dulzore III. Imperial Guard elements of the Mordant 7th Heavy Infantry attempt to retake the facility taking heavy casualties. System scanners indicate significant strength of Ork fleet assets loitering in system that flee once the Ork forces planetside have been defeated. Warband “Razgob’s Rampagers” formally identified.

M41. 876-9. Up to a dozen light raids and fleet pirate actions are tentatively attributed to “Razgob’s Rampagers “

M41. 781. Waaagh Razgob appears in the Sturgies system making straight for Sturgies IV, the most heavily industrialised world and also the system capital. Local fleet elements engage but cannot prevent planetfall at several sites, with two main Ork strengths concentrated in the northern mountainous polar region near the planet’s capital, Grayhaven and another out in the equatorial deserts. The Imperial Governor sends out a blanket plea for aide.

Brother-Sergeant Ovatius strode forward, bullets pinging off his power armour, raised his bolt pistol and let off a deafening trio of shots at the green-skinned foe. His brother-marines marched beside him, unfaltering volleys of fire ripping into the mass of Orks ahead as they swarmed and seethed out of the ruined buildings ahead, running full pelt at his bold, blue line. With a roar like thunder Brother-Sergeant Varion dropped from the skies, leading his Assault Squad into their midst of the Ork charge.

“Give praise brothers! Varion smites the foe with the fury of Gulliman himself!”

Yet even as he spoke these words Varion’s attack appeared to be faltering. From out of the mass a huge Ork emerged, twice the height of any of Ovatius’ own holy warriors. Even as Varion turned to face this new threat, the Ork hefted a mighty crackling power claw and leapt at him, tearing into his jump pack and shredding it. Varion ditched his pack and attempted to bring his power sword to bear but a second blow from the Warboss sent him crashing across the road. Ovatious recognised the massive beast immediately.

“It is the Warboss himself! Lucky are we on this day that brings this xenos spawned abomination to battle! Gaius! Inform Brother-Captain Fabian we have engaged the leader of the xenos scum! Now forward brothers! Courage and honour!”

Rare pict-cap of the Ork Warboss known as Razgob. Armed with both a heavily modified, twin-linked, large bore automatic weapon and a power “Klaw” capable of tearing through tank armour, his presence on the battlefield caused much consternation amongst Imperial Guard and PDF forces. This heightened after rumours circulating in the aftermath of the initial siege of Greyheaven where it was said he butchered an entire platoon of PDF troopers single-handedly. This has yet to be independently verified and all mentions of the incident should be reported to the Commissariat until further notice.

Pict-cap of unknown Ork leader recorded during the first day of the sacking of Charbrias. Notice the extensive bionic implants fitted to this individual including what looks like a possible brain transplant. Xenos experts suggest this is may be a high ranking medical specialist.
Ork pilot captured during the fight to reclaim Greyhaven in M41.783. The Ork depicted was thought to carry high level intelligence. A suggestion apparently confirmed when large numbers of Ork units made concerted efforts to recapture the individual.

This image was retrieved from the helmet cam of Brother Thadius of the Ultramarines 3rd Company. It was taken during one of the many engagements fought in the closing weeks of M.41.783 as Ultramarine forces cleared the northern mountain ranges around Razgob’s initial landing zone.

Pict-cap from Brother-Sergeant Valion of the Ultramarines 5th Company. Recorded during his units actions as part of the initial 5th Company drop assault into the height of the storming of Greyheaven. Brother-Sergeant Valion was grievously injured during this battle but earned the honour of crossing swords with Warboss Razgob himself. Note the large ceremonial banner often carried as a Warboss’s personal totem.

During much of the early action in the deserts of Sturgies IV, the PDF in enough numbers could often hold their own against the rank and file Ork infantry. However they were no match for heavily armed and armoured elite units of “Nobs” who were deployed in large numbers to break PDF strongpoints. This unit was recorded by the servo-skull of an Administratum official as the Orks sacked the small mining settlement of Yupries. Note the distinctive red top-knots, imitating the one sported by Warboss Razgob.
Pict-captures from Sector 34/75 Greyhaven. Identified as “Trukk Boyz” unit belonging to Waaagh! Razgob. This particular unit was engaged by elements from the Helghan 105th 4th Company. Note the combination of close combat weapons and light armaments clearly showing the unit’s preference for hand to hand fighting.
Ork transportation vehicle tentatively as “Gor-Skull-Wazza” according to the runes borne upon its frontage. This translates literally to Gore-Death-Speed, although Speeding Gory Death would be more appropriate according to our Xenos Dialogos advisers.

Dismounted unit of Ork Trukk Boyz. Note the slightly lighter physique compared to the standard line troops employed by Waaagh! Razgob. Possibly indication that this particular unit is relatively inexperienced.

For those who didn't know me, I'm Dreff. And I'm here to present you my Blood Angels. I posted the thread here because this will most likely be the place for my Orks as well. I've had threads before but now I just thought that "Hey, let's close everything up, shuffle the things together and start all over again." I'm repainting most of my army which includes the following:

(colors mean the stage of work)

Green= Complete
Grey= In bits
Blue= Glued together (for the most of it)
Red= Painting in process

-A truescale/terminator 'Sanguinary' Captain
-A Librarian
-5 Sanguinary Guard (almost done)
-10 Death Company
-A Death Company Dreadnought
-A Rhino (For the Death Co.)
-2x10 Assault Marines
-3x10 Tactical Marines
-2x Land Speeders
-A Stormraven
-A Whirlwind (almost done)

I'll be adding 2 Baal Predators as soon as I am able to buy them. My Whirlwind is a conversion that I made using spare parts from the Stormraven and 2 rockets from the Valkyrie that my friend gave me. Sanguinary Guards look pretty neat so far and they have minor adjustments needed to be done until they're completely ready. For the future Orks to be added in my thread, I am intending to sell ALL my plastic Orks (including my awesome Looted wagon made from a Predator with some added dakka bits and awesomeness :cries:.) And I'll just leave most of my metal models which are:

-5 Nobs
-A Deff Dread
-3 Meganobs
-5 Tankbustas (along with the squigs!)

"Why are your Angels called The Blood Lance?" -I hear you ask. Well, I got an idea and toke the Crimson Lance logo from Borderlands (which is a game if you didn't know) and thought that Hmm, this might be a good idea, I'll name my Angels The Blood Lance! And so the story begins...

I toke some pictures of my newly built Captain and I hope this will give you some excitement before I post more pictures of my army.

Cheers, And as always, Comment and Criticize.

Hello there!

Recently I've had a significant change in lifestyle resulting in much less free time for my GW hobby. This has meant the project logs I have going (see sig) have stuttered and stalled. Now whilst I haven't quit on those armies, I haven't made much progress on them but I have grabbed the odd hour or two to dabble.

This log will chart my hobby experience as much as I can!

Today I've begun work on my latest project- an Inquisitorial Warband for my Grey Knights! Inspired by all those Inq28 logs, I've embarked on a frenzy of kitbashing and converting!

First up is my Death Cult Assassin. She's made from the hanger-on from the raider sprue and a shadowseers legs, along with a couple of Wood Elf swords.

Next, my psykers. Made from a cross breed of luminark acolytes and flagellant bits.

A cherub. Because I had it lying around. This also marks my first play with guitar strings! Any ideas which henchman it could be?

A vindicare assassin. I saw this conversion online and thought I'd give it a bash. Not the best I've ever done but fun nonetheless!

These are warrior henchmen. I'm unsure about the Halberds now though, might want something more 40k. Intending them to be the bodyguards for a navigator.

Also coming up is a small Night Lord army using the Dark Vengeance set. This army will be directly inspired by Aaron Dembski-Bowdens Night Lord books (which are the dogs doodahs btw). The chosen will become First Claw and the Helbrute will be Malcharion. I just needed an HQ and inspired by this piece of art:

I built this:

And finally I built this for my mate:

'Ello beastie!

So, hopefully there'll be many more updates in the near future, with paint, and possibly tea. Please feel free to suggest, criticise or compliment as you see fit, as I'm still not 100% on all of these dudes!

Cheers

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone!

This isn't the first time I've posted in this forum, I've been lurching around for a while. I took part in a painting log with a couple of friends (entitled Imperial Vs Orks: Take of Four Gamers). While I did do a little bit of updating/painting...I ended up failing the blog by a) stopped painting b) stopped updating and c) stopped collecting Orks.

I don't have a great track record when it comes to painting sadly. As much as I enjoy building/battling I really struggle to paint (strong mixture of lack of ability in anything 'art' related, time and patience). Saying all that though, I really do want to get an army painted...an army to be proud of...regardless of the level of painting involved.

I've always been a fan of the Tau, so jumped at the chance to return to one of my first armies I ever bought all those years ago as the new models look incrediable! So, after some encouragement from Warseer'er and friend Fle I've decided to try and log my progress. Be warned, this maybe updated slowly, and has a high chance it'll drop though the forum never to be seen again...however I do have a good feeling about this one!

So how are they going to look? Well, I'm taking on a very simple colour scheme that I used once before on a Forgeworld Battlesuit from years ago. While he was never finished he is still to this day the only model I've ever felt like I painted 'well', compared to my standards anyway.

<img src="http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=168305&d=1365440045&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
Bold primary colours are the order of the day. I'm hoping to replicate that look to my new Tau army (with various exceptions, Kroot and Stealth Suits to name two).

Anyway, I've built my new box of Pathfinders today (see image below). I've got a fair amount to build yet, but hope to undercoat these very soon and make a start on the painting between building the rest. I've got an Apoclypse game coming up in May so hope to have the entire army build and with at least a couple of units on the way to being completely painted.
