I have a 750 daemon army (slaanesh themed) with the forgeworld keeper of secrets as my centrepiece model. Now I am not really sure if I want to take a noise marine detachment which will consist of a chaos lord with A few gadgets , 2 units of noise marines (all upgraded) and a forgefiend. All that comes to 750. Or I can add more daemons to my army which means I will be putting in 2 daemon princes, 15 seekers and a unit of 10 daemonettes which also comes to 750.

I am really stuck atm...don't know what to get, I love the idea of noise marines but I have been put off by the guns abit as they don't look that nice (the pix ive seen on the net really) now im not sure if its the positioning or just not very good effort at painting but it didn't look as impressive as it thought it would.
And then theres the daemon side of it , more models and it seems a bit more competitive? I dunno im not like a mega competitive player but do play in a semi competitive environment so not sure what to go for really, please help

thanx

IF we get a points reduction or significant boost in capability this might change.
The flyer has not had enough info and picture up until now. Besides I have a Nightwing, will have a Phoenix and the currently available pictures do not measure up to them.

So I'm just wondering if anyone eschews the new fluff and adheres to the older interpretations of fluff. For example; how many of you stick to the rendition of the 3rd edition Necrons and C'tan who were more than angry body snatchers? How many of you still subscribe to old 1st edition fluff where the Iron Warriors are Slaanesh aligned, Leman Russ is a IG general, and Lion El'Jonson is spelt Lyyn Elgonsen? Oh how could I also forget an important fluff tidbit; that the Ultramarines are a successor chapter of the Rainbow Marines.

Also if anyone knows some cool old 1st edition fluff tidbits feel free to shout them out in this thread.

One the one hand, I'm hoping it's used to portray the different craftworlds and chaos legions properly, on the other, it does make me worried there will be no way to play Iyanden fluffily in the new codex, forcing me to buy both if I wish to continue using my Iyanden force.
So what does everyone think of codex supplements, and do you think we will have more, and how do you think they may affect 40k as a whole?

I am leaning to CSM Slaanesh army and converting the DA Dark Vengeance bits.

Well, it's far, far off by any chance. But after new codices, and edition chance, some aspects of our current codex makes me a bit sad :)

There are some of changes i would like to see;

Raiders, Venoms: Rapid Deployment; Grants them a rule to passengers fire or disembark if moved at cruising speed. Avoid Exploded! damage on 5+. No point changes (already expensive, this way at least it does something it's supposed to be good at).

Venoms: Chariots??.

Voidraven Bomber: Implosion missiles costs 10 points cheaper. Void lances are blast. Keeps missile setting as it is. Points up, likely 175 points base (So it will be what it supposed to be, extremely good against ground targets but vulnerable to other flyers, as bombers are).

Razorwing Jetfighter: Heat lances, heavy disintegrator cannons(S7 Heavy 2), or dark lances as main weapon. Vector dancer. Basic missiles changes as Heavy 1 S5, Armorbane. Basically your anti-air&armour combat monster.

Splinter Weaponary: Change it's Strength to 3. Poisoned 5+.

Flickerfield: Gives Stealth, or Shrouded if moved flat out.

Warriors: Point cost Drops to 7.
Trueborn: Tank hunters, Splinter weapons are Poisoned 4+. Ghostplate armor. They are THE rich bastards...
Warriors and Trueborn: Dark lances costs 15, blasters 10. They aren't good as GW thinks they are.
Wyches: Point cost Drops to 9. 5++ Dodge save against overwatch.
Bloodbrides: Dodge Save increased to 3++, 4++ against overwatch.
Incubi: Tormentor stones; Counts as offensive granades.
Hellions: I didn't used them much, so i cannot say anything about that.
Beastmasters: Same with hellions.
Reaver Jetbikes: They already rock. And i don't think they should be nerfed, they pay the price for what they do, and can die in seconds if handled poorly.
Heamonculi, Master Heamonculi: +1 LD. Some changes about wargear... The list is damn too long. System failure. Head explodes.
Grotesque, Wracks: Fnp increased to 4+.
Scourges: Point cost drops to 15.
Mandrakes: Moving Shadows; Opponent can't fire overwatch when assaulted by mandrakes. Phased into void; CC attacks are rending, invul is 4++.
Cronos: +6" range to it's weapons and it's "loving is sharing" ability.
Cronos and Talos: FnP is 4+. Roadblock.
Ravager: 5 points drop, maybe. But still seems fine.

So, what are your thoughts?

I would like to ask, does anyone here use an army that is either illegal, unofficial or even of their own design, by agreement with their regular opponents, because it allows you to use something unusual or create something that isn't represented by strict use of the current range of official codex books?

I for example use a Witch Hunters army. When I say Witch Hunters, I don't mean Sisters of Battle, I mean Witch Hunters. To do this I have taken the descriptions of the Inquisitor in the Grey Knights Codex literally (it says that the entry could represent Inquisitors from any Ordo) and taken the entire section on Inquisitors and Imperial Agents from the Grey Knights book, and added it to the White Dwarf Sisters of Battle list. All this does in my opinion is what GW should hsve done in the first place, rather than taking the Inquisition and Agents out.

I have also seen several Mechanicus armies about. What rules are used for these? Counts as?

Thanks.
