We played it that way and my Lord of Change sniped his Icon of Excess on his 10-man Noise Marines with Bolt of Tzeentch and my Aspiring Sorceror sniped both blastmasters with Doombolt. Seemed kinda dickish.
Did we play it right?

We ran in to a situation today that we, as beginners, had never come upon. An IG army had a unit of 11 with Yarrick attached get whittled down to just 2 last turn in the shooting phase, Yarrick and a lone IG model. Next turn those two moved, shot and assaulted a unit of 5 boys and a Nob. The challenge was issued and accepted and the Nob vaporized. Now comes the part that I wonder if we did any where near correct. The boys made and end of combat pile in around Yarrick ....yes? Then the Ork player on his turn charged Yarrick with a separate unit of 2 Warbosses and 2 Nobs (even a legal unit?) My question is since there was no way to actually make base contact with Yarrick can that charge even be declared and or attempted? I was spectating and looking stuff up for them but I didn't know where to start for this. Thanks for any replies and please quote page numbers in the rule book for clarity.

I've tried to piece together an answer to this question from other threads about drop pod armies and reserves, but I encountered a pretty specific situation and was hoping for some clarification:

My friend had a Blood Angels army with 5 drop pods and their squads, a Stormraven, and Mephiston.

2 of the drop pods had Independent Characters in them along with the Sternguard/ Tactical Squads, but if I've read the rules correctly none of these count toward the numbers for Preparing Reserves no matter who is in them. All of them started in reserve obviously, as they must. This leaves the Stormraven which also must start in reserve, and Mephiston.

My question is can he embark Mephiston in the Stormraven and keep everything in reserve, or does he have to deploy Mephiston on the table at the start of turn 1 because he is the only model counting toward reserve numbers? The Preparing Reserves section in the BRB states that you may keep up to half of your army in reserve, rounding up. The rounding up question was the origin of our argument... If you only have one model can you choose to have it start in reserves (by embarking it, specifically) because? Also, if there is anything wrong with my rules clarification/ meanings along the way please let me know.

Thanks for any help!

When shooting at a unit do I place the blast templates individually then work out the damage before placing the next blast template or can i do all four blast templates then roll the wounds for all four? The latter method definately has an advantage over the former seeing as though the enemy unit might be losing guys each time and therefor possibly making you hit less models.
(sorry, i am out of my state and was teaching someone to play without my rulebook and i dont quite remember how this works as I have never ran into this issue before.)
