Pff. D'you think I have nothing better to do?
Er... here you go. People with easily upset stomachs turn away now.
I'm not so satisfied with these results. I tried to cram too many colour combinations onto two minis. And you'll see some tide marks and blotchiness started to appear. I think that's partly due to fiddling and puddling with them, trying to paint them neatly onto individual small bits; and partly because of too-heavy single layers. Anyway.
Hopefully it'll give an impression, at the least. I used a few basic colour groups (reds, blues, greens etc.) on grey-primed gaunts and put on the washes that might suit them, along with the closest complementary in most cases. Just to see. Also, there's no set single layer or whatever. I added more to any that I thought needed it.
Most wash colours should be pretty evident, so I'll just mention those that might not be.

1 Reds and blues
Front half: blood red and ultramarines blue.
Head - baal red. Two coats didn't make much of a dent! Maybe because of the strength of solid blood red. Might work better on mechrite red, or use more or heavier coats.
Upper arm - leviathan purple
Lower arm - ogryn flesh
Hand and tube - gryphonne sepia
Magazine - badab black
Fleshborer - thraka green. Most seem to turn out a similar dull shade against bright blood red, but green (the complementary) gave the most intense and IMO interesting shadows.
Head plates - leviathan purple
Fore fleshborer plate - baal red (not so easy to see here. Take my word for it)
Hind FB plates - badab black
1st 2 back plates - asurmen blue
Back half: tentacle pink (or as close as I could mix, but probably a moot point) and Coat d'arms wizard blue (= enchanted blue?)
Midleg, top to bottom - gryphonne sepia, ogryn flesh and devlan mud
Last 2 back plates, front to back - asurmen blue and leviathan purple
Hindleg plates - badab black and devlan mud, IIRC. Can't tell you which is which...
And yeah, thraka green over pink is not a great idea.
2 Light colours
Front half (inc. midleg): dheneb stone flesh and astronomican grey plates.
Fleshborer and hind FB plates - devlan mud
Fore FB plate - badab black
The first three back plates are asurmen blue over astro grey. The third has less blue than the others.
Back half: bleached bone flesh and space wolves grey plates and hooves
3rd back plate - devlan mud
Hoof - badab black
The right hindleg has bleached bone and leviathan purple on this side. Looks good, IMO.
3 Browns and flesh
Front half (inc midleg): tallarn flesh and khemri brown plates
Head - ogryn flesh
Fleshborer (inc. plate) - gryphonne sepia
Back plates - devlan mud
Midleg claw - badab black over khemri brown
Back half: elf flesh and vomit brown plates and hoof
Back plates - gryphonne sepia
Upper leg plate - ogryn flesh
Lower leg plates - devlan mud
Hoof - badab black
The brown washes work very well with vomit brown, yes?
4 & 5 Yellows and greens
Front half: iyanden darksun flesh and goblin green plates and claw
Head plates - gryphonne sepia
Head and 3rd back plate - ogryn flesh
Upper arm and fore FB plate - baal red
Hand, magazine and hind FB plates - devlan mud
Midleg - leviathan purple
Claw - badab black
Back half: Gamecraft canary yellow flesh (standard yellow, close enough to sunburst) and scorpion green plates
Right hoof - devlan mud
Left hoof - baal red
Yes, the flesh on the thigh started out as yellow. And I agree with Nurgleboy's opinions on yellow and green.
6
Second layers of different colours, on the first test gaunt.
Upper arm and thigh - badab black
Upper midleg - devlan mud?
Hindleg plates - gryphonne sepia
7
Spinefist plate - ogryn flesh
Spinefist front (inc. knuckles) - gryphonne sepia
Spinefist feed - baal red
Lower arm - leviathan purple
Upper arm - badab black
Midleg, top to bottom - badab black, gryphonne sepia, asurmen blue
Hindleg, top to bottom - badab black, ogryn flesh, gryphonne sepia, baal red
Hindleg plates - 2 asurmen blue, 1 devlan mud
Looks like you need to be careful with colour choices when overlaying these washes. Some can dull and darken eachother (or a bit less generously: muddy eachother), particularly when you start layering the closest complementaries together. And obviously when you add a layer of black!
I think the exceptions to the dulling complementaries are the purple and blue on the sepia spinefist, and the red over the green hoof. The blue over sepia is dulled, but it's an interesting subtle blue-green kind of dull. Ditto with the red-green grey.
Also, I think a general rule of thumb is that darker colours washed over lighter colours leave a bit more vibrancy than vice-versa. E.g. sepia over green (lower left hindleg) looks all right in a dark camo kind of way, but the green over sepia (right spinefist) is the best result of the lot, IMO.
And exceptions to that might be blue over black and sepia over red.
Now pardon me while I go check into a clinic.
