Re: FW UK Openday
I had a fairly long chat with Will Hayes and Tony Cottrell on the subject of titans.
Firstly: Weapons options. - Lucius Warhounds are shortly to follow the Reaver in weapons being available seperately, within the next few weeks (Tony's words 'If not already'). Score for my Campaign!
- Mars Pattern Warhound they want to do, but because the weapons need to be resculpted to remove their 'handedness', it won't neccessarily be soon.
- The Reaver is getting additional Carapace Weapons. Will is quite excited about making a sort of 'battleship turret' to go on top of the reaver, which the varying warhound weapons will plug into. The Vortex Missile is the least likely carapace weapon to be made.
- The Reaver is getting a volcano cannon as an arm weapon. Apocalypse Launcher arms were shot down by one designer's very vehement opposition to them (they look silly apparently), over the enthusiasm of the others. I sense another campaign coming on!
Secondly: Chaos Reaver - The shoulder pads as seen in photos in this thread (spiky) are too fragile, so they'll be backtracking a bit with the design.
- They expect a nearly complete concept to be ready by games day.
Future Titans (Warlord): - Warlord Titan will be a big kit, but it needs to be fitted into their big kit schedule, which won't be until the end of next year. Then it'll take about a year to design, so earliest possible date is about 3 years time, in 2012.
- Will Hayes would base it heavily on the original(first) metal miniature of the Mars Pattern from Epic.
- Will considers the Warlord to already at least partially started because it shares weapons with the Reaver, even though the project won't be started for a while. This is strong indication the Warlord will have the same weapons as the Reaver.
- Will gestured a height of the Warlord, which looked about 4"-5" taller than a Reaver.
Future Titans (Phantom): - Tony said a Phantom would be obvious choice to do for an Eldar Imperial Armour Book, which is not yet on the table.
- Tony says it would be the easiest of Warlord/Gargant/Phantom to do, due to lack of extensive interior and the lack of complexity that goes with Eldar Design. (eg 5 parts per leg revenant compared to 30+ warhound).
Future Titans (Gargant): - Least likely to be done, due to very extensive interior (Will Hayes says: 'not worth doing without') and very complex and detailed surfaces.
- Expect add-on kits for the Stompa instead.
