Here's another one:
The picture washes all the highlights away. Also the jpeg compression completly removed the eyes... Ah well.

And another one!
It's probably much slower, but it's really much more fun to just focus on one at a time.
Anyway, I might consider adding bowstrings, this feels kindda wrong w/o it...

Hop, two more:
Well, the hairy one on the left is probably an orc, but considering his (her?) size, he'll make a fine big boss with great weapon![]()

One more. The skin doesn't look nearly as bad in real life, I guess with the combination of yellow light, flash, crappy cam, and picture taken during night night, low quality was to be expected, but on the pic he really looks bad, that goblin :/ He really does look fine irl. Ah well, the mixing of different skin tones doesn't work so well anyway, I'm probably going to redo that.

Great plog. So many crazy greenskins. I like those classic goblins a lot, especially "Fester". Continue comme ca!
Merci![]()
Mmh... I've painted a chaos tree, a resin from micro art studio, (this one), I got a couple of them... but, dunno, I think I need a new camera, the goblin pics above are bad... the tree is hideous, it doesn't even look real :/ (see...). I'll try to take a pic with propper daylight hoppefully tomorrow, maybe it'll be better. Anyway, it's a nice model, will be perfect for the haunted forest terrain![]()

So... it turns out that on the common goblin front, nether GW (model-wise) nor Vetock (rules-wise) deliver. A stupid, non-fluffy unit upgrade for the common gobs, no new models, and they get shafted again in favour of the night goblins: they get their options for half price now... awesome! Night goblins can swap theirs for free. Huh?
So what's the good news? Well, there is going to be a lot of night goblin armies, still. Additionnally, there's going to be a lot of spider/forest goblin armies (depending on lazyness, 100% spiders or fielding count as forest goblin warriors using old metals, spider riders and arachnarok crew). So my common gobs will remain originalAnd I have the means of my ambition too:
The little bags are filled to the rim with common goblins goodness. The painted ones (good pic! not washed out details! woohoo!) only gets a hint of what's in those bags: common goblins from all the erasNo forest or night goblins in there (well, I have similar bags for both kinds
). Anyway, go common goblins
oh, while I'm at it, a better pic of the tree:
It's a bit blurry, but it's just scenery, i'm not going to bother with it anymore.

I really like your effort to make the common goblin units look interesting, both the Ogre slaying ones from the start of the thread and the classic minis you're doing now. Minis are keeping me from using either common goblins on foot or (especially) wolf riders. Yours look great though!

The "core" is almost done. The white thing behind will be cut in chunks of 20x20, 20x40 and 40x40mm, glued on the bases, and stand as a kind of diorama, like the wall for the wolf riders. There's going to be a tree on the bump, from which I'll have a swing hung (hopefully). Hopefuly I can still have all 20 gobs fit one way or another. Anyway, soon are over the days where the common goblins I field are half-unpainted plastics not even glued to their base
So it's the bog standard, default 20 strong gob unit (with command though). To that I'll add blocks to expend it either wide-wise (to go horde) or deep-wise (for steadfast).
The sneaky skewers are going to be... not sneaky skewers. I hate them. I'll use blood bowl star players to represent them. I like the idea of a crazy goblin with a chainsaw much better than an assassin, you see. Well, datz da plan.

Heh, I hear ya on the crazed loonies wielding a chainsaw ... I was thinking of using the gobbo superstars from Blood Bowl as (even more) Fanatics myself
Really nice unit of Common Gobs you got there, I just have a couple of questions :
1) Is that banner a freehand ?
2) NMM on the horn of the musician ?
1) yes; the mini got the banner itself molded along much like the current plastic banners (but not multipart). Apart from the folds, though, the banner is blank.
2) yeah. Though it would be fun to find a paint that replicates such reflective kinds of metal![]()

Right, last WIP pic, next will be the completed block.
So, people will tell you, and repeat, that planning ahead every little step is something you shouldn't skip. People, whoever they are, are right. So I didn't plan anything at allI painted twenty goblins, made the base I displayed on the previous page, decided that though the well was a fun idea, something with a tree would go together better with the wolves. So I scrapped the thing (I didn't like how it turned out anyway, I was about to redo it), made the hill randomly, and put the "toilet" randomly, and was lucky enough that when I didvided the whole thing into "bases", neither spilled over what I had planned.
Good. Now you'll notice that on my pic, even though I just claimed I had painted 20 gobs, a good third are not painted. Well yeah. Because I painted the gobs randomly: so I need a command, so you, you and you will be my command. No, wait, let's switch the musician, he looks like he's moving, it's more appropriate here. Then I need five archers, fived spears and five gobs with hand weapons and shields, and then two more. Picked those randomly. Painted them.
Got stuck because the local GW store ran out of plastic trees. Ordered one online, received it a few days later, put the tree, coated the whole thing with too layers of PVA glue.
Today I started placing the gobs, and figured that it was really, really stupid to paint the goblins first. So I'll either have to remove the gobs when I undercoat the dang thing, or do it with a brush and forget about the aircan.
And of course, while putting the gobs, I found that some just didn't fit, like that completly static speargoman just standing there. So sent to the shelf he was, and another one took his place. And again, and again and again.
Well, the good part is that with those, I can airspray those parts w/o any problem, hah!
So, people, plan ahead!

Whatever people ( like the "unitfillers are evil"-people from the unitfiller thread ) may say, it looks ruddy gorgeous and I would love looking at a unit like this on the battlefield far more than a regular unit, funny enough this is at the bottom of peoples 'unitfiller tollerance' because it's a static scenery object.. More pics! Loving the tree and the shadow it casts over the gobbos in the background.
