Thread: Iron Warriors uber bang bang death army

Re: Iron Warriors uber bang bang death army

Ok, here's the little bit of work done today. I might get some more done this weekend as I'm keen to get this vindie done, I want to see how it turns out in full before I decide if I'll make three based on the same design or not.

It's had some SRT (spike removal therapy) done on it because a few people have said there are too many and most importantly - my wife agrees... my most honest critic and my greatest support

    Here's the pics:

I plan on transferring the infestation over the legs as well, and select other parts, but not as much as on the turret.

Let me know what you think.

One thing I realise, though, it needs rivets to make it look like it's actually coming toward completion.

Ok I've done some more work on this today, which I don't normally do on a friday but today was special.

Here's some pics of my progress:

I'm considering removing one of the spiky leg plates completely and replacing it with a heavily plated one, making it one spiky and one plated. I'm trying to think of how to do it and still make it work aesthetically, because the infestation is going beyond what I originally intended. Bet some chaos general has heard that more often than I have.

Anyways, any comments or ideas or thoughts on that would be awesome. I want to make this thing work in well with the rest of the army, and going overboard with infestation kinda isn't going to fit that well....

    hello!

Dread's design was very good ^^
    I like it!

So, are you going to paint your Iron Warriors in green and some orange?
just your beginning? or the original one?
    look forward!

See i wasn't convinced when you first mentioned the idea but this has come together really well - model looks well balanced and you can see what it's supposed to represent. The excecution on that upright defilier is extremely impressive.

Iron warriors can take basilisks - howabout a silly big gun on carriage with a couple of defiler type legs on the front to drag itself forward?

Re: Iron Warriors uber bang bang death army

IW used to be able to take bassies, but the new rules changed that. I can take 3 vindies or 3 defilers if I want now though...

Ok, I've made some mods to the beast and I've started doing some extra work on it. Now I'm having trouble working out what to do *BLING* wise. Here are a few pics, lemme know which ones you like or which ones you reckon would work best - or even any suggestions are welcome, since this isn't an easy point on the model.

As to the mods, I've brought the legs a bit closer together and mounted them a bit higher, it seems to improve the overall aesthetic balance. But some ideas to help me get past this roadblock would be really welcome

    No bling:

    Small bling:

    Combo bling:

    Large MR-T style bling:

Personally I like the small bling the best.

Trust me, nothing is cooler than 8ft tall Werewolf Space Vikings!

Small bling definitely makes it look faster and mobile... but Mr.T. just gives that impression of a heavy tank... like a WW2 Panther in ambush mode or something.

God damn that's one sick walker.

    Great job!

Looking great, I think small bling gets my vote

Re: Iron Warriors uber bang bang death army

small bling: chains = look like someone put them there for no reason... although they look good...
"Large bling": chains could have some sort of purpose, although they are a bit too big...
    combi bling: nice compromise

Excellent. I'd say try and mix the 2 gauges of chain if posible; give it some variety.
Also, I reckon you could put some exhaust pipes on the top/back of the turret, give it a more intricate profile ....

I'd go for the combo-bling as well. Looks more chaos-y that way.

    Great work Lemmingspawn! Great work!

Rightio, I've done some more work on the chains and I'm pretty happy with them. A couple of the lengths look a little weird but they'll do for now. And hooks for the ends, that's definitely next. It's nearly done, and soon I'll be anchoring it to the base.

Anyways, enough talk and more pics:

Thanks for the help guys, it's helped me to nail the image a bit better. I was kinda stuck.

The addition of the chains really finished the model off nicely. Very unique design. Keep you the good work!

Well, I have been stuffing around this arvo and not really done anything...lol; I've just been playing around with some loyalist marines that I had lying around that I'll convert to chaos dudes as well.

Here are the pics of what I finished off on the Vindicator:

And a pic of the top shelf of my model shelves:

    FUN!

I'm a bit over building the vindicator at the moment so I won't be doing any more vindicators for a bit. We'll see how that goes, anyway.
