After reading through Captain Brown's and Chaos and Evil's Elysian logs, and getting back to London for my second year in uni, I decided to start an elysian army.
Seeing both the D-99 list and the original list, I decided to make the D-99, pre anphelion, considering its a relatively small army number-wise compared to other guard armies, and I like the idea of an elite unit, after making lots and lots of cadians.
Without further ado some photographs,
I wanted to make the uniform just like Karl Kopinsky's(spellcheck) fantastic illustration, desert fatigues with green flak armour and helmet, keeping the colour palette at minimum and realistic as possible:
My test model:
And Im sure some people never saw the models in actual size, I unfortunately didn't bring a marine with me here, but I got a vostroyan model that'll do the trick:
Unfortunately, I decided to build the army 3 days before gamesday, and although I ordered the core of the army forge world said it'll be a while for them to send it and they haven't arrived yet. The elysians Im painting now is one of the last flamer-demo squad they had in the warhammer world nottingham(yes I went there to check) so fingers crossed for my models to arrive.
I must also say that the models are just...fantastic. I was speechless after seeing the amount of detail on the jumpsuit, the faces and even the bayonet holder's little engraved aquila. The painting is a joy and well worth the money and time spent on them.
Thanks for reading and I hope I'll be motivated enough to make this a fast&fun log for both you and me =)
PS: While you wait for the other models, please check cpt.Brown and CoE's logs, they're fantastic:

erm...dammit, but I really like the colour scheme I got at the moment, so I guess I'll keep it. *curses*

): if I were a guard engineer I'd make the promethium canisters metal, while the wrapping around them should be green (that way it recalls the uniform's color, a soldier has to look properly elegant after all
