For a time i thought what to paint next, so many projects, but decided to go for the rogue idol of Gork. The Forgeworld model is great, but also very expensive. As I have to buy a expensive book also to get the rules for the rogue idol I will try to make one myself.
I have a gorilla or king kong model lying around and I'll use this as the base shape, as it is roughly the same size.
First I made a base, as big as the Arachnarok spider base, 15 by 10 cm. Can someone confirm this is the right size? I'm 99,9% sure though.

The headswap. I actually felt pity when I sawed the gorilla's head off.

OH YEAAAHHRRR!!! LOOK AT THAT BATTERING RAM

That is sooo cool! The ogres pushing it. the base. the detail. everything. It's so awesome!

Also, very interested in the idol of gork. I have no idea how you're gonna make that look cool, but I'm sure you'll make it!

Re: 20.000 points Orc and Goblins w.i.p.

Thanks Morton C and Thitanium Prince.

With a hotgluegun I started to add small pebbles and pieces of cement to the gorilla. A puzzle to get the pieces in the right places.

At first, I wanted the rogue idol to stand on the base with the short side of the base to the front to create a narrow frontage, which is better in gaming terms. But as the model is way more wide than 10 cm, I despatched it from it's base to fit in on again tommorow, only then with the long side of the base to the front. It looks much better.

It leaves a lot of mess.

This is the rogue idol undercoated. Hopefully tommorow I'll get it glued back to it's base and paint it.

Re: 20.000 points Orc and Goblins w.i.p.

The head of the rogue idol is indeed a bit on the small side. But as Leeoaks said, orcs are all about little brain and lots of muscle. Besides, I don't think orcs are that artistic, so making an idol in 'realistic' proportions is not exactly their goal. ;-)

I got some more work done on the goblin spearmen unit. I am in the process of assembing it so I can paint it and I've managed to get rid of the bright green skincolor, by brusching it over with a light brown color and I will give it a brow/greenish wash after that.

I'm going to use the 6th-edition-boxed-set-goblin-infantry-banners for all the goblin units, to get that coherent look. I've reversed the horns of the top of that banner, wich originally resembles a beastman ungor skull, but now a, well, goat skull... :-)

I glued together a warboss, wich needen to be on a trunk of tree, otherwise he wouldn't fit.

Re: 20.000 points Orc and Goblins w.i.p.

In a formotion of 10 wide, the warboss is not centre and I think it looks cool if he does. So I cut the movement tray and broadened it.

I found 5 more speardudes in my collection and made the unit 11 wide. Now it looks much better.

The unit, with a warboss with additional handweapon, a boss and the 3 nasty skulkers gets a whopping 52 attacks in an ideal circumstance.

That rogue idol looks excellent! I think the small head just adds to the crazy orciness of it. It'll make one hell of an impressive centrepiece.

Thanks. I've positioned the idol so that one leg is touching the ground, to get the impression it is walking.

The base will have a few pinetrees, I've used Zitardes pinetrees for that. I've reshaped the foliage a bit so it looks more natural. Left the original and right the reshaped tree.

Also I've made the trunks longer.

Aaahh sneaky! The long trunks makes those trees look really cool!

EDIT: Wait, I hadn't commented on the common goblins??? Any who, they look great! But the again all you units tend to do

Thanks, I've place the pinetrees on the base of the rogue idol and worked on the base a little bit. It's supposed to walk out of the forest across a small stream.

Yesterday I repainted a wolfrider as a test. I want all the wolves to be black. I've added some Italian herbs as foliage.

Re: 20.000 points Orc and Goblins w.i.p.

Working on the goblins with spears, made me want to assemble goblin units. Common goblins. The beautiful summerweather allowes me to sit outside :-)

I'm aranging them in units of 25. I can also put two movement trays behind or next to eachother to make them 50 big.

This is a very old orc musician, which I'm going to use as a goblin musician, it's that small.

I don't know if it's a newer casting, but underneath the miniature it says 1979.

I used the Dremel for the second time in the two year I have it, to drill a hole in the hand of this goblin.

I'm pretty keen on the banners from the 6th edition common goblin boxed set, even the ungor heads on top look cool, soo I won't cange them all to goatheads. Although I'm not going to use the uber-big goblins from that set, I will use the banners and the horns for musicians. The rest goes back in the bitbox.
