This is the basket where to throw in the stones. All it needs now is a chain, I've ordered one one Ebay. And the most difficult part, which I haven't got a real plan for, the winding machinery stuff, you know, to make it look like it would really work.
I'm going to put it on a large base, 17,5 cm x 12,5 cm with a pile of rocks of course and orcs operating the machine. Not so clever in gaming terms, but hey, I'm a fluffy guy :-)

Amyrevenge, what do you mean by how the warmachines work in the game? I think I like a rectangular base the best, but if for gaming terms a round base would be best, I'll consider that.
Thanks.

Well, in 8th ed you don't need a base for a warmachine, as units that charge them just need to contact the farthest point of them ... there's even a nice diagram showing an unit charging a cannon, and the unit stops as soon as they touch the point of the barrel.
Plus, you HAVE to pivot your warmachine to fire it, and you MUST use a consistent point on it for measuring purpose (the muzzle, the crossbar, a snot waving a flag, anything really as long as you always use the same bit during the same game).
So, yes, a round base could be practical, but not necessary ... personnaly, I'm glad I didn't mount my warmachines on scenic bases, because now I don't need it and I'm a lazy bugger
Also, we don't need to move the crew into base contact when a warmachine is engaged in close combat anymore, the new rules for crew states that they are just wound counters now.
That said, your Rock Lobba looks amazing, much better than the GW model I have !
Thanks Lorcryst for clarifying that! So yes... a round base could be the right thing. From a estheticly point of view it would be cool, as the mangler squigs wouldn't be so all alone on round bases...

That Rock Lobba looks great! There is nothing better than a good scratch built model, and this one can certainly be counted amonst the very best! I would like to see this finished...

Thanks, I'm building scenery now, after that I'll try to finish the lobber. How about a siegebattle this summer Boreas? Hopefully part of my walled town will be ready. And should be defended of course by your brave army :-)

In the campaign we are playing, I use two armies, a Night Goblins force and an Orcs horde. Each with three customised characters. The campaign took off 2 months ago, and we play a battle every three weeks. We have the rule, only to play with painted miniatures as we want to motivate ourselves to paint.
As the night goblins have some painted models already, I focussed on the orcs. I allready had some units painted, but not finished, with banners, movement trays etc.
These are the first units for the orcs.
Four units of 10 arrerboyz with boss. The arrerboyz are old metal GW ones, and the bigger bosses are GW plastics.
The nice thing I'm trying to do now, is make the orc and night goblin army go toe to toe together, see who's strongest. And in that way trying to balance them. They also have the same bases, so they look good together on the battlefield.

Oh man, those orc arrer boyz are nice Morglum
Great stuff! (as usual!)
Awesome work as always. The new style orcs fit in with the amazing old sculpts brilliantly with your style. Great job.
Wish my hordes would come out half as good as yours!
Hope to see some pics of the hordes going against each other!

6mm gaming. Apocalypse, but for grown ups!
Thanks guys! I'm now working on three things the same time, a unit of 40 orcs, 5 wide, 8 deep, with black orc big boss, a unit of 28 big uns with additional choppa, with black orc big boss and the huge rocklobber. It would be cool, giving it's twice the size of regular rock lobbers and has more crew, to give it more wounds and let it shoot with the large template. Off course it needs to be more points then.
