    Thanks Solun Decius,

I have completed two more Firewarriors, leaving four left to do, I just could not get into doing six at once this time.

Another small update, the last two Firewarriors are now painted.

As I was relaxing in the enjoyment of a nearly complete army I noticed something I had missed in the last four models, anyone know what I missed?

Had me do a double-take. Is it the sept-markings?

Really nice work, though. Your consistency is enviable

    Thank you for the comments.

You are exactly correct...I noticed as I was getting ready to do an army shot.

Sept markings added to the last four Firewarriors.

Army shot...without my bits that I can use to swap out tank weapons.

Now I am debating if I should go an magnetize the other Skyray turret and it's Seeker Missiles.

I honestly love this army, Tau are such a good looking army when painted consistently and with care and in my opinion can be the best looking army around.

Captain Brown i salute you on a gorgeous looking force, whats next?? Manta

Re: Captain Brown's Tau Painting Log (Many magnets, lots of photos, reactive camo, et

    Thank you for the comments.

Sorry Rogerio, no Manta is planned.

I am still debating whether to magnetize the other Skyray Turret's Seeker Missiles or not. I have a few Tau figures left, but whether to paint them or trade them away is my last dilemma.

Perhaps I should finally do some photos of them with my Elysians...which was the original idea.

CB - fantastic looking army, although I think you need some dead elysians on some bases

I've just read through the entire log and I'm awed by the stealth suits. I've just bought a Tau battleforce to add allies to my guard but I'm now considering a full army after seeing yours. Also, I will be investing in some magnets to maximise the use of the tanks.

    Too expensive to be casualties.

Re: Captain Brown's Tau Painting Log (Many magnets, lots of photos, reactive camo, et

    I am back...

So I have decided to continue this log for two reasons, the first was with the release of the new Codex it is always a good idea to check your army to make certain the majority of it can still function and you can still field a legal army. The second is that I have come into possession of another dozen Firewarriors from an unlikely source. It seems the wife of one of my gaming buddies used to babysit for some neighbouring children...at some point they started playing Games Workshop games and like many young gamers jumped in with gusto only to decide that it was not for them. Their collection of plastic figures crossing many 40K and WFB armies ended up in my friend’s possession rather than the trash and I have ended up with a dozen Tau and eight Eldar.

These figures have been assembled rather haphazardly...too much glue here and rather strange assembly there. With a lot of Simple Green, some elbow grease and a very sharp craft knife I was able to get the figures apart. With some of the extra weapon arms I have left from my single purchase of Firewarriors I have set about rebuilding them...but it is slow going and they are in a bad way. For example not a single helmet antenna is present and due to a truly massive amount of plastic cement was used to attach the shoulder pads to the left arms (which were posed in strange positions) they suffered heavy damage. However these figures present an opportunity as I had found the mixing of Pulse Rifles and Pulse Carbines in my Firewarrior squads had not been a success and in recent battles I had be fielding squads of ten and sitting my handful of Carbine armed troops on the sidelines. Now I have a chance to build a full Carbine armed Squad and fill in the pair of spots vacated by the six Carbine carrying Firewarriors across the three squads.

In the meantime I will leave you with some pictures of my Tau’s latest battle (as I don't like to post an update without answering a specific question or posting pictures); they shared the field with 750 points of another gaming buddy’s Tau against 1500 points of Tyrandis. My mechanized Tau force proved very useful in seizing a objective on the last turn and getting troops into our opponents deployment zone.

The initial deployment, I was tasked with holding one of the objectives in the ruined building and getting some Firewarriors past the Tyranids to seize or contest two objectives in their deployment zone. The Tyrandis player noted this and thus placed a large number of his forces on his right flank to stop me.

The very impressive Tyranid horde getting ready to consume my Tau...

The brave Pathfinders in the ruined building (they would all die valiantly in defending the objective, but their Markerlights did let my Skyray fire off most of her Seeker Missiles.

Tyranids advance towards me...why is more than two thirds of the army heading for me? Especially when it was my Seeker Missiles that were hammering the Carnifax on the Tyranid’s right?

In summary the battle went six turns and the final victory point difference was 1 with a very close fought victory for the Tau with the 2 points seized at the end of the game giving victory.

So standby for an update with some 'resurrected' troops in the coming days.

    The long painting war continues,

    CB

PS: I guess I have a third reason...with the new Codex there is a bit of an urge to get new models and paint them up...however I am going to try and resist and keep my army very similar to it's previous set-up. So please do not expect a Riptide or Flyers to show up...sorry.

Thanks sheep, but I have a pretty complete army already.

In the meantime, some salvaged Tau Firewarriors. Six with Pulse Carbines and six with Pulse Rifles:

I made the helmet antenna out of the prongs from the Marker Light or whatever sensor device I had a few spares of, and one extra I had sculling about. Now I have to go see if my paints are still any good.

How very nice your're back CB, it would be nice to see some more battle photos. Will anything else be added, besides 12 firewarriors (and almost mandatory Riptide)

What an awesome army! I love it

So are we going to be seeing a Riptide anytime in the near future?

Lovely work. I'm not normally a huge fan of "approved" GW paint schemes, but you have made me like this one! A particular favourite of mine are the stealth suits. As Rivyn says above, any chance of a Riptide in the near future?
