Musings from the Warp .... lots of stuff log.

    Ok,

Apart from my Brits n Space project I've gotta a few other little 40k projects ticking over at the moment, a Chaos Predator, Chaos Obliterator, Chaos Space Marine and a Mangalore (Ork).

The Chaos stuff suff is being painted for my brother in law (no jokes please!!!) as I owe him a couple of favours. So first up is a Chaos Predator.

Also a command fig for my Brother. Gonna try and give it a real faded look to the armour. Ultimately the plan is for some "Soviet" themed stuff to fight the Brits I'm collecting with.

And also an Ork. I can't get the image of them looking like Mangalores from the Movie 5th Element (one of my altime favs) out of my head. I need to excercise it out by painting one as a test ........

man that really doesn look like a mangalore. I never realized that until now. Now all you need is a Bruce Willis model and a fig for "Ruby Rod" and you'll be set.

Well I'm going to keep soldiering on with the thread (despite being alone in the warp) as it keeps me painting at nite........

Preshaded the Predator and almost finished the Mangalore (Mangalork?).

Hot damn that turret is sexy! You have an interesting painting style which I'm sure looks extremely striking on table-top. Very, very good stuff!

The Nurgle Champion looks almost phosphorous - have you thought about browning it up a bit? OTOH it might work well after weathering with the radioactive sickly look.
    There (still) is no spork.

Don't know how Ihave missed seeing this log before but that is some really nice painting going on there, especially the manglork, very nice. Any chance of you being able to do a bit of a tutorial on your weathering effects, it looks absolutely stunning. Keep up hte good work.

    Cheers, Rom

This is some excellent work, its a really nice idea painting the kommando like a mangalore, would be great too see a themed army on them.
The weathering on the tank is also ace, yellow is a quite unusual colour for chaos but it works great, its got a really nice, dirty industrial ash waste look to it. Would you mind giving me a tutorial for it?, I would really appreciate it.

Yeah I'm not sure about which way to go TBH. Its a bit of a colour test and the bright sickly look wasnt where I was originally gonna go with it. Now I kinda like but kinda dont. I think I'll sit on it an ponder for a while .....

That predator weathering is A+++++ WORK.

How long has it taken you so far? Hard going or easy?

    Hi EB,

Its probably taken about 8hrs so far including assembly. Pretty easy going but then I paint these (attached piccies) as a day job ..... its actually quite relaxing to paint something thats not historical.

I imagine the Sci-fi element does break up the historical items nicely.

8 hours all told, a fair amount of time, but I do have to say the results say, every minute has been well spent so far.

Did a bit of work on the turret today - finishing off the upper hatch and crewman. Got a couple of tiny things to touch up but wont do them now until the rest is all finished ......
