    Re: Eldar army

I agree with everyone else - the firedragon and spider look really good, especially the glowing effect is really, really nice. But I think that the freehand on the spider carapace is a bit crude in comparisson with the rest of the painting, but maybe that will get sorted once you darken it a bit.
This thread is very insoiring, so keep it up. Looking forward to se Eldrad!

    Thanks very much again!

As the time passes and I get a bit distance I have to agree on the WS freehand, Dark Apostle. It's possible that instead of darkening it I will totally repaint it, as I figured a way of doing faded patterns that's looking amazingly good and fun to make (for me at least). I tried it on Falcon yesterday.

And I finished Eldrad. I hope the client will like him as I'd hate to repaint the freehand on the cloak, but I know it's a departure from the scheme! I just couldn't resist! It's an Orion Nebulae, based on Hubble picture.

    Please share your thoughts!

your work is awersome as always. The free hand on the cloak is amazing, i wouldn't even know to do something like that! Can i ask what paints you use and brushes?

if you client isn't happy with that cloak (model) i will personally find him/her and beat him to death with my windsor and newton series 7 brush for such heresy!

    Re: Eldar army

How did you achieve the moonlight effect?

Do you first undercoast black, then go on the paint over a thin layer of really translucent grey, then highlight area around edges light grey before painting the edges white to give the shine?

beautiful work, really like what you did with the cloak on the farseer.

    Re: Eldar army

It appears that the client never really liked the Eldrad sculpt but he forgot to tell me so and as much as he likes the painting (but for the robe being too bright and the gloves changed to other colour) and adores the cloak, he'd like his sword/arm/staff/general pose changed.

So we agreed I will buy another Eldrad and one other Farseer and kitbash them into 1 model, and this one will go on eBay.

This made me take a lot of WIP pics today to avoid such situations.

    So here they are:

    WIP Death Jester:

He actually quite liked this model. Still needs a bit of work but won't change much.

    Jain Zar:

I got no comment on her - I can only assume it's OK then.

Have a look at a conversion Razza did a while back if you need some inspiration for an Eldrad conversion; very simple but very good. I'll edit in a link in a minute.

    Then it's Maugan Ra:

Again, no comment so far - which means he's not wrong up until this stage.

I repainted the Warp Spider backpack:

The client said he loves how he looks now. One for me finally!
