    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

    I use 5 glues
Mostly PVA, I buy it in 2 litre bottles, and transfer it to a 500ml bottle to use. Great for foamboard, card, wood and polystyrene foam, even my metal hand rails get PVA'd to the structure.
AMOS glue stick, I have tried other brands but they dont work as good, used in warning signs etc.
Contact adhesive _ Selleys Kwik grip, dont use this unless metal is involved, wouldnt use this on foam!
Super glue - I usually drip it out onto a plastic surface and then use a toothpick to transfer small amounts
    GW plastic Glue
Some people use hot glue for foam, thats something I havent tried yet.

I have undercoated the Gas storage, pleased that the weld lines are still visable, thinking about using this on my smaller tanks but not sure it rivets and welds would look right on the same peice, will paint this when I sort out the pipe bends on the four small storage tanks.

Second pic is the end cap on the tank before its cut, turn this over to cut, trim of small bits to get a nice rounded end.

I noticed you said be careful not to glue the paper to the battery when making barrels. I struggle to keep the paper perfectly in line so have resorted to AMOS gluing the paper to the battery then I wind around the paper. It works great and slides off with a gentle rotation. Had no problems doing it this way and is alot faster too. Just thought i'd share that!

Bugbait's stuff is great! But there is this: http://armorcast.com/store/product_i...roducts_id=213

Lots of inspiring terrain on the Armorcast web site.
    Good source for ideas..

To be honest bugbait's terrain is of a far higher standard in my oppinion. Also I don't think the terrain makers know that LPG stands for Liquid Propane Gas, I say this as they have a destroyed tank which is fill of some orange liquid which is pouring out....

Bugbait i must say your terrain building skills put mine to shame. The things you make out of simple household items are incredible for their origin. You have inspired me to go out and make some terrain of my own.

And when will you get around to all of your other stuff like the DoW HQ?

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

@tim, I have looked at Armor cast for inspiration, will be making a pump jack in the near future, about the same lenght as a land raider, probably be after the pipe line which should be next.

@ Yayale, I do try to make things that look like they work, maybe I need to throw "practicle" out the window?

@ Sternguard, happy to provide inspiration, sorry to say this but terrain building can be a big addiction once you have caught it!!
Hope to get back to the DOW stuff when my Oil obsesion has finished (soon)

My destroyed bulk tank is going to have the yellow section crushed like it was run over by a battlewagon, the idea is that is has been burnt out a long time ago so paint will be 90% old rust.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

You generally get much better looking terrain when you scratch build than most resin casts. They have to work within limitations of the casting process as well as the affordability factor. Those itty bitty tanks from Armor Cast would look better in 10 or 15 mm scale than they do in with 28s. Not saying that Armor Cast is horrible - however you can't really compare those to these.

Right now I am having a hard time seeing where this one is going to go. Should be interesting to see how it turns out compared to the non-wrecked one.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

Artistic license is fair enough, but it's nice for models to like like they actually work, or to be kind of realistic. Your terrain has a nice ballance as far as I'm concerned. The new tank looks good, I would make it so it's all bent outwards, as the blast has come from the inde and pushed the sides out.

All your stuff looks amazing Bugbait. Just finished making your ten man bunker, thanks a lot for the template! Mine was a bit less perfect as I adopted the 'cut first ask questions later' approach :P

    Thanks Yayale!
Finished the bulk store tank, thanks to Tommygun for some of his ammo boxes.

Inspiration for the numbers on the tank came from here

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

Nearly finished the destroyed tank, the reasoning behind the two tone paint is that the top section has had the paint burnt off and has since rusted, needs a dirt wash.

And started a triple tank, walkways and pipes to be added.

    Thanks N810
PVA welding + Ali fly screen and balsa for the walkway, this one is going quite quickly, now for the fiddly bits.

I'm going to have to "borrow" some of your ideas when I get around to making terrain for the local club. Looking good as always and still being creative, good job.

Thanks Fredox, post some pics when you do make sonething.

Tripple tanks has been undercoated, happy with the final shape, but I think the heavy weld lines are overdone.
