hot damn, you are insanely good. I've only just started foraying into terrain, and you have set the bar quite high. hats off to you, very inspirational.
Thanks, you just have to be prepaired to take your time and not rush anything, distraction is also the biggest killer, Im having to try really hard not to start anything else until this bigin is finished. (Thunderhawk doesnt count as I was waiting for the glue to dry, honest)
For example this two month project is now 7 months overdue, maybe I should be working for the Government!!

I'm pretty good at staying focused, and time is no object when it comes to a good model.
I find painting to be mindless fun, so before I start a huge modeling project, I get a bunch of minis together first. I'm probably going to do a empire city for fantasy, so I'll need an army to go with it. I'll assemble it, and then paint it during terrain building down-time. this keeps me focused, I don't have to worry about what to do next. I can think out problems while painting.
what I love the most about your model is your willingness to find cheap alternatives to the standard way to build. it has already started to shape the way I was going to approach my project, and the quality you get from household items is just stunning.
STUNNING SIMPLY STUNNING! stock up on snipers while you can and anti tank weapons that gate is going down! Simply incredible to be frank.
So i fear i may have discovered a small problem. You really can't use this in a game, unless you give the opponent or opponents extra points or some kind of terrain for them to be able to use. Or you could make special rules concerning scaling the walls or breaking the gates. It's you awesome terain so you get to do whatever you want with it though.

Thanks for the thumbs up guys!
@ Skullcandy - I dont have my IA on me at the moment but you pay points for every component you want, 4 Basic walls + 4 Towers + Gate + weapons = about 900 points if I remember correctly, X amount of structure points per wall section, so it is destroyable, 900 pts is 30% of a small Apoc army.
Nuclear Bazooka stratagem sounds like fun . . .

T-hawk is made from MDF, Medium density Fibreboard also know as custom board down under, available from any hardware shop. I buy 1.2M x 1.2M sheets 3mm thick for about $6 NZD so it is very cheap, cuts easily with a fast jigsaw as well. It has a very smooth surface so the flat surfaces dont need any sanding, only downside is if you get it wet it will swell up and turn into sawdust.

Don't forget, another nice thing about MDF is that you can wet it and bend it too. When it dries it will retain it's curved shape. I use it a lot for dealing with Eldar scenery because of this trait. You don't want to soak it - just get it a little bit damp (I set towels that are soaked in hot water and wrung out on top of it in order to wet mine when doing curves).only downside is if you get it wet it will swell up and turn into sawdust.
Going to have to try that! I have heard of using amonia based cleaners to bend balsa wood, I assumed that MDF would just break.

Update
Have basic painted on the lascannons, wont weather them until they are sitting on the finished walls, on to the autocannons next.
Cleaning up the walls as well, I was hoping that 2 layers of mat black acrylic house paint would hide the foamcore edges, it didn’t, going over all of the edges with filler before the final undercoat.

They look great. Now all you need to do is install laser pointers in each barrel for True line of sight and your good to go.![]()

Woah they look really good Hivemon.![]()
Simply Amazing!
Waouw, it's seems so easy to make but I guess it isn't, but they look like real weapons. Very impressive !!!
Lasers in the lascannons, not a bad idea, if there are any arguments about TLOS turn up the power
Thanks for the positive comments guys!
Update
Autocannons 99% done, more weathering once they are on the walls. Back to cleaning up the foamboard edges on the main walls.
