It's not as difficult as you'd think... just remember this old saying "measure twice, then cut once".
I reject your reality, and substitute my own.

Your scenery log is a constant inspiration. Love the fact that your so willing to share your techniques and plans. To me this is what the whole hobby is about, sharing a wealth of knowledge amongst similar minds.

I have the attention span of a goldfish, after 1 or 2 slats I'd loose patience, probably ditch the ruler altogether in the end lmao.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

    Thanks SSG Snuffy

@tzarinzilla, I have been asked why Im not selling my plans, I have downloaded so many free (legal) things for 40k that it wouldnt feel right, just doing my bit.

@ Monstrous Regiment, its people like you who actually use the plans that makes the extra work worth while, hope to see some pics one day

@ Morthai good to see a lurker surfacing!

    Update
Base paint is mostly done, grey house paint through the GW spray gun (with lots of water), mechrite red for the straight pipes, tin bits dry brush and brazen brass hilight for the bendy pipes, Im thinking about putting the dirt wash through the gun, have to do some testing first.

Made me laugh as it reflects my approach!

Two questions for the almighty Bug of Bait:
    1. How do you make the barrels you used on the bridge post?
and 2. where do you get the mesh for the floor from?

These oil drums/barrels are pretty much the same size as the ones on my baneblade, instructions burried in this thread here
Barrels on the cheap Page 44
The mesh was originaly bought to do some security fences, but it glues down OK with PVA and makes reasonable flooring, I got it from Spotlight which is a material shop for dress making etc, they have it in many colours and is a very strong plastic material, they also have snap fasterners which make good valve handles.

    Thanks TG
I think Im through my terrain burnout . . . I have started a new project - 3 4x2ft 3mm MDF boards in two layers, fine iron sand used for the road surface, footpath cut by scribing the lines and then going over them with a small file, there will be very little detail on these so that they can be stored easily.

Oh nice. I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you in a while. Interesting to see a modular road network that doesn't line up with the board edges. I'm looking forward to this one as I have daydreams of redoing my original city board. Also looking forward to seeing some of your terrain displayed on the board.

I like that they are interchangeable sections for variety.
I need to come up with something similar for storage issues too and was thinking of gluing felt to the bottoms of the boards.
This would, I hope, protect them from rubbing when stored against each other.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

Thanks guys, once this is done it should prompt me to finish a lot of terrain that will go on here nicely!
The sections do fit together randomly so it is mildly variable, if placed right there are some very large areas available for big bits of terrain

Small update, the plan is to go with various shades of brown through the GW spray gun and hopfully get a mottled effect for the ground, this is the first coat of colour, two or three more to go.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

2nd layer was a light brown, next green/brown, next lighter version, matt black over the road and footpath.
Artist spronge will be used with various greys for the footpath next, but I need to go over the lines/joins as the spray did not get in.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

The ground came out better than I imagined!

Footpaths using an artists spong to dab on dark grey, then light grey, and maybe a touch of white, followed by a dirty wash.

    Re: Apocalypse 40k Terrain

Very light dab of white on the footpaths
GWs new Ceramite White for the lines (dont like it at all) + Foundation yellow
Manholes - drybrush of boltgun, dark brown and then black.
    Nearly finished.
